Jack Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 currently Newcastle 0 Man City 2 Ahh he's gotta get the boot soon, unless there is a dramatic change.
DB11 Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Well he was given 5 years to turn Newcastle around. I think he should be given the time to sort it out tbh...
Sparky Posted 2 January 2008 Author Posted 2 January 2008 Well he was given 5 years to turn Newcastle around. I think he should be given the time to sort it out tbh... the geordies wont allow it , they want shearer in now , they think they have a divine right to be top 6
Tevez Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Got a Geordie mate of mine, said he and many others don't want Allardyce to go, it's mainly the shit players that need clearing out. Though Allardyce has his favourate in the squad, Mark Viduka, which is why Martins don't play many games or last the full 90 mins. Owen is struggling to keep fit. In my opinion, they've suffered tough luck with injuries.
Mort Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Frankly i cant see how anyone else would do any better... its a big ask restoring Newcastle considering the instability of the club over the last few years (maybe decades!). Neither the Club's owners or the supporters are really helping themselves - loyal as the Geordies are (fair play they troop down to St.James week in week out) they need to provide any new manager with a chance to develop the team and it will take time, meanwhile (bar a credible threat of relegation) the owners need to back the current managment up to the hilt. I just dont see how Shearer is the solution to their problems, and if he fails to get the club "where they belong" who then?
FleckneyFox Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 you'd have to be mental to be Newcastle manager they're never happy but to be fair they are underacheiving i think Allardyce should get at least until the end of the season but his style of play doesnt suit anyone at the club
Steven Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 I would love Shearer to take the job just to see him fall flat on his face.
James. Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Newcastle supporters, en masse, are arseholes. They should take a look at themselves when wondering why the club hasn't won anything in recent memory. I rate Allardyce highly. He's a victim of short termist attitudes in football generally and at Newcastle in particular.
Ultra Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 I would love Shearer to take the job just to see him fall flat on his face. ...and turn Newcastle into the next Leeds... The FA Cup is Sam's last hope. If his team loses to Stoke his fate will be sealed.
Dames Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 No-one will suceed at that job thier fans are the most impatient bastards on the planet. They've had some shit but they should look at clubs in the lower leagues that are facing bankruptcy instead of spitting thier dummys and constantly moaning because they aint in the top 6.

Are they though? Or is this just the media's portayal?
Fox You Forest Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 the geordies wont allow it , they want shearer in now , they think they have a divine right to be top 6 But what do they do when he cant sort them out? I think he will get the boot anytime now, but hopefully not.
Tommy G Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 They should at least give him until the end of the season. Otherwise its the same old story for Newcastle managers
Dames Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Are they though? Or is this just the media's portayal? Yep, I have a few friends that are Newcastle fans and they absolutley flip out even when they lose to one of the big 4. And judging by what you see in the papers (Yeah i know but still) the rest of them are of a similar mould.
Babylon Posted 4 January 2008 Posted 4 January 2008 The papers will get him the sack... they want him to fail to make headlines. They are mid table, the way people go on you'd think they were in the bottom three.
lookwhaticando Posted 4 January 2008 Posted 4 January 2008 I could understand why they weren't overwhelmed by Souness - his record isn't exactly inspiring. Ditto for Roeder... in fact, Roeder's record was quite frightening for a club hoping to press on - his record is instead littered with terrible reversals. But Allardyce has a decent record in the top flight... compared to their last two managers, his record is pure brilliance. Even the most clueless people must realize that Allardyce's Bolton didn't become UEFA contenders overnight. It took years of building and development, something he's not yet had time to do at Newcastle. He'll never be afforded the same time at Newcastle as he was at Bolton - but he should be given enough time to build his own squad. He needs two full seasons at least before conclusions are drawn about which way the team is heading. Just looked at the teamsheet for the Man City game... only four starting players and two subs were Allardyce players. Six players of the sixteen were his players - the rest are from previous managers. It's not really his squad just yet.
Sods Posted 4 January 2008 Posted 4 January 2008 I reckon he will be sacked after the home game against Bolton.
Ultra Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 He was damn lucky against Stoke today. But even at St James Park, there's no guarantee his side will survive the replay.
Bryn Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 Allardyce has shown poor management skills in taking Newcastle and trying to get them to play to Bolton's strengths rather than their own. If he wanted to play like Bolton, why not just stay there? Newcastle had pacey strikers and quality wingers and yet he's playing this baffling 4-3-3. It's no good for Newcastle and if he was a good manager he'd have made a system that worked for Newcastle, rather than sticking them with the Bolton 4-3-3 and trying to shoehorn the players in.

If you read that back but substitute Allardyce for Holloway, Newcastle for Leicester and Bolton for Plymouth and it pretty much sums up our situation!
Anish Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 Today he tried to play to Newcastle's strengths by going 442 but they ended up playing long ball to Viduka and Owen which was awful to watch. Plus with Smith and Butt in centre midfield they've got zero creativity to supply the attackers. It was a horrible performance today (though you could argue that it was a typical Allardyce performance) and if they've been playing like that all season then it's little wonder that the fans are getting impatient. If I was a Newcastle fan I wouldn't have been happy with that game, even if they didn't get beaten.
