MPH Posted 8 January 2008 Posted 8 January 2008 The Mockery And following winger Jonny Hayes' loan to Northampton, there could be more outgoings with Leeds expressing an interest in versatile defender Darren Kenton. I dont know if people picked up on this from what the Merc was saying in the article about 2 more signings but i thought it was worth a thread of its own.... Personally i think he makes a good person to come off the bench. Wouldnt want him to go...
Ric Flair Posted 8 January 2008 Posted 8 January 2008 I'd be surprised if we let him go without a replacement being lined up. Good squad player IMO right now.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 8 January 2008 Posted 8 January 2008 I'd rather we got rid of one of the Guantanamo Bay lot who are currently roaming around Denmark/Iran/South London trying to find a local tribe to join. I like Kenton as a reserve utility player and he doesn't seem arsed about playing regular football while he can trot on for half an hour every now and then, slide about a bit and then knock off with a load of models on Facebook. And fair play to him.

Personally i think he makes a good person to come off the bench. Wouldnt want him to go... The problem for him is that his best position is right-back. And we have plenty of cover there already. But I'd understand it if Mandaric and Holloway wanted to cut the payroll..
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 January 2008 Posted 8 January 2008 I'm indifferent, he's ok as a squad player. As Fez says there are about 10 players I'd rather see the back of first but if he goes, ah well.
davieG Posted 8 January 2008 Posted 8 January 2008 I'm happy to see any of the current squad go, they've lost too many games for us for me to care about them. I associate them all with losing! Not that I want to see everyone leave in one fell swoop but if someone offers and they even think of considering it then Goodbye!
SamL Posted 8 January 2008 Posted 8 January 2008 He'd be a good squad player right now because of his versatility. Even when asked to play in all sorts of different positions he's got stuck in well even though he isn't our first choice. The fact that Leeds seem to bidding for a lot of players has suprised me because they are doing so well. Wouldn't have thought they needed to strengthen much.
Micky Ruddle Posted 8 January 2008 Posted 8 January 2008 I'd keep Kenton. Good player to have in the squad. Didn't impress last year, but this year, he has been good since he got put on transfer list. Trying to prove that he is good enough to stay, i think he's proved it.

If they are confident of staying up it's probably cheaper for them to recruit Champioship players now.
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 January 2008 Posted 8 January 2008 If they are confident of staying up it's probably cheaper for them to recruit Champioship players now. You'd of thought they'd of gone for someone other than Kenton if they're after Championship players A) he aint that good B) he's not that young.

And fair play to him. You noticed that as well then. He's versatile but I don't think we'd miss him. Sooner or later this squad has got to get some organisation to it and unless Kenton is going to play right back, which quite clearly he isn't then he donesn't have a place at the club.

MPH Posted 8 January 2008 Author Posted 8 January 2008 well we will have to be cutting the wage bill a fair wack if we are getting these players in.. its probably more of a case of ' who can we get off the wage bill' than ' who do we want rid of' Kenton suprised me with his attitude to being transfer listed. He came out fighting. Out of an average bunch he was one of the ones with a better attitude- the sort of attitude i thought Holloway would of wanted around..
Blue Bob Posted 8 January 2008 Posted 8 January 2008 I dont mind seeing him leave, also heard that Southampton were thinking of taking him back ... but only on a forum so not sure how reliable
Simi Posted 8 January 2008 Posted 8 January 2008 Think they were in for him in the summer, so this would make sense. Sell/Loan.

Thracian Posted 8 January 2008 Posted 8 January 2008 He'd be another limited and unnecessary name off the wage bill. Nothing against him but I have never seen what he's given us that was particularly special. He's hardly ever used either and that's not likely to change. Big squads? Waste of money for clubs like us.
dandannieldanok Posted 8 January 2008 Posted 8 January 2008 Get rid, utility player just means he's too crap to specialise in one position.
Jonezy Posted 8 January 2008 Posted 8 January 2008 Someone interested in buying one of our players....???? Is it April's fools day??? Sell, sell, sell, sell, sell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Staf Posted 8 January 2008 Posted 8 January 2008 We have worse players than kenton but i dont think he is really a first team player let him go
MikeyT Posted 8 January 2008 Posted 8 January 2008 We have worse players than kenton but i dont think he is really a first team player let him go Totally agree! I cant actually believe some one wants one of our players! As another poster said, Sell, sell, sell!

Mr Happy Posted 8 January 2008 Posted 8 January 2008 If this is true then yeah sell him. Has been a decent squad player for us in his 1st season but sadly since Kentons been back for his second spell with us he hasnt done as well IMO, but players never do seem to have a second decent spell with a club just look at Kish at leeds
Matt Posted 8 January 2008 Posted 8 January 2008 Why is the poison dwarf so obsessed with our players? I'm not that bothered he's welcome to them, their no good to us (Well as much as I slagged him of Mark De Vries was coming into abit of form before Leeds took him)
shrek1970 Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 According to the Yorkshire Post. LEEDS UNITED want to sign Leicester City defender Darren Kenton on loan to plug the gap left by Rui Marques's African Nations Cup call-up. Link:- http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/football/Le...sive.3658651.jp
