LeeCovFox Posted 21 February 2008 Posted 21 February 2008 I remember the campaign to ban the cane when I was at school, all the do-gooders said that schools and society would become less violent as a result. Does anybody agree that that's what happened? When I was at school the pupils feared the teachers now it's the other way round. You're not supposed to fear your teachers. Fear does not engender respect. Unless you are a journalist for the Daily Mail of course.
FilboFox Posted 21 February 2008 Posted 21 February 2008 I got smaked everytime I stepped out of line. Not only by my parents + family. But random folks in the community did give me a proper bollocking and sometimes a slap across the face whenever I did something wrong. And if I complained to my mum that so and so had twisted my ear, she would then give me another bollocking. Today youths lack dicipline. A lot of dicipline. Bring back the old timers I say. Here here! I was given a right rollocking every time I did something bad... the youths of today get away with fooking ANYTHING! I mean, I'm only 19 but things have changed A LOT since I was 8-12 years old... Bring back the demon headmaster!!! EEK!!!
Daggers Posted 21 February 2008 Posted 21 February 2008 Pathetic. A sensible topic for once and all of you lot can come up with are a bunch of flippant answers. The decline of modern society has clearly been mapped to the end in production of the Marathon Bar and the start of Byker Grove.

Mickey O'Neil Posted 21 February 2008 Posted 21 February 2008 Bring back the demon headmaster!!! I had a fecking nun as a headmistress and she was fecking scary. I didn't have true respect for her at the time, but i daren't step out of line in 5 years!! Looking back though, I've got respec' for her now!! It's wrong that teachers are afraid of pupils, and my blame is fully on the doorstep of the Government.

It's wrong that teachers are afraid of pupils, and my blame is fully on the doorstep of the Government. It's a bit of a mis-conception that teachers are scared of students. Many actually enjoy teaching some pupils, mainly at a higher level (6th Form) though. I wouldn't say they are scared of the High School kids, they just don't like doing it! If the kids were taught by their parents, like I was, to respect the teachers then they're wouldn't be any problem. Obviously they're are some teachers who are complete cu nts, and deserve the abuse they get. Also if the teachers could control the class, it would help in many cases.
Zingari Posted 21 February 2008 Posted 21 February 2008 i blame an excess of alcoholic drink (for me not to be able to answer the question)

I wouldn't say teachers are all scared of pupils, but they definitely feel intimidated by them (some).
