Manwell Pablo Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 For Christ's sake, there's a thing called English courses for foreigners. Either Kaebi just doesn't want to be here or the club's totally forgotten about providing him with the proper service. In either case, it's a shame. Move to Iran for 6 months and take "Iranian for foriegners", come back fluent, and I might not think your an absloute tool for saying that. EDIT: Also have you heard Cristiano Ronaldo speak English? He's been here for what 3/4 years now? Potugese is latin based and has the same alpphabet as ours and he can still only form basic broken sentances. And don't give me this best player in the world bollocks because for two years he was distinctly average. I can't believe he's being torn apart for not being able to speak English after less than six months in the country.
danny. Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 I agree, if he has been sent home 'cos he can't speak english that's harsh. Like you say CR is hardly fluent, and he was no world beater for a loooong time with man-u. Ollie spouts on so much about showing love for players etc. why not get him on a basics course? Still seems bizarre sending him packing after 1.5 games. I'm not saying he is awesome, he probably isn't and never will be anything more than average, but Newton, Douglas, Cort etc. had a lot more than 1.5 games. I also (pre-January transfers) don't think any of our right/left midfielders/wingers have been anything to shout about in the games post sending him home.
Fox63 Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 Well Kaebi is obviously just a mediocre player who is not big or strong enough for this league. A bit like Matty Fryatt then!
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 A bit like Matty Fryatt then! Fryatt looks like he knows what he's doing on a football pitch; in the couple of games I've seen of Kaebi, he has looked nervous and barely able to control the ball. He is quick, but very slight and seems to be knocked off the ball too easily. This has probably got more to do with him being allowed to leave than his ability (or otherwise) to speak English.

I can't believe he's being torn apart for not being able to speak English after less than six months in the country. Ey, don't switch my own words around... I didn't claim to know the exact reason, I was guessing. Why else is Kaebi not making the cut apart from the two aforementioned reasons? If he's failed to adapt, it's either due to the fact that he doesn't understand a word or because the club doesn't want to/can't integrate him. Or maybe he's simply in the wrong league. Just because you fancy him doesn't mean he's good enough for Championship (or even Premiership) level. He's fast and skilled, talented indeed and I admit that, but English football does not endorse that kind of play. It's more like rompin' stompin'. Oh and btw, Persian is way more complicated to learn than English. And as for Ronaldo: as long as he understands Ferguson's tactics, there's no need to talk. Why should footballers talk that much, anyway? Have you heard some of that gruesome bollocks English-born players have issued in the past? So much for comparing apples and prunes. Both alike, but not the same.
Fox63 Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 He is quick, but very slight and seems to be knocked off the ball too easily. Again, a bit like Fryatt! (Look at how McCarthy had him in his pocket against Charlton as the most recent example) I'm sure that Kaebi is a fine footballer who impressed our chaiman a couple of times, but you have to ask yourselves why he failed to impress the three managers we have had this season!
kevinwpratt Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 Six months is long enough to learn enough English to get by....... If you move to Denmark they give you 3 months to learn the language (and i believe you are tested too) and if you fail they dont let you stay in the country.......

Absolutely. He's the wrong player at the wrong club at the wrong time. Therefore it's for the best that he should be allowed to move on.

Iranian is so far removed from most european languages, it would make learning it a damn sight harder for than someone from eg french/spanish speaking countries.

That's crazy But that is Danish, which is still european. The Danish are multi lingual anyway, I think they learn English from about age 7.
Webbo Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 Move to Iran for 6 months and take "Iranian for foriegners", come back fluent, and I might not think your an absloute tool for saying that. No one said fluent just enough to get by with. If I was living in Iran for 6 months, taking Farsi (is that the right term ) lessons surrounded by people who don't speak English I think I'd have a working knowledge by now.

I'm with you futt. I think if it mattered, he'd have done more. It's not as though he didn't have any spare time after all.
MPH Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 apparently he could understand english when people spoke it to him he just couldnt reply in english... I'm with you futt. I think if it mattered, he'd have done more. It's not as though he didn't have any spare time after all.

Don't agree with his lack of English.
Fox You Forest Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 Again, a bit like Fryatt! (Look at how McCarthy had him in his pocket against Charlton as the most recent example) I personally thought Fryatt had a good game that day but maybe just me..
