So here we are chasing two successive wins once again and tickets are like gold dust.

Has anyone got a couple to spare?

Not sure there'll be many at their end. The ground is like a shoebox.

They'd probably get a bigger crowd playing on the beach but, after last night's pitch at the Walkers, that would perhaps be seen as giving us an advantage.

I wonder how we'll play having to defend our position at the dizzy heights of 15th.

Wouldn't be surprised if Chambers came in for Stearman at right-back if the latter's injured but otherwise you cannot imagine changes although I'm damned sure I'd have made some after the performance at Norwich.

Trouble is its harder for Holloway now. He can't effectively blame defeats or sub-standard performances on the youngsters cos people like King, Sheehan and to some extent Weso and Fryatt have have been moved onto the sidelines for no great visual benefit that I can see except the one performance against Coventry who we almost always do well against at home.

Yet as fast as our home form is improving our away form is disappearing.

Horrid 1-1 hammering at Burnley, robbed by the officials at Ipswich, worse than awful at Hull, commendable draw at Wolves, dire against QPR, lucky to escape with a point from Norwich and, altogether three miserable points from six games.

It's reads almost like a press release for a new type of Football Nightmares video designed to put travelling fans off the game altogether.

But Holloway has to somehow get more goals than the opposition for the first time since we shocked ourselves and Championship football fans elsewhere by beating Bristol to record what, despite all the encouraging draws, was still only our second away League win this season back in November.

With Campbell's pace a factor again the odds of success have shortened but it's still hard to be optimistic about scoring while we forever lack sufficient support for our attacks.

I expect another attempt to "contain and nick something".

We need natural width on both flanks, not just one. So Bori and Laczko have to play. I'd also start DJ alongside Howard and have Hume and Hayles to come on if we need to change dimension.

.....but the players you mentioned all played in every game up until the commendable draw at Norwich.

But yes. Strange that he's shifted our best players out of the team, stranger still that we've claimed 7 points from 9 and kept three clean sheets in a row since their "removal to the sidelines"...simply shocking.

After last night this would be my team.

Alnwick

Stearman

Kisnorbo

McAuley

Mattock

Bori

Clem

Oakley

Laczo

Howard

Hayles

Subs Hendo N Gotty Weso Hume Campbell (would try and give DJ half an hour.)

I still think Hume has been playing well, but Hayles has just been looking more effective and him and Howard have scored more in recent games.

CANT YOU JUST BE HAPPY FOR ONE ****ING DAY?!

With our 'new look' team, we have got 2 wins and a draw. In 2 home games with our new look team, we are one away from matching our total wins at home from last season.

Im confident with this team. We have two of the best central midfielders in the Championship, who are perfectly balanced, we have options now on the wings, we have one of the Championships best centre forwards, options to pair Howard with, McAuley and Kisnorbo are showing the form that we knew they could more consistently, and we have an England under 21 golakeeper who has 3 clean sheets in 3 games.

Some people just arent happy unless they're moaning.

.....Of course he's not going to be happy King Weso and Sheehan aren't even making the squad! They're our stronget players!

Do you know what point he's actually trying to make here? Is it 'put the youngsters in and we will see free flowing Arsenal-esque football, instead of shut up shop and try and nick a goal with on paper, a few of the divisions better players'?!

Baffling.

Yes, he's point is that we've been rubbish since the Cov game.

And to be fair he's totally right.

But putting those four back in the team isn't really going to change that, and we all know how much I love my Matty as well.

True, but we have'nt played rubbish teams- two of the form sides of the division.

And putting the kids in, despite what Thracian may think, is not going to improve it.

Ah, agreed, every ****er seems to be on some magical run or another when we play them, in the past few weeks we've had Palace and Norwich on ridiculous winning streaks, QPR after their multi billion pound by out and Cov the week after the battered Blackburn 4-1 at Ewood.

Yeah thats true and i think we've done pretty well out of it considering.

So a message from me and Manwell= STOP YOUR ****ING MOANING EVERYONE! :D

More made up words Manwell? :D

And how conveniently you mention the seven points from nine and forget the hammering at QPR before that sequence started or that we got that sort of sequence under Martin Allen in August (five games unbeaten) when Weso and Sheehan were in the team.

But even with the seven from nine, if you're convinced I'm certainly not. Truth is while Coventry was a wonderful win Norwich was a Houdini act and last night was a souless bore draw until we stole the scrappiest of goals at the end and, but for that timely dunk the whole mood would have been almost back to what it was in December.

The "new team" has ground out results but, DJ apart it has so little sparkle. I don't know how many chances we created last night but it certainly wasn't many or anywhere near as many as we did against Watford, Cardiff or even Palace away. And Norwich didn't sound any different. So why do you kid yourself?

Really looking forward to this really confident we can get something from this i will be pleased with a point but this is a great chance to take all three points :scarf:

Well it's 7 points from our last 3 games and things are looking much better already.

I wouldn't like to say I think we'll win because after all we are Leicester City and consistency's not exactly something we've been familiar with over the last few seasons :ermm:

And that is a sign of a good team.

Winning whilst not at your best. Im sure you can appreciate that Thracian. :dunno:

One of the points is very simple.

Even though we sign some apparently capable players and demonstrate that we can attack, we just cannot help letting fear get the best of us and drifting back into dour and cautious football. Just a variation on a Kelly theme really.

Coventry apart we've created very little since the new team was formed. Our two wingers have become one and a centre-forward, so employed because of his legendary workrate but knowingly out of position wide on the right.

Laczko started out as a winger and is now meandering all over the place. He's rarely looked fit and already the harder work he's having to do defending is taking away from his threat as a winger, something that we always seem to do to our flankmen.

Howard has been signed to convert crosses but, Coventry apart, we've hardly delivered six decent crosses into dangerous positions since?

The team last night lacked any sort of sparkle and many people would admit it. Indeed lots of fans missed the winning goal, glad to be on their way home shaking their heads.

As this transfer window closes I'm pretty disappointed to be frank. Yes, the points we've picked up, well earned or fortuitous, have been a welcome bonus.

But after the Coventry game I'd hoped to see something of a football team emerge and, instead, I'm seeing a team that's barely able to pass the ball competently even across it's own backline. A team that's all effort but no class.

As for the youngsters no I don't like the way they been ditched and made the scapegoats for some pretty poor results achieved on the back of some bad luck with disallowed goals (Preston) and some pretty awful tactics (Burnley, Charlton at home, Palace away, Wolves away and Blackpool just for example).

Nor do I think the new team looks any better so far, Coventry apart, and Matthew Oakley excepted.

Our main problems concerning our passing and our lack of pace/mobility and creativity don't appear to have been addressed convincingly at all and now the team is "nailed on" so to speak it doesn't look like they will be

It CAN be a sign of a good team as in the case of Manchester United.

It can also be inevitable when a side gets iffy decisions as at Ipswich or Preston and Lady Luck turns the other cheek for a while.

Not even after a skinful of Barbars could I convince myself Leicester City are currently a "good team".

But I'd sure like to know what you drink. :D

Lets nail this.

Have you forgotten how dire we were pre-Holloway? This isn't about scapegoating. Its about improving the squad and our weak links.

Do you truly want to continue having Fryatt, Weso, King and Sheehan all in the starting 11?

Oakley and Clemence will/should/must play instead of King and Weso.

Fryatt is further down the pecking order than Barry Hayles. That speaks for itself.

Alan Sheehan is the only kid you have a case for. Unfortunately for him (and you), Ollie doesn't fancy him. Tough luck.

But please, for the love of God, put down you tinted glasses for once.

Posted

Agree with Karim. Furthermore, the kids are hardly scapegoats - they're kids. Do you see West Brom and Watford relying on their academy to play? No, they go out and get capable players in. The only reason we were using the kids is because the alternatives were dire. I don't think anyone would describe Clemen-

You know what, I actually can't be arsed.
