Shit_arse Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 We need some insider knowledge on this one..... this totally came out of the blue..... Someone out there must know whether its sign sealed delivered.
STUHILL Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Osbourne can play on the wing as well can't he ? by the sounds of what Holloway was saying about Gori the hungarian he won't play for a few weeks, and will need some time to settle in. never heard of him as being a winger but he is sposed to be fast so yeh maybe, hope so because am I the only one who is sceptical about these Hungarians, pretty unproven if you ask me. But very happy with how Centre midfield is shaping up!
LeeCovFox Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 It would appear that im unable to put things in little quote boxes like the rest of you! How do I do this?
mancunianfox Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Hopefully the geographical closeness and ease of move will be a big factor. Hope so!

If you want to quote multiple posts click the "Quote" box below them before you click reply. If you just want to post one there's a "Reply" button next to the aforementioned "Quote" button which you can use. Alternatively you can just put the Quote tags around something. For instance: [Quote]I will cream myself if Oakley joins[/Quote] Becomes: I will cream myself if Oakley joins Job's a good 'un

He's trained with them for the last few weeks so i suppose we need to take his word on it.
fannysyouraunt Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Derby have accepted a bid from Leicester for midfielder Matt Oakley. The Foxes are believed to have tabled a bid of £500,000 for the Rams skipper. Leicester boss Ian Holloway is keen to bring the former Southampton man to the Walkers Stadium as he looks to bolster his squad. Derby are willing to let Oakley leave after bringing in Robbie Savage and Hossam Ghaly to strenghten their midfield options earlier this week. Oakley has been given permission to talk to Leicester and the Championship outfit will be hoping to quickly tie up a deal for the experienced midfielder.

STUHILL Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Merc saying he has agreed a three and a half year contract and just needs to pass a medical, may play tomorrow. Really liking the way our team is shaping up now. Shame couldnt get Fullop on permanent but Alnwick should be good until summer. Would like to see LB come in and hopefully Kisnorbo and McAuley can start showing some good form with Chambers at RB. Midfield of Clemence and Oakley is cracking! WIngers are still an unknown but at least they are wingers and must be better than Hayes who went out on loan so should be ok. Howard with either Hume or Dj along side him and Hayles coming off bench occassionaly. Amazing how quickly the standard of a team can change with a bit of good business. Just need to see this team start performing on the pitch! Very impressed with Holloway in window, due to players he's brought in but also ones he's tried to bring in. Big thumbs-up Ollie!!!!!!
Ric Flair Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 BREAKING NEWS: CITY SWOOP FOR RAMS ACE Be the first reader to comment on this story 11:13 - 11 January 2008 Leicester City are set to make it a double swoop on Derby as they have lined up the signing of midfielder Matt Oakley from Pride Park. The 30-year-old former Southampton man was scheduled for medical checks today. If the formalities are completed in time, Oakley would be available for tomorrow's home clash with Coventry City alongside his former Rams colleague Steve Howard. The fee is as yet undisclosed but it is understood that, under certain conditions, it could rise to as much as £1million. Oakley's arrival would make him the sixth player signed by City boss Ian Holloway since the transfer window opened. City beat off competition from four other Championship sides, and what possibly tipped the balance in Oakley's mind was his close friendship with striker Howard, who came to the Walkers Stadium two weeks ago. Oakley, who was at Southampton for 12 seasons, has agreed terms on a three-and-a-half year deal and his arrival, if sealed, would mean a possible six players making home debuts tomorrow, either starting or going on from the bench. Holloway had always rated his midfield as the weakest department but, with skipper Stephen Clemence back from suspension and James Wesolowski now fit, at last he has options in that area. Six new men in might seem like plenty of business but the City boss is impatient for more. He said: "I feel like I have done nothing really. What we did have planned, and what we hoped to do, a lot of it has fallen through. "We have lost out all week on deals we hoped would be done to get some balance here, because people have had to play out of position. I have tried to bring people in to help us. "I had a couple of pieces in place but I lost them. Such is life, onwards and upwards." Meanwhile, City have loaned out youth team keeper Alex Cisak to Tamworth until the end of the season.
CupidStunt Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Mentioned his name tongue and cheek a few weeks ago when we bought howard Would be an excellent signing, seen him play on sky for the rams couple of times Seems we could have bought 2 of there better players in my opinion And what a price !!!!! ...A snip @ 500k compared to recent buys in the league
Onion Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Oakley: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ity/7182920.stm Derby County midfielder Matt Oakley is in talks with Leicester City over a transfer to the Championship outfit. The Foxes have tabled an offer of £500,000 for the former Southampton midfielder, which Derby have accepted. Thirty-year-old Oakley was a key member of Billy Davies' promotion-winning side last season. The former Derby captain would be the second player to leave the Rams for Leicester with Ian Holloway also signing Steve Howard recently. Osbourne: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ity/7182933.stm Leicester City's hopes of completing the loan signing of Aston Villa midfielder Isaiah Osbourne before the weekend have been dashed by injury. The 20-year-old was supposed to link up with the squad earlier in the week. "He was supposed to be here by now," boss Ian Holloway told BBC Radio Leicester. "I thought that was done but unfortunately he had a slight dead leg. "I thought he was going to be in on Tuesday to train but now should be fully fit by next Monday or Tuesday."
Toby or not Toby Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Shuld be a good signing, with osbourne opefully coming in on loan we will have 4 centre midfielders to chose from
ibbosuk Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Mentioned his name tongue and cheek a few weeks ago when we bought howardWould be an excellent signing, seen him play on sky for the rams couple of times Seems we could have bought 2 of there better players in my opinion And what a price !!!!! ...A snip @ 500k compared to recent buys in the league I don't think Derby Co. know wtf they are doing have I got this right... 33 year old Savage in for £1.5m and 30 year old Captain, Oakley out to us for £500k... :w00t:
Simon Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 If this is true, Oakley would be a very good singing for us. Find it strange that Derby are letting him go, but I would DEFINITELY take him. We would have a half-decent midfield if he signed, certainly a bit more energy and forward prescence then if Kavanagh signed. Ollie will be laughing, and I'll be creaming my pants if we pull this off!
Fat Ron Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 I am utterly shocked that there appears to be some form of posotivity toward City and Ian Holloway!! Not so long ago there were threads started such as This, this, and this Oh and This.. At least he is doing what he said he would do, change the personel & attitude of the squad.
BigGibbo Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Im enthused by this signing its the sort of level we need to get up with Weso clemence & hopefully Osbourne we'll have four top end championship midfielders!
LeeCovFox Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Ollie will be laughing, and I'll be creaming my pants if we pull this off! You'll be creaming youself if "we" pull it off? You can do it yourself like the rest of us young man. I can't claim to speak for anybody else but I for one am not touching the dirty little thing.
