The People's Hero Posted 15 April 2008 Author Posted 15 April 2008 How do you know about Lloyd Hume? Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuume!
StanSP Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 @The People's Hero Found it for ya. Where's Lloyd Hume these days?
The People's Hero Posted 21 June 2016 Author Posted 21 June 2016 Don't quote me on this, but possibly Thamesmead? Things can change quickly in non-league football though. Just googled it and he was there last year so I reckon that's the answer.. MUFC seriously impressive at times last year. Pretty much an unthinkable season to be a LCFC and Stones fan!
KFS Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 Went to see them over Christmas since my parents just moved there. Went to school with one of the player's sister- used to hate him when I was a kid because he played for Forest Think they can keep it going, good little set up! Is the artificial pitch going to cause problems as once feared?
The People's Hero Posted 22 June 2016 Author Posted 22 June 2016 tinpot club no history Trying not to bite. Assume you've checked?
Izzy Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 I have a vague recollection of watching us play away at Maidstone in the early 90's. It must have been a friendly I guess, but there was definitely a good number of Leicester there. I think it was a midweek night match and I seem to recall we went there on our way down to Ipswich the day after. Some of my mates were in court for some trouble away at Ipswich the season before, so we went down to Ipswich to give them some morale support If anyone went to Maidstone that night and can remember what the game was about and what year it was, I'd love to know!
Guest Electric Yetis Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 Played Maidstone home and away in the cup early in the 91/92 season. Think we won 3-0 away and 1-0 at home. Paul Kitson scored a couple of crackers.
Guest Electric Yetis Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 Close enough just the scores the wrong way around.
The People's Hero Posted 22 June 2016 Author Posted 22 June 2016 Close enough just the scores the wrong way around. Good memory. Can't have been much later that the Maidstone United Chairman sold the ground.
The People's Hero Posted 22 June 2016 Author Posted 22 June 2016 In fact the London Road ground had already been sold and they were playing in Dartford at that time.
Izzy Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 http://www.11v11.com/matches/maidstone-united-v-leicester-city-28-august-1991-32331/ Good old Google. Knew the game would be out there on the interweb somewhere Ahh, the days of playing in the Rumbelows cup 1st round 1,688 attendance. Reckon about half of that was Leicester that night...

The club had budgeted on being in the lower division one more year at least and to do the stand one year and pitch the next. There has been a huge outlay on those two aspects so precious little invested really in playing staff. Not unusual at that level, but probably less investment than even in previous years at lower levels. Hope they can stay up.
The People's Hero Posted 5 August 2016 Author Posted 5 August 2016 For anyone interested, they are on TV tomorrow.

Family both old and very young are taking me out for dinner, I'm unfortunately 32 on Monday, I expect to hear a blow by blow account of this truly historical footballing event on Sunday in the pub though.

I feel like 40 is hounding me down till I can no longer run. No, holding pretty firm. Also not doing bad on the grey front which is always the problem for those of us with jet black hair either, although they are increasing in numbers slowly.
