Raj Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 No. Because he's not got us to the top of the league and he hasn't scored every single game he's played in either. That man will be Big Stevie Howard!
Manwell Pablo Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Go and have a look on the football league website on the official stats. Sheehan aint even in there.I'd rather believe the official stats than adding in disallowed goals to make your chosen one look better. He is Bert, he's second with five (well he was last time I checked anyway ) Still, proves my point that we score goals from free kicks because of the people we have in the box not the magical properties of Alan Sheehans left boot.

But that, is bang on.

Pity we didn't have someone else in the box instead of Fryatt to convert that pass of Sheehan's against QPR. Pity the ref ruled two goals he made offside earlier in the season. Pity DJ didn't convert that easy chance at Barnsley I think it was. There have been about 16 goals, assists, disallowed goals or close range misses as a result of Sheehan's left foot this season. You just refuse to accept it. Nor would it be quite so important if we were creating chances galore as a matter of course. But we're not.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Pity I haven't got anything better to do than read this garbage.
davieG Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Pity I haven't got anything better to do than read this garbage. You could try tonight's Mercury
Fez of Mahrez Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 You could try tonight's Mercury I actually do need the Jobs section.
davieG Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 I actually do need the Jobs section. I thought you had a good job
Simi Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 I don't agree with that, Cheddeh.I thought against Wolves and Charlton he did a good job there and the players ratings reflect that. He's tried to create space to receive the ball from the back 4 and has used it quite well in those games. He's not just been passing sideways, he's looked to play incisive forward balls. He was OK against Charlton but I can't comment on the game against QPR. And to be fair, we all know he isn't the long term answer there. He's done as well as expected and possibly more given the circumstances. He did play well against Wolves and I think I voted him as my man of the match, despite many disagreeing with me. But for me since then he's not been great. However, I do agree I was perhaps a little harsh on him. If he could be a better passer of the ball I think he'd do a lot better there, he just seems sometimes to give easy balls away. But as you said, importantly, he isn't the long term, which I suppose we have to accept. Fair play to him for filling in but I can't wait til we get someone else to play there.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 I thought you had a good job Yeah it's alright. Looking to move to Leicester though.
davieG Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Yeah it's alright. Looking to move to Leicester though. What are you looking for apart from £35000 and a company car?
Raj Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Yeah it's alright. Looking to move to Leicester though. You mean....you will be closer to me!!!!!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 What are you looking for apart from £35000 and a company car? Ha, I'd take £15,000 less than that and a company tricycle just to be set up in Leicester with a job and a flat. Laziest person in the world, really. A simple man with simple pleasures. There doesn't seem to be much about at the moment and Leicester doesn't seem to have as many things on offer as a similar city or two I could mention just a bit further north.

Not bragging or anything but i just like to write £35K and a Company car every so often to remind myself of what I was on before I was deemed too old. As for Leicester the Regeneration's obviously not working unless you work in a shop!

Nor would it be quite so important if we were creating chances galore as a matter of course. But we're not. I don't. My point is the pass wasn't converted. Therefore not an assist because it didn't lead to a goal. The goals were ruled offside. So the assists don't count. DJ didn't score, so it doesn't count as an assist because it didn't lead to a goal. You like to claim these assists were successful because they came from Sheehan. You don't mention the assists from any other chances we've missed this season e.g - against Ipswich in the dying minutes when Fryatt set Hume up and he missed. I'd rather go on the official facts rather than the ones you have going on in your head.

If I were talking about Fryatt I would be more than happy to accept exactly the same criteria. Why would I think otherwise. do you seriously believe I'd rather have someone else in the team if Fryatt was scoring or making 16/20 goals a season? I've no connections with any City players but, when it comes to choosing a sports team, I would drop my own son and play my worst enemy if it meant a better side..
Simon Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 This thread shows exactly what is wrong with our idiot fans. No Clem has yet to put in the performances that we all wanted from him and people are entitled to suggest he should be dropped from the team or that they want to see improvement and how they think this could be achieved (playing alongside other half decent midfielders MIGHT be a start. But honestly, how can you say 'he thinks he's bigger than the team', 'he's not putting the effort' in etc? How the fook can you possibly tell this? You're just making yourselves look bloody thick.
Thracian Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Pity I haven't got anything better to do than read this garbage. Pity you don't concentrate on getting a fulfulling job!
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 He signed for 750k rising to £1m. Get your facts straight before you rant. Is it me or does everybody have a go at 'Our Thracian'??
Southern Fox Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 My honest assessment of Stephen Clemence is that he has okay for us. We would see a much better Stephen Clemence if he had better support alongside him. When Wesolowski was fit (that wasnt for long) and i mean really match fit they looked awesome together. If he was playing for West Brom or even a Watford he would be excelling but the trouble is, even good players look naff when playing in an underperforming, lack of confidence team. I think he genuinely wants us to do well for us and isnt one of the "higher profile players" we have seen turn up to collect their paychecks. Lets hope Ollie does bring in other good midfielders in this window and then hopefully we can watch his blossom. Lets not forget he was Brum's captain and player of the season last year - and guess what they had a pretty decent team

Obviously, when Clemence has an oppotunity for an assist, the striker doesnt miss the chance, and when Sheehan does the striker does miss the chance. Actually, i think the striker misses the chance when Sheehan assists just so Sheehan doesnt get the assist, so you cant go on about it all day long then.
Scow Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Funny how Thracian has such a good memory of practically everything Sheehan has done in a game. I wonder if Thracian sits there with his note pad, a bit like one of those OPTA analysers and works out how many passes completed, tackles made and won, shots on target, average distance from opponent when defending, etc. I'm sure such luxury isn't applied to the likes of Fryatt and Clemence - he wouldn't be able to use spin then.
