Joe. Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 I like Ched's team because I'm not sure it's even worth us bothering with wingers at the moment. They're exactly what we need at the moment but the poor quality ones that we actually have aren't going to get us anywhere. In my opinion we have quite a few good options through the middle in Clemence, Oakley, Hendrie, King and Weso mainly. Seeing as the winger situation doesn't look like improving much between now and the end of the season perhaps we should think about using the middle of the park a bit more to our advantage and see Hume playing in a position that suits him much more than right wing. Makes sense to me.

RowlattsFox Posted 28 February 2008 Posted 28 February 2008 Alnwick Stearman---N Gotty---Kisnorbo---ClaphamHendrie---Oakley---KingHumeHoward---DJ I don't think that will work to be honest, I know our wingers are a problem but I don't see how condensing the midfield will help, I just think they will all get in each others way. Also Stearman and Clapham will be left isolated against their winger and then the overlapping full backs. It may be something we could try, possibly at home but I don't think Cardiff is the right game to do it.

STUHILL Posted 29 February 2008 Posted 29 February 2008 HENDOStearman N'gotty Kisnorbo Clapham Hendrie Oakley Clemence© Hume DJ Howard If Hume can constantly change and roam on both wings and always be moving in to space to receive the ball, plus Hendrie is fit, that could work. We got to face our 4-4-2 with the wingers we got isn't working very well. Time to try something new or relentlessly persist?? Hmmm tough call
maddog Posted 29 February 2008 Posted 29 February 2008 This is such a HUGE game. All the teams around us have winnable games so if we lose this one we will have to beat Preston. The teams below us play: S****horpe V Coventry (24th V 18th) Colchester V Wolves (23rd V 10th) Barnsley V Sheff Wed (16th V 22nd) Preston V Palace (21st V 11th) Southampton V Ipswich (19th V 7th) Then theres our game: Cardiff V Leicester (13th V 20th) Most of the teams below us have home games, which makes them all winnable. S****horpe play Covscum so one of those teams or both will get points. Sheff Wed have a winnable game at Barnsley, even we won there last season. Ipswich away form is miserable, Southampton have a new manager, they could easily win. Wolves have been average, Colchester are tough to play at their home ground of name which i have forgotten. If we lose to Cardiff and Preston we will be fooked.

Thracian Posted 1 March 2008 Posted 1 March 2008 don't panic Despair is more the feeling. It's very like last season and it's got Mandaric's stamp all over it. Even the pattern has been the same since the ageing of the team began... Brief resurgence ending against Crystal Palace and then, Norwich excepted, results which have plunged us further down into the mire than before. Last season there was the Grat Escape, prompted I am quite certain, by the fans whose non-stop support was almost heroic. I just don't feel the same atmosphere exists this time. It may revive but to me there's this overwhelming sense of apathy and frustration. Fans are divided. Experience is what we need at this time, say some. Fading stars are the last thing we need say others. Me, I just look at today's prospective team and think we've gone nowhere. There's no sparkle. Not one single player who gets you on the edge of your seat in anticiaption that something might happen. There's no Gradel, no Guppy, no Glover, no Gibbo, no Worthington. It's a team of functionaries. And there's no Walsh or Graham Cross to lead em. They'll be transformed into instant heroes if they win in Cardiff. No question. And the suggestion is that Cardiff will be much weakened so the chance is there. But return with nothing and I really will wonder if this time we won't get to be as fortunate as last season. Yes, despair is the word. Normally on match day I'm all antipation. Whether setting out to watch or listening on the radio. Now I feel that that all we can do is hope. And when Henderson's sent into a game on the back of learning that we really tried to borrow an alternative I think how will he be feeling? And that worries me big time.
