The Reverend Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 How predictable. Just like Fryatt before him, there's excuses for Clemence but those around him get the blame! And all because of some ancient history. I never said Clemence had never been any good in the past. Truth is he left Birmingham because they couldn't guarantee him a place. And so far, from what I've seen, I can understand why. If his form suddenly chases great. But Clemence presumably came here because we did guarantee him a place. And that's fine if he's the best alternative. But so far he's not looked it to me. Theres only one thing predictable in this thread, and that is you're insistence that we play academy players in our team, as they are better, when its quite clear to everyone but you that its just not the case. Clemence, though not really demonstrating it here as of yet, even when playing distinctly averagely, is better than King and Wesolowski.
Babylon Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Truth is he left Birmingham because they couldn't guarantee him a place. And so far, from what I've seen, I can understand why. Nothing to do with them being in a completely different league then?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Oh for f**k's sake. We're signing an excellent Championship central midfielder. Is there any need to bicker about the rest of our squad? Let's just get on with it for once. This is a fresh start after the shambles of the summer. Holloway isn't afraid to use King or Weso but one is still learning and the other needs to be wrapped in cotton wool most of the time.

surrifox Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 just caught up with this Oakley news- great hope its not hi-jacked. To my mind developments in the last week or so make the first half of this season even more surreal- at last we are signing the sort of player we should be linked with instead of frigging around with the likes of hellings and newton
Thracian Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Apart from his debut, and only for a short spell, King and the injury prone Aussie are out of their depth, so if you want to persit with that then we can all enjoy at trip to Hartlepool next season. Me I would rather go with the quality and experience of the club captain and the current captain of the shaggers. Yes I remember us going with experience last season. We didn't win a game in January and March. Weso's injuries worry me, no question, but when both were fit I always thought Weso looked better. As for King he needs licence to get forward more and the benefit of more games. Matt Oakley should be fine though, assuming he signs.
teblin Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 I love that. Count Clemence's cup goal but ignore Weso's! Wesolowski has scored one goal in 13 matches due to his absence through injury while Clemence has scored twice in 23. Big difference! King has scored once in 5, the best average of all. Even better considering he was barely allowed into the attacking half in his first two or three games. Clemence does have 6 assists too his name.

Kings average is only the best, because, he's played the least games, If King was so amazing, a centre half wouldn't have been keeping him out of the team.
Tommy G Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Just read the thread, looks like fantastic news. Hope Ollie can pull it off
Shit_arse Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Thracian your constant belittling our the first team players, and fixation with the academy side is really boring..... You dont seem to understand that if these players were good enough then they would play. There's no doubting that our youth team has some quality, but they are still a youth team, the players are still boys..... You beginning to be a laughing stock on this forum with peopele only responding to your posts to wind you up and for thier own amusement.... Your wasting your time even posting mate..

Aside from goals, it's been pretty clear to everyone on here that Clemence has been our best centre midfielder, despite what Thracian says. How he can bring king into it i don't know, he's nowhere near ready yet!

I don't think we have had a 'best central midfielder' this season. All of them have been sh*t including Clemence. I hope that with a decent player alongside him he will raise his game.
Bert Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 beginning?? Trust me mate he was a laughing stock long before That's a bit harsh. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I hope that with a decent player alongside him he will raise his game. Agreed. The games I've seen (every home game since, er, Cardiff I think?), Clem has rather resembled a headless chicken. I was really disappointed when I came back and started watching games, only to find this was our true and mighty leader.

It's because of his reputation that he has been criticised more than others - hopefully a decent partner along side him will make him raise his game. thats if we manage to sign oakley
STUHILL Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 That's a bit harsh. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. True, but i wish he had a different one!!!
Ric Flair Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Clemence started the season well and was excellent against Watford, Forest and Villa. We've been shit and so has he for the majority of the season since then. I'd have expected more from him, but i'm old enough now to realise that even good players on their own can't make crap teams automatically play well and Clemence has suffered.

Fox in a Box Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 If we've signed Matt Oakley I will cream me pants. have you then?
Master Fox Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 What's the record for online male masturbation orgies? It seems like everyone has had a little shifty over Oakley this afternoon. Every post I read it's either ‘I’m Coming Now' 'My Pants Are Moist And My Cock Is Hard’ or ‘I’ve just Jizzed Everywhere’ or 'I'm Creaming my Pants As We Speak' I think it's disgusting!!
mancunianfox Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Agreed. The games I've seen (every home game since, er, Cardiff I think?), Clem has rather resembled a headless chicken. I was really disappointed when I came back and started watching games, only to find this was our true and mighty leader. I don't really get what he is supposed to be. He isn't a great passer of the ball by any stretch of the imagination, he's slow and he gets caught in posession. He can put a tackle in, does well defending around the box when we have men behind the ball and he has been decent at delivering set pieces. I think a more attacking player in the side will suit him because he is obviously being asked to do a job that he is not comfortable with. I think that is a reason he gives the ball away because he can does the simple things well but when he is being asked to make things happen he is indecisive because he is not naturally that kind of player. At the moment he just looks like a posh Stephen Hughes and we all know he is better than that.
