Toby or not Toby Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 Just saw the squad on setanta sports news, dont think stearman was in it though! Link: http://www.thefa.com/England/U21s/NewsAndF...sSquad_eire.htm
Ozwin Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 He's definately a player with huge potential and he excites me. People talk about letting him go for the right price but if a player of his age is being called up to the England U-21 squad and plays for us week in week out, I say keep him. We might have a right wonderkid on our hands.
RowlattsFox Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 Alnwick is usually in the squad, as soon as he comes to us he loses his place.
MikeyT Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 Yeah well done to the lad! Deserves it! But no Stearman this time!
Benji Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 But no Stearman this time! DURR! he'll be on the 3:30pm team sheet
TrickyTrev Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 Very surprised to see Aaron Lennon in the U-21 squad. If he is not one of the two best right wingers in the country then I'm a monkeys dutchman.
FleckneyFox Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 Alnwick is usually in the squad, as soon as he comes to us he loses his place. How is he not in ahead of Man Utd's 4th choice & Peterborough's keepers
WetFlannel Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 Very surprised to see Aaron Lennon in the U-21 squad. If he is not one of the two best right wingers in the country then I'm a monkeys dutchman. Should definately start right midfield for the first team. I think hes an excellent player.
Joe. Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 Stearman's playing much better now than when he got the call up last time. Still, doesn't surprise me to not see him included to be honest.
Dames Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 Good job. Proves he has a future at this level and that the last call up wasn't a one off.
Jack Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 Well done to Mattock. Stearman has improved big time over the past few months and hopefully if he carries that on he will be included next time.
Tommy G Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 He's definately a player with huge potential and he excites me. People talk about letting him go for the right price but if a player of his age is being called up to the England U-21 squad and plays for us week in week out, I say keep him. We might have a right wonderkid on our hands. here we go again Well done to Joe - excellent stuff, I hope he starts
Trav Le Bleu Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 Great stuff! I thought he was one of the better players against Palace and Pearce obviously thought the same.

"We might have a right wonderkid on our hands." Didn't take long to fill that vacancy! :D

The Reverend Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 Very surprised to see Aaron Lennon in the U-21 squad. If he is not one of the two best right wingers in the country then I'm a monkeys dutchman. Shaun Wright Phillips, David Bentley, Agbonlathewhore can play there all better than him on current form. He's been injured for a while dont forget.
sdb Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 Shaun Wright Phillips, David Bentley, Agbonlathewhore can play there all better than him on current form. He's been injured for a while dont forget. agreed. lennon is a very good player but needs to improve in the final 3rd imo. final pass/cross is usually inaccurate (forgetting last weekend). a bit like pennant with more pace. Bentley's probably the best performing RM at the mo, although i'd go for SWP or Joe Cole there.

I think he has been brilliant since Juande Ramos has been there. SWP , I like players with at least some awareness of what is going on around them. Abonglahor is a forward, it will be a shame if we stick him wide in a 442. I like Bentley a lot, he was the other player i had in mind, but Lennon adds pace to an England side that desperately lacks it.
Bryn Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 I think he looks set to start, no other leftbacks in the squad.
Father Ted Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 Alnwick is usually in the squad, as soon as he comes to us he loses his place. I don't understand that either. Especially as here he is getting first-team football and hasn't conceded a goal in 3 games.

Ah well, he might aswell be here getting to know his defenders more than travel with the under 21's and sit on the bench.
