Legend_in_blue Posted 1 May 2008 Posted 1 May 2008 Why would I be able to explain what is in Holloway's mind. Either about Beswick or a dozen other things I don't understand.I do know that as a result of using his skills and better judgement he's allowed our team to slip four places down the lead and deep into relegation trouble so if I knew what was in his mind it probably wouldn't make sense to me anyway. So if you want an honest answer ask Holloway. But if you're suggesting that because he's not been picked people like Laczko or Hayles or Hume or Mattock make better attacking left midfielders then I disagree. And so would a good many people who take the trouble to watch them fairly regularly. Leicester clearly didn't think it would matter much losing Gradel for the season and Holloway thought he could do without Shush!. I said we would regret losing the goals they'd be involved with and that has proved the case beyond any doubt in my mind whatsoever. I could quote other examples too but, bottom line, I'd far sooner back my own judgement than Holloway's thanks. Especially when looking at Leicester's position in the League. Since Shee-han was let out on loan it has provided a lack of quality service from the left. He was the best left footed dead ball specialist at the club and we let him go. That was a nonsense. And then Gradel is on the TV last Sunday running past this and that faster than I've seen any Leicester player move in 4 seasons and he's never kicked a ball in our first team. Why? Surely he cannot be any worse than what is there already. And don't give me the "he's not ready crap". If he's good enough, which he looks to me from what I saw, then put him in. We need drive and a determination to succeed. That doesn't come from the likes of old man Clapham. Get him out and put Mattock in on Sunday please.

Shee-han's balls were quality but defensively, well in every other way he is shocking. Apparently there was a clause saying Gradel has to end his loan at Bournemouth and he can't cut it short. And Clapham is crap
Legend_in_blue Posted 1 May 2008 Posted 1 May 2008 Shee-han's balls were quality but defensively, well in every other way he is shocking. Apparently there was a clause saying Gradel has to end his loan at Bournemouth and he can't cut it short. And Clapham is crap I don't think Shee-han is that shocking tbh. He's quite young and prone to mistakes yes, but so is Mattock. Yet people don't seem to highlight his shortcomings in quite the same way. And he doesn't do a freekick as well either. Maybe because he's in the England set-up people cut him some slack. Personally, I really can't tell the difference between the two defensively. And yes, Clapham is defo crap.

I'm sort of with you to be honest. If it wasn't for Thracian's love towards him, I think he'd get a lot more respect on this forum, but people seem to like to see him failing to prove him wrong. That's how I see it at times anyway. I always liked Shush!, a club in our posistion needs all the chances it can get to score goals, the fact is, Shush! provided that, whether it was with dead balls or crosses. Would certainly of been interesting to see how him and Howard linked up, but it now seems we won't get the chance to find out. When he does leave for good, I do hope Thrac drops it a bit! But we shall see.

It is ironic though that only now, when our obsession with experience has become part of our undoing yet again, far more posters are showing some appreciation for these young players. What a pity that appreciation wasn't more apparent within the club before our situation became a crisis. I may irritate you and one or two others but at least I've maintained my faith in these people through thick and thin and it's a damn pity in retrospect that Holloway and the club haven't done the same. And while the odds are that Shush! will leave, my view is the club should be fighting tooth and nail to keep him. To me he's a vital cog in the ex-Academy wheel, a player who, like so many of them in their different ways, can make things happen.

You don't irritate me to be honest Thrac, although I can see why it would grind on a few others! Clapham isn't that bad in my opinion, although at this stage in the season, I'd like to see Shush! in that area, as we're desperately short of goals and don't even look like creating nearly enough chances to win a game.
Thracian Posted 1 May 2008 Posted 1 May 2008 will you be applying come monday then? It wouldn't be the first time.
MikeyT Posted 2 May 2008 Posted 2 May 2008 HendersonChambers (RB) - Need his pace and professionalism Stearman (cb)- We will sit too deep with N'Gotty and get battered. Move Stears into the middle McAuley Mattock Bell (RM) Wesolowski King - Oakley has been bland beyond belief! This kid can attack and will give us some aeriel ability in a game where the ball will spend a lot of time in the air!! Hendrie (LM) Hume Howard - yes he's been disappointing, but has a good track record in this division. If he doesn't come off we should take a gamble with young Ricky who has improved massivelky in the last coule of months and has the confidemce from scoring goals! Subs: Alnwick, N'gotty, Campbell, Sappleton, Oakley Oakley is a major doubt to play and Hendrie wont play at all due to his injury. Howard is shite but as far as experience goes we dont really have anyone else. But i would like to see Sappleton at least on the bench! http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Lates...1304554,00.html
frenzal Posted 2 May 2008 Posted 2 May 2008 Hendo Chambers Stearman Mcauley Mattock King Weso Bell Hume DJ Howard Really not sure what to go for this week what with Hendrie & Oakley out. Maybe go for Etuhu over King. No point in playing safe and going for experience though, so please no Clapham or N'Gotty. We need to win for me...so no playing people who don't offer anything going forward.
lcfc_forever Posted 3 May 2008 Posted 3 May 2008 Henderson Chambers Stearman McAuley MattockBell Wesolowski N'GottyHume Howard CampbellSubs: Hendrie/Etuhu, Oakley, Sappleton, Fryatt, Alnwick From what I've read, it's unlikely either Hendrie or Oakley will start. After N'Gotty's performance last weekend in defence, Stearman should be moved inside with Chambers at right-back. In Mattock and Chambers, we have two full backs who are comfortable attacking and will provide width. Hume in a free role would be dangerous, especially given he is easily our most skilful player with Wesolowski and N'Gotty providing the necessary protection for the defence to allow him to get forward. I would have recalled Gradel given both the seriousness of our situation and Hendrie's injury. Let's hope whatever team we play, we get the result needed to stay in the Championship.
FoxesRoyal Posted 3 May 2008 Posted 3 May 2008 Henderson Chambers, Stearman, McAuley, Clapham Bell, Weso, King, Mattock Hume, Sappleton Subs Fryatt, Campbell, Ainwick, Oakley, Worley Well there is my team. As i have heard that hendrie will not be playing as he needs a lot more time to recover which is a shame but still!
Thracian Posted 3 May 2008 Posted 3 May 2008 Hendrie is a big loss but, once again, confirms that we haven't got much mileage from yet another of our ageing loanees. Oakley's been a disappointment too and I cannot see why we'll be much worse off for his absence. We'd have been up against it anyway. Ironically Holloway could be left with a team of kids by default. Not the ideal situation, you'd really want them to have been involved way before this and in sensibly increasing cameos. However given the choice available I'd go: Henderson; Chambers, McAuley, Stearman, Mattock; Bell, Wesolwoski, King, Beswick; Hume, Campbell. Subs: N'Gotty, Fryatt, Howard, Hammond, McKay. I thought long and hard about the aerial option of Howard but believe in my heart that fast-passing at pace with low crosses into the box is our only hope of beating Stoke and I've tried to give our team of that as possible in as many places as possible.

Oakley has been poor but without those two we really have no midfield at all. As we have no spare centre backs either things are not looking good at all. team for me henderson Mattock Mccauley N'gotty or stearman Chambers or stearman ?? Kishishev Weso Bell Hume ?? subs hayles, king, dj, sappleton??, alnwick really can't decide who to pay wide left or up front.

Swap Howard for Sappleton and I'd have no objection in seeing that team on Sunday. It won't happen though will it. Beswick will be replaced by Hayles, and Campbell with Howard. Holloway has too many "favourites".
teblin Posted 3 May 2008 Posted 3 May 2008 Hendo Stearman N'gotty McAuley Clapham Bell King Weso Mattock Howard Hume Bench: Kish, Alnwick, Laczko, Campbell, Fryatt 2 reason i went with howard up front 1 he owes us a goal 2 you need him to help defend set pieces. Went with that side asuming that oakley is out too. didn't got for stearman at centre back as i wouldn't fancy him agianst fullers strength.

Beswick will be replaced by Hayles, and Campbell with Howard. Holloway has too many "favourites". If he believes Hayles can play Beswick's roll more he's mistaken and I don't think Hayles can play any other midfield role for more than half an hour or so. Campbell's a must for the approach as well because, otherwise, poor Hume will run himself to a standstill again and we cannot afford that. I did wonder about Sapp instead of Howard, particularly as he's so used to playing in the reserves with King and Beswick. A case could be made, no doubt. But I also have reservations and, in the end, if the idea of passing and moving quickly actually works then McKay would be my preferred striker substitute because he can play that way and can link up well with midfield. There's no doubting McKay's fitness. The lad runs on Duracell and is excellent at helping attacks continue. .

Hopefully Oakley's injury will give King a chance to shine, hes been far too under used this season, whilst Oakley's been nothing short of anonymous. As for McKay, I wouldn't mind seeing him on the bench, but I think you'd get pretty long odds on that happening. As I've mentioned, Holloway has certain favourites, and I doubt he'd try an (unfortunately) untested striker in such an important game, even if our strikers are about as useful as a bacon sandwich at a Jewish wedding.

Stearman or Hayles captain or ------------------Henderson --------N'gotty----McAuley-----Worley Stearman---------------------------Mattock -------Hayles-----Weso-------Bell/King ------------Hume------Fryatt To be honest i don't care what the team is as long as we win, but i think we have more chance winning without playing Howard
