Phube Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 Because we've been really bad at purchasing (high scoring)strikers for years: Cort, DJ, DeVries, Benjamin, Fryatt, Hume, Akinbiyi, Scowcroft, Cresswell etc... I mean the only striker who's scored over 15 goals in the league has been Dickov!!
Fox You Forest Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 Yep hard to think of any but i think Stan The Man would have done well -the fire extinguisher
Matt Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 Benjamin was quality i thought I liked Benjamin, I think he was slagged off unfairly and more than he deserved, but he wasn't exactly prolific!
Sparky Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 is it only Dickov and Iwan Roberts who hit 20 in a season in recent times , haha recent ! Roberts was about 12 years ago
Sods Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 is it only Dickov and Iwan Roberts who hit 20 in a season in recent times , haha recent ! Roberts was about 12 years ago Oh Iwan is a welshman
He's not bald Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 Oh Iwan is a welshman Alan "smudger" Smith?
Webbo Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 Benjamin was quality i thought A character perhaps, I don't think anyone could seriously call him quality.
gosfox Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 Authur Rowley.......265 goals in 321games, and a bargain at 12 grand!!
Phube Posted 1 January 2008 Author Posted 1 January 2008 Authur Rowley.......265 goals in 321games, and a bargain at 12 grand!! That's who we need... some one give him a call!!!

Basingstoke Fox Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 Before we sold him Connolly was finnally starting to play well, 4 goals in 2 games if I remember correctly
Jay Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 Before we sold him Connolly was finnally starting to play well, 4 goals in 2 games if I remember correctly 17 in 49 in total not a bad return really

Trav Le Bleu Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 17 in 49 in total not a bad return really Was just comparing the stats of Dickov (32 in 89) Cottee (27 in 85) and Hume (28 in 104) So Dickov 1st with a goal every 2.78 games, but close 2nd (suprised me!) Connolly with 2.88, then Cottee 3.15 and Hume way back on 3.71 In defence of Hume, the other 3 were playing alongside much better players!
AyewJoking Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 Ferdinand was great! How many did Brian Deane get in the season we went up with Micky Adams?
Wooly Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 Bent, Ferdinand and Dickov were all quality the season we went up.
Phube Posted 1 January 2008 Author Posted 1 January 2008 Bent, Ferdinand and Dickov were all quality the season we went up. But they weren't prolific! (Well apart from Dickov...)

Although Dickov had a season in the Prem and Cottee played all of his time with us in the Prem.
Wooly Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 But they weren't prolific! (Well apart from Dickov...) I'd put money on all three of them being in the top 10 strikers in the Premiership that season for goals/games ratio.
Corky Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 But they weren't prolific! (Well apart from Dickov...) The last really good striker we bought was Tony Cottee. He scored loads in the Premiership for us, then Taylor got rid of him. Prat
Father Ted Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 The last really good striker we bought was Tony Cottee. He scored loads in the Premiership for us, then Taylor got rid of him. Prat Maybe becasue he was getting old.
