Koke Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 I was watching the Democratic debate this morning on CNN during my breakfast. Only caught them debating the health care issue and the ever lasting immigration topic. From what I've seen of Obama, he does come across as a genuine and honest bloke but then against he's a politician and that's his job. I like a lot of his ideas and if I was American I reckon I'd be sliding towards him.
FilboFox Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Yeah, I've been watching and I'm really interested in what the outcome will be... as for Obama being honest and by the book, well, he may seem that way but it was a below the belt jab at the Clinton's to get the Kennedy's to speak up for them. I've always been for Hillary cause she seems the more capable of the both of them... more experienced too... I also don't think that Obama will win cause he's black... I hate to say it cause it oughtn't be a problem these days but a lot of American's will vote for Hillary because they don't want a black person in charge... then again... do they want a woman in charge either? Its gonna be interesting on Tuesday... whatever the outcome, the Democrats will win overall so thats that.
Koke Posted 1 February 2008 Author Posted 1 February 2008 Obama claims he'll sign a universal health care plan into law in his first term in office, provided he gets there of course. Majority of the Americans despise Universal health care, mainly because it'll turn out to be far more expensive for all of the health problems in the US (or so they say). The insurance companies just gets richer, yet still provide the citizens with an inadequate amount of health care. We'll see though, it'll be interesting.
Koke Posted 1 February 2008 Author Posted 1 February 2008 As for Obama being black and Hilary being a woman. Its quite nice to see for a change though isn't it If Obama doesn't get elected as president then I can't see a black man ever becoming president of US. A bold statement I know.
Dr The Singh Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 The republicans should get a black women as a candidate, she would solve all the issues the democrats have and win with a landslide!!!
Manwell Pablo Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Yeah, I've been watching and I'm really interested in what the outcome will be... as for Obama being honest and by the book, well, he may seem that way but it was a below the belt jab at the Clinton's to get the Kennedy's to speak up for them.I've always been for Hillary cause she seems the more capable of the both of them... more experienced too... Koke Posted 1 February 2008 Author Posted 1 February 2008 The republicans should get a black women as a candidate, she would solve all the issues the democrats have and win with a landslide!!! Ah Yes. And Hilary should be giving blowjobs to her husband anyway, I dunno what she's doing running for president.
lookwhaticando Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 The Republicans need McCain to win. And by that, I mean they need to nominate him. Obviously. McCain is the only one, at present, in with a shout of toppling either Clinton's celebrity power and Obama's airy-fairy substance-lacking hope/change campaign - which ever he should find himself up against. Present polls indicate he'd win either contest were it put to the nation.
MC Prussian Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Both Democrat candidates are highly favoured, but it was an unfortunate choice to send a woman and an African American into the very same election battle. They're stealing each others votes. Who would you rather see in DC? 230 years of White Man dominance and then come along them two...
The People's Hero Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Polls are useless. I swear there was a poll on here that suggested we'd go up as Champions this season.
Head Honcho Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Obama will get crucified on the international stage. He has no credentials whatsoever to take charge of a world superpower and if he's selected to be the Democratic candidate the American people will eventually see the light and vote for McCain or Huckabee. If Clinton wins on Tuesday they may vote for her as president and I get the feeling she may do a decent job. I was a fan of Bill Clinton not so much Hilary though so I'm indifferent as to whether she gets the top job.
breadandcheese Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 As for Obama being black and Hilary being a woman. Its quite nice to see for a change though isn't it If Obama doesn't get elected as president then I can't see a black man ever becoming president of US. A bold statement I know. There seems to be a strong feeling that sex is more of a barrier than race in this presidential contest. That perhaps Hilary being a woman is more of a barrier to the vote of leader than Obama being black (I think because Obama presents himself as non-black with the perception this has in the minds of the voter).
Smiffy Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 The Republicans need McCain to win. And by that, I mean they need to nominate him. Obviously. Present polls indicate he'd win either contest were it put to the nation. Thats true, but you also have to take into account that the Republicans have had a vote in Florida and the Dems have not...therefore, having a larger number of delegate votes. I don't think that race should have much of an impact on this because the only states where that is a big issue are the country bumkin redneck states which generally go to the republicans anyway. The major states to win are New York, Florida, California and Ohio. New York and California are Democratic liberal states and Florida and California are swing states. But I do agree that the only way the republicans have a chance at this election is through McCain. He is managing to pull a lot of independants and some democrats, also.
Smiffy Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Wont have citizenship by that time unfortunately. But if either of Obama/Clinton and McCain are running I'm really not bothered. I consider myself independent but lean more to the Dems.
Smiffy Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Either way, it'll be a breath of fresh air from Bush!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 I went over for the Washington primary and hurled abuse at one of the Democrat candidates. But don't blame me, when they announced "Barack Obama" I thought it was an instruction!
James. Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Either way, it'll be a breath of fresh air from Bush! You have to be down there quite some time before that becomes an issue.
Smiffy Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 You have to be down there quite some time before that becomes an issue. Ah, was waiting for that
Hullfox Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 A second Bush in power has not done a great deal for the country, I just wonder whether a second Clinton would really work. If Obama can keep it a non black/white/latino agenda I think he'll nick it.
Rincewind Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 When is it actually decided? It seems to be going on for years. I read a bit about the candidates in a pullout mag and saw a bit about Obsama where he said his colour did not matter so was not doing a black power campaign. Different but radicals will not like it. They want candidates to be one way or another.
Head Honcho Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 A second Bush in power has not done a great deal for the country, I just wonder whether a second Clinton would really work.If Obama can keep it a non black/white/latino agenda I think he'll nick it. He won't though will he? His massive campaign fund has been paid for by people who previously had no interest in politics because they thought there was no one out there that understood them. His campaigners have managed to get over a hundred thousand people (mostly black and latino) to cough up up to $200 each so there's no way he's not going to go for that vote. I haven't got a problem with him personally I just don't think he will be a strong enough leader.
Hullfox Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 [/b]He won't though will he? Probably not and I think that will be devisive.
placidcasual Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Obama will get crucified on the international stage. He has no credentials whatsoever to take charge of a world superpower and if he's selected to be the Democratic candidate the American people will eventually see the light and vote for McCain or Huckabee. I must have missed the Arkansas being admitted to the G8. What are Huckabees credentials?
Head Honcho Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 I must have missed the Arkansas being admitted to the G8.What are Huckabees credentials? .................and your point is? I'm no fan of McCain or Huckabee. I was just making the point that if Obama gets the Democratic vote the Republicans will play on his inexperience as a politician and may well go on to win the election.
