davieG Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 we were led to believe that ZLs first touch was still a bit off, today, tho it was clear he improved during the game, does this sound about right?i must say, i though, when he came on, that it was a good time for him to start, with the team having some momentum and confidence behind them... I think that's pretty fair, I got the impression they were still a bit reluctant to pass to him but just being there out wide proved advantageous. I also thought he did a decent amount of defensive work. If we going to use wingers and he's going to be one of them we really need to give him a chance to play a few games to get used to the style, such that it is.
davieG Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 Ian Holloway says he is now in search of consistency following his side's 4-0 thrashing of Norwich City at the Walkers Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Foxes had gone into the game on the back of a run of three straight defeats. But Holloway's men dusted themselves down and put in arguably their finest performance of the season to date to see off Glenn Roeder's side in front of almost 26,000 supporters. Holloway said: "I think the players made a statement today. They looked a little bit wobbly at the start on a difficult surface, but once the first goal went in we looked confident. "If we could give these lads a goal start every week I think we would have a very good team on our hands. They have got to learn that if they do go behind and we don't get what we deserve then we have got to keep fighting and battling. Every one of them has done that today and I am pleased for them. "The players have all responded well after we made some terrible mistakes against Plymouth. That was the turning point for me. I have told them to just get out there and enjoy yourselves. "They deserved that today and we have not just got to get a bit of consistency. "This division is so tight. If we can win our next two games then it is perfectly feasible that we could go above Norwich. You'd have thought we were 20 points behind them if you listened to the way people were talking in the build up to the game. Absolute poppycock." Holloway also revealed that both Richard Stearman and Joe Mattock were both back up on their feet having left the game through injury. He added: "Thankfully it doesn't seem that the injuries are as bad as we first feared. We should know more early next week."
Staf Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 Absolutely delighted really didnt expect to win against Norwich i thought we played the ball around really well and it was a pleasure to watch for the second time this season i didnt want the full time whistle to go but overall a brilliant day and Covscum got battered

Hopefully that twat Russell will get a fine for that challenge
Webbo Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 When I heard Ollie on the radio on the way home I thought he sounded very defensive. It seemed as if all the previous criticism had got to him.
Father Ted Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 Sheff weds singIf you dont f**king bounce, if you dont f**king bounce then you're a blaaade Very pleased with the result and glad we finished them off in style. Lee Croft is one hell of a player at this level it has to be said. One hell of a cheat. He's learning too many things from Huckerby.
SamL Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 Thankfully, Stearman's injury isn't as bad as it looked. Back on his feet at the end of the game according to Ollie.
clazkel Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 i agree that he should be saying that they need to play like this and get results consistently but he could at least sound pleased that we won so convincingly Yeah i agree, it did annoy me abit when i heard Ollie on the radio, he didn't give the players the credit they deserved, and he always manages to mention the previous manager and the players he inherited that weren't good enough and how he has had to change things (he can't keep moaning about the players he inherited, it isn't fair on them and it musn't do alot for their confidence). He needs to stop talking about the past and talk about the future. But he picked the right team today, well done Ollie and the lads, especially Hume and Clemence!
Brainy Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 Without reading much in this thread, what was the pitch like today? Any better than recent times?
WetFlannel Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 Without reading much in this thread, what was the pitch like today? Any better than recent times? See! It was the pitches fault!
Smudge Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 Might have to change my sig Here ya Davie, hang on to this.
MikeyT Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 Without reading much in this thread, what was the pitch like today? Any better than recent times? The pitch looked like poo!!!
STUHILL Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 Very happy with the result. Norwich were very poor. I still think we have lots to work on. Still too many Long balls, and lose passing in the midfield. Lots of positives though. Blinding performance from Hume on the wing. Some great finishing. Great defensive performance. I wouldn't hold on to Clapham in the summer though, looked slow and against better teams, could be a real weakness for us. Lackzo did ok, final product not there yet though, but gets in to some great positions. 4-0 was probably flattering for way we played, altho it could have been more plus Norwich were so poor!! haha Dion Dublin!!!!!!! Overall great day out and a much needed confidence booster!!
Darkzzz_ Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 Just got back now, bloody traffic.... Well happy with that today, great performance, some good peroids of play... Someone kicked Clem up the ass because he had a blinder today....
davieG Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 Here ya Davie, hang on to this. It's nailed to my seat.
ITFC4Me Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 Cheers for giving Nodge a good old fashion hammering today. Youve made my day
Matt Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 When I heard Ollie on the radio on the way home I thought he sounded very defensive. It seemed as if all the previous criticism had got to him. He did seem pissed off, To be expected really, He doesn't have seemed to be his self since the Phone in, doubt it'd have been down to that but along with other criticism he's had from fans and papers, e.t.c, not been his usual self on the touchline/interviews, e.t.c. Hopefully the line can be drawn now, although again it's only one game, we need more than one game. Anyway that game - Very good, we looked good again, and the difference between us looking good against Coventry, and looking good today, Norwich weren't what i'd call poor, which Coventry did, not taking anything away from us in that match but Coventry's poorness against us made us look good IMO, Norwich obviously weren't at there best but they were by no mean poor. When we win, We win well, It just getting the wins, I'm not getting too excited done it too many times to fall flat on my face, but i'm gonna struggle to contain my excitement for the Coventry match next week. Since Wednesday when I bought my Coventry ticket's i've been thinking why the fuk have I got these, Why?! But this is exactly what the players and us fans need to lift us for this game, The fact Coventry lost today, even better - Although we could receive the backlash from their thrashing today.
maddog Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 Im not going to get slightly excited about next weeks game now. Everyone played well 2day and we got a good win, Norwich did seem to give up a bit though. For once im going to be calm, Cov have just got beat 5-0 at home today with us winning 4-0. I expect another false dawn, we will play shocking next week and lose. Also Barnsley beat Liverpool

maddog Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 Play offs maddog, no? Sadly no, we haven't caught up any points on the playoffs today even with our win. We missed our chance in the last 3 games which we needed to win, but lost them all.
Joe. Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 Dion Dublin's inability to score and Norwich's inability to keep a clean sheet cost me a whole pound. ****ers.
Matt Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 Dion Dublin's inability to score and Norwich's inability to keep a clean sheet cost me a whole pound. ****ers. I lost 2 And the rest I lost on bastard Horses today. I had Dion Dublin first scorer, Leicester to win 2-1 and DJ Campbell first scorer, Leicester to win 1-0. On the way out I had a look at Hume first scorer, Leicester to win 4-0 and it was 250/1
Fox You Forest Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 Just got back now, bloody traffic....Well happy with that today, great performance, some good peroids of play... Someone kicked Clem up the ass because he had a blinder today.... Its because Big Ray was watching him Cracking win, Hume and Clemence were brilliant today.
Joe. Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 You could call it a response. I don't know what got into our players today. We almost have the worst scoring record in the league and we go and stick four past a team that's 13 games unbeaten And it was comfortable too Beautiful.
