Thracian Posted 30 March 2008 Posted 30 March 2008 Oh yes.He didn't stop talking. The ambulance had to come out three times to revive Tigers fans who had collapsed due to a deficit of oxygen at our end of the pub. I myself drowsed off twice during his longest monologue. It's so long since King played - in first team or reserves - that he might have sold his boots!
Daggers Posted 30 March 2008 Posted 30 March 2008 It's so long since King played - in first team or reserves - that he might have sold his boots! And for the second time in a week I heard the given reason being that he simply doesn't carry his fitness without regular match-time. I really find his exclusion to be odd.
Simi Posted 30 March 2008 Posted 30 March 2008 And for the second time in a week I heard the given reason being that he simply doesn't carry his fitness without regular match-time.I really find his exclusion to be odd. It's true. I think he has problems with asthma as well.

Ric Flair Posted 31 March 2008 Posted 31 March 2008 Fair enough but all I see is Kid's chumming him up because he is from Lubenham. If he was not local then would he get the same treatment as Clem does? Stearman got dogs abuse by fans on here and at games before xmas, some of the abuse was bang out of order. Since the end of December he has been different class and the fans are showing their appreciation of his performances. Most fans are fickle. If players play well and the team does well, then the players will be lauded as legends and manager's as the new MON. If they under achieve then the fans will abuse them. Your no different either. I've seen you change your mind about people more times than a person with a Multi Spectrum Personality Disorder. I probably have as well. Bottom line is, Holloway hasn't really achieved anything at this club yet and although it's early days, he's had the full backing of a very ruthless chairman and been given plenty of financial clout as well. Yet, our league position is no better than when he arrived 4-5 months ago. You can let the fans know that you never doubted his ability as a manager every time we win a game, but just like you've stated Stearman will have to show a more sustained period of quality before you forgive him for his dreadful performances of last season and the start of this season, isn't that slightly contradictory? You want people to lay off Holloway, but conceed that a player you have been very vocal of your dissatisfaction before has got a lot more to do than 4 months of quality performances before your opinion changes of him? Hmmm ok.
Manwell Pablo Posted 31 March 2008 Posted 31 March 2008 The fickle nature of our fans has got progresively worse since I've been on these boards. It's just a joke now. One good performance and a player is considered on form, one bad performance and he's been "poor for quite some time" one win manager in, one loss manager out. It's terrible.

Absolutely, right now it's a case if we lose a game we are dead cert's for relegation and then a win and we're on course for survival. The fact is we are shit and have been for several seasons, no other ways of dressing it up.

Since the end of December he has been different class and the fans are showing their appreciation of his performances. Most fans are fickle. Stearman deserved every ounce of abuse he was receiving before Xmas - and the praise since he has started making an effort and proving his worth to the team. This has nothing to do with being fickle and everything to do with being sentient. Most of the knee-jerk reactions on here belong to children; kids do that. Most others change their opinions over time based on a collection of experiences and knowledge - I find that perfectly reasonable. I supported the acquisition of the club by Mandaric but now believe him to be bad for the club. I welcomed the new manager but the longer Holloway is here the more I don't believe the team is responding to him. Does that make me fickle?

SOmetimes it's just easier to hate all of em, that way you just con't lose!!!
hackneyfox Posted 31 March 2008 Posted 31 March 2008 P.S 95% of the supporters in the Kop suck Donkey balls, as far as supporting the team goes How long have you been going for Kilworth?

Strangely enough you'd think that would make you an entirely normal well balanced individual but we all know that isn't correct so taht leaves me stumped over this fickle fan debate.

No not at all, i'd like to think i'm of that mould as well. But there is an element of fickleness in most fans, but the biggest culprits were born later than the late 80's.
Daggers Posted 31 March 2008 Posted 31 March 2008 Bless them. Your logical reasoning skills would be buggered too if you'd spent all of your formative years being dumped by your parents into a ball pit.

Daggers Posted 31 March 2008 Posted 31 March 2008 N Block next season - three foam-clad climbing stations and a giant ball pit

He is one person and we are a forum of hundreds, I am fed up of coming on here finding manager out threads after every single defeat and where are the Holloway haters now threads when we win, if thats not fickle I don't know what is.
Legend_in_blue Posted 31 March 2008 Posted 31 March 2008 Get behind the manager, he's a top bloke! :w00t: Would you rather have Dowie? No thanks.
Dr The Singh Posted 31 March 2008 Posted 31 March 2008 N Block next season - three foam-clad climbing stations and a giant ball pit Well aslong as it doesn't sober me up, that's fine.......I left with Daggars and co on a real nice buzz (yes, i'm a light weight), 10 minutes into the game, i'm more sober then a judge!!!!
Fat Ron Posted 31 March 2008 Posted 31 March 2008 Get behind the manager, he's a top bloke! :w00t: Would you rather have Dowie? No thanks. I would rather we let Milan pick the team than have Dowie.
Dr The Singh Posted 31 March 2008 Posted 31 March 2008 Fans fan of fans. That must make you a fan of a fan of me????? Which there probably isn't one!!!
Master Fox Posted 31 March 2008 Posted 31 March 2008 That must make you a fan of a fan of me????? Which there probably isn't one!!! I'm more of a fan of Minjeet if i'm honest.
Dr The Singh Posted 31 March 2008 Posted 31 March 2008 I'm more of a fan of Minjeet if i'm honest. He does have alot of long distance fans, he is legendary in this part of the world!! Although when they do meet him in person, they seem to want to get away????? How come your chummy chummy with him these days???
andy_croydz Posted 31 March 2008 Posted 31 March 2008 I agree that Holloway is a good manager and we should stick with him. When was the last time this club had any stability? Last time I can remember was when Micky Adams was in charge and even then we changed half the team every season. If you give Holloway a good few years then I'm sure he will build a team fit for challenging for this division. I think we have enough in the tank to stay up and what good would it do if we sacked Holloway? Didn't do us any good when we sacked Worthington, Martin Allen or Gary Megson. Ok Megson was debatable because most fans didn't like him but we didn't exactly storm up the table after we sacked any of those 3 managers did we? I'm not criticising City fans here because I understand why you get on the players backs or the managers back but ever since I was a young kid and my uncle used to take me down to the games I can remember City fans always having a go at the players and the team as a whole, even when we wasn't playing too badly. Nothing has changed really, I suppose it's a bit worse now because of the fact we are in danger of going down to League 1 and most fans still remember the glory days of 1997-2001 and that gives them even more incentive to give the team stick! But we need to back them even when they are playing badly, not going to do anybody any good when you are slating players or the manager, just going to make them even more on edge at home and that usually leads to mistakes that cost goals!
