You've got to realize Beswick is playing Under 18's/Reserves football. If he's as good as you're saying he is, why isn't he playing? It's not like we've got loads of options on the left hand side is it? I'm not disagreeing with you because I've never seen him play.

I just love that. Reminds me of George Orwell's 1984. Some are mor equal than others when it comes to getting chances. What is it, 31 chances so far this season alone. :whistle:

Ah yes, I was a little tired before I wrote that post.

What I meant was apart from Howard's hatrick, none of our strikers are really scoring. Yes Humes scored a few goals but most of them were from free kicks or penalties which Fryatt doesn't take. I can see peoples point that if he's not scoring then he shouldn't play, but who is scoring? Nobody.

I didn't think Fryatt had too badder game against S****horpe, minus the poor miss, he chased a lot down and tried to put himself about a bit. By all means it wasn't the greatest of performances, but we're still yet to see the best out of him. I appreciate we can't keep giving him time to come up with the goods because thats not going to be beneficial for us, but if he gets a solid run in the team you never know.

Unfortunately Beswick isn't nowhere near the first team at the moment. If he's as good as you say he is then it's a shame really but you can't expect other people to agree with you if they haven't seen the lad play.

The team I'd go for would be:-

Henderson

Stearman Kisnorbo N'Gotty Mattock

Etuhu Weso Oakley Bell

Howard Hume/Fryatt

Subs:- Hume/Fryatt, Laczko, King, Mcauley, J.Chambers

I have a feeling Ollie will stick Hume out on one of the wings again. I'd be tempted to go with Fryatt up front because although he missed a few sitters against S****horpe, on another day they might go in. The lad isn't going to get any confidence by getting dropped every game. As I said yesterday, give him half of next season and if he's still not performing then get rid. I'm not a Fryatt lover but if the lad gets some confidence then hopefully we might start to see the best of him.

So if Beswick "isn't nowhere near the first team", then he must be somewhere near the first team...sorry ..had to pick up on the double negative.

If the kid can score, give him a crack...if after 45 he is out of place, then put etuhu on.

Take a point Saturday and be happy.Let the others around us fall on thier own sword and enjoy the trip to Luton etc next season.

There's very few occasions I'd advocate the often visually offensive 4-5-1 but the Sheffield game is one of them.

Having won our last game and with our superior goal difference, one win and two draws might just be enough to save us and a draw at Bramall Lane in the circumstances might be acceptable especially if the line up gave us just the sneaking chance of a win.

Two players, King and Beswick are key. Because both can attack and defend.

My choice:

Henderson;

Stearman, McAuley, Kisnorbo, Mattock;

Bell, King, N'Gotty, Oakley, Beswick;

Howard.

Subs: Chambers, Weso, Fryatt, Campbell, Hayles.

Strange? Maybe but King is excellent at ghosting into the penalty box and can score with head or feet. With two genuine wide players, there's no reason we should work the ball into the box and the prescence of King, Oakley, Howard should give us the chance to get someone on the end of it.

Beswick takes quality free-kicks and having Howard, N'Gotty, King, McAuley, Kisnorbo to get on the end of them would almost be MON in concept - the kamikaze squad. Having proper wide men would give us a better chance of more corners/free-kicks so that would be my approach.

Having the three centre-backs would also allow our wing-backs to drive forward, particularly as both King and Beswick are good coverers.

What I think Ollie will go for. The way he was talking about Laczko suggests a return to me. I think Fryatt will retain his place.

Beswick is predominantly a left sided player. Why put someone in the team on the basis of what one person has said?

Mine too. This has confirmed to me that Thracian is actually demented.

I have 3 main points to make:

1) The problem with playing howard up front has been that when he flicks the ball on, players haven't been there to pick up the flick ons. How is that situation going to change if he plays up on his own?! Howard is terribly suited to playing the lone striker role.

2) N'Gotty is not a central midfielder. Everyone bangs on about his good distribution, but it's only good for a cb because we're used to kisnorbo and mcauley hoofing it. Every time he's played centre mid he's looked slow and a comparitively poor passer of the ball.

3) Ryan Beswick fan club - There is a reason he hasn't played - he's not ready. The manager looks at these players every day, not once a week in reserve matches that are so uncompetitive that they're totally unrepresentative.
