Who was the last really successful striker we bought!

Maybe becasue he was getting old. :dunno:

Still put the ball in the net though. Cottee had just scored 13 the year before and 16 in 1998/1999, but Taylor decided to treat us to Ade Akinbiyi and Richard Cresswell.

Collymore and Heskey was our last decent strikeforce, anyone remember the sunderland game when they scored 4 between them (heskey 1, collymore hat trick), plus an amazing 40 yard Stephen Oakes goal

Dickov did okay in the Championship, I wasn't overly impressed with him in the Premier League.

Les Ferdinand and Tony Cottee were both brilliant for us in the Premier League.

Collymore would have been a Leicester Legend, if we hadn't got rid of him.

We've purchased some tripe though!

Because we've been really bad at purchasing (high scoring)strikers for years:

Cort, DJ, DeVries, Benjamin, Fryatt, Hume, Akinbiyi, Scowcroft, Cresswell etc...

I mean the only striker who's scored over 15 goals in the league has been Dickov!!

Frank Worthington.

Worthington won eight caps for England in 1974, scoring two goals.

(The second best player I ever saw in a Leicester City Shirt)

As someone has already said the trio of Dickov, Ferdinand and Bent were fantastic and almost kept us up. Just the defence couldn't deal with the last five minutes of games that season.

In fairness though the fact is we have had some even worse midfielders in the last few years who have created sod all. With the lack of creativity even if we'd of had someone like Ruud Van Nistelroy up front I don't think we would have been much better off as the forwards over the past few years have had sod all service.

David Connolly was probably the last quality striker we had.

His goal record was fairly reasonable given some of the dross he had to work with (Nathan Blake? Scot Gemmill? Jason Wilcox?).

We also made a 500% profit on him! lol

Scowcroft was okay :dunno:

I liked Scowcroft. He is still scoring goals for Crystal Palace now. He must be 30+

Scowcroft 33 in 147 - poor for a striker. Thats more the kind of stike rate you'd want from an attacking midfielder.

He used to play on the right though, taking that into consideration it's not that bad.

Your right, Dickov , and maybe Hume

but most of the strikers we buy move on to other clubs and do fairly well there

eg Scowcroft, Collymore, etc..
