Bert Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Sheffield United have signed Manchester United winger Lee Martin on loan for the remainder of the season, reports BBC Radio Sheffield.Martin was previously on loan at Plymouth, where he made 12 appearances and scored two goals. The 20-year-old can operate on either flank and attracted interest from a number of other clubs before agreeing to join the Blades. He has also had spells on loan at Rangers and Stoke City.
Blue Bob Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Great Why are you bothered we have justed signed Zsolt for the left wing and Bori for the right, so hopefully the wing positions are sorted.
sham Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Lee Martin joins Sheffield United on Loan for rest of the season Tosser http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/e...v_1/default.stm
Ric Flair Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Could have done with him as competition with the 2 Hungarians. I think there might be another winger coming in at some point i'm hoping it's the other left winger Holloway has had on loan before.
Unabomber Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Why are you bothered we have justed signed Zsolt for the left wing and Bori for the right, so hopefully the wing positions are sorted. Missing out on another potentially good signing, no one has seen the two Hungarians play yet, fans have said Martin is a good player, And it would be good to have cover for the wings.

I think there might be another winger coming in at some point i'm hoping it's the other left winger Holloway has had on loan before. Who would this be?! With Plymouth I am presuming?!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 We are signing Michael Foot. What? He's a left-winger who was once on Plymouth's books.
Bluemoon Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Well that's the myth blown that all Ollie's former players want to play for him. I wouldn't mind betting that wierd rant he did on SSN re Man U didn't do our cause any favours!
Jonezy Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Pants, I was hoping for this guy.... Robson did the sweet talk with old man SAF then.... Oh well, we still have Zolti...

Fox You Forest Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Well that's the myth blown that all Ollie's former players want to play for him. I wouldn't mind betting that wierd rant he did on SSN re Man U didn't do our cause any favours! Wycombe Fox Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 From www.sportinglife.com Sheffield United have completed the loan signing of Manchester United winger Lee Martin until the end of the season. Martin has just completed a successful three-month spell at Plymouth, who wanted to keep hold of the 20-year-old. But Blades manager Bryan Robson moved quickly to conclude a deal with former United counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson for the highly-rated youngster. Martin said: "I spoke to Sir Alex on Wednesday and he told me of the interest. There were a few other clubs interested, but it is good to know a big club like Sheffield United is interested in me. "Plymouth wanted to extend my stay, but the decision was made by myself and Sir Alex. I will work hard but hopefully I can bring a bit of flair, pace and energy."
fannysyouraunt Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Manchester United's Lee Martin has joined Sheffield United on loan until the end of the season. The winger had spent three months at Plymouth Argyle earlier in the season, making 12 appearances and scoring two goals for the Pilgrims during their rise into Championship play-off contention. Paul Sturrock had been keen to keep Martin at Home Park, but Bryan Robson has moved quickly and utilised his links with United to bring the player to Bramall Lane. Martin will be suspended for Saturday's league game with QPR after picking up five bookings during his time at Plymouth, but admitted that it is a pleasure to have joined such a big club. Flair player "I spoke to Sir Alex (Ferguson) on Wednesday morning and he told me of the interest," he told Sheffield United's official website. "There were a few other clubs interested but it is good to know a big club like Sheffield United is interested in me. "Plymouth wanted me to extend my stay but the decision was made by myself and Sir Alex. "I will work hard but hopefully I can bring a bit of flair, pace and energy." Team-mates Martin should also have no problem settling in at the club as he will be linking up with a few familiar faces from his past. "I've played with Phil Bardsley at Manchester United and Rangers and I was at Stoke with Lee Hendrie last year," he said
SamL Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 So much to him being injured then. Would've been a quality signing for us but life goes on, we've got Zsolt Hope he doesn't come back to haunt us when we play at there place later on in the season. Don't know what happened to him having a medical at our place then, dodgy information.
Bluemoon Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Its been said a million times on here but some people just dont listen, It was a rant about the transfer window NOT Man Utd. Then why didn't Martin come here? We're a bigger club than Sheff United, and he's played for our manager before. I'm sorry but Ollie's rant was wierd, and Man U were mentioned.
SamL Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Then why didn't Martin come here? We're a bigger club than Sheff United, and he's played for our manager before.I'm sorry but Ollie's rant was wierd, and Man U were mentioned. We're not a big club at all. What reason have you got to suggest that? We're only out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

dandannieldanok Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Shame but I'm not overly disappointed, I'm just glad he hasn't stayed at Plymouth
