lavrentis Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 Dickov, I remember when I met him in the tunnel because we got printed the wrong tickets! Walking out with him to the post horn gallop.
i luv u foxes Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 stan collymore was impressive but id have to say dickov was a legend
Corky Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 Maybe becasue he was getting old. Still put the ball in the net though. Cottee had just scored 13 the year before and 16 in 1998/1999, but Taylor decided to treat us to Ade Akinbiyi and Richard Cresswell.
danny. Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 Collymore and Heskey was our last decent strikeforce, anyone remember the sunderland game when they scored 4 between them (heskey 1, collymore hat trick), plus an amazing 40 yard Stephen Oakes goal

AyewJoking Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 Bent, Ferdinand and Dickov were all quality the season we went up. Surely Bent and Sir Les were signed after we had won promotion. Still quality though.
Sly Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 Dickov did okay in the Championship, I wasn't overly impressed with him in the Premier League. Les Ferdinand and Tony Cottee were both brilliant for us in the Premier League. Collymore would have been a Leicester Legend, if we hadn't got rid of him. We've purchased some tripe though!
ibbosuk Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 Because we've been really bad at purchasing (high scoring)strikers for years:Cort, DJ, DeVries, Benjamin, Fryatt, Hume, Akinbiyi, Scowcroft, Cresswell etc... I mean the only striker who's scored over 15 goals in the league has been Dickov!! Frank Worthington. Worthington won eight caps for England in 1974, scoring two goals. (The second best player I ever saw in a Leicester City Shirt)
Joe. Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 It has to be Dickov doesn't it? I think he finished second top goalscorer in the season we gained promotion didn't he?
when_you're_smiling Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 As someone has already said the trio of Dickov, Ferdinand and Bent were fantastic and almost kept us up. Just the defence couldn't deal with the last five minutes of games that season. In fairness though the fact is we have had some even worse midfielders in the last few years who have created sod all. With the lack of creativity even if we'd of had someone like Ruud Van Nistelroy up front I don't think we would have been much better off as the forwards over the past few years have had sod all service.
onetruefox Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 Frank Worthington.Worthington won eight caps for England in 1974, scoring two goals. (The second best player I ever saw in a Leicester City Shirt) Have to agree..Frankie Wortho, what a fcuking legend.
Ultra Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 David Connolly was probably the last quality striker we had. His goal record was fairly reasonable given some of the dross he had to work with (Nathan Blake? Scot Gemmill? Jason Wilcox?). We also made a 500% profit on him!
Staf Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Scowcroft was okay I liked Scowcroft. He is still scoring goals for Crystal Palace now. He must be 30+
Trav Le Bleu Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Scowcroft 33 in 147 - poor for a striker. Thats more the kind of stike rate you'd want from an attacking midfielder.
Fox You Forest Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 To be fair to him he did have to play wide right a fair few times.
Jack Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Scowcroft 33 in 147 - poor for a striker. Thats more the kind of stike rate you'd want from an attacking midfielder. He used to play on the right though, taking that into consideration it's not that bad.
Super Arj Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Because we've been really bad at purchasing (high scoring)strikers for years:Cort, DJ, DeVries, Benjamin, Fryatt, Hume, Akinbiyi, Scowcroft, Cresswell etc... I mean the only striker who's scored over 15 goals in the league has been Dickov!! Your right, Dickov , and maybe Hume but most of the strikers we buy move on to other clubs and do fairly well there eg Scowcroft, Collymore, etc..
