davieG Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 I've stopped doing 'team for' but I thought I'd start this one off for the last game of the season We simply do not have an acceptable back up for CB, N'Gotty legs have gone, Worley just doesn't seem ready from the reserve games I've seen and Stearman hasn't played there for 2 or more years, but on balance I'd risk Stearman (sorry Kilworth but that's MY opinion ) The so called experienced guys like Oakley, Howard, Hayles and N'Gotty badly let us down in the last game so shit or bust I'd go for Henderson/Alnwick (I have no preference) Chambers McAuley Stearman Mattock Bell Weso King Hendrie (assuming he's fit and is allowed to play ) Hume Campbell Kings height will be useful in helping the defence. A mixture of youth, experience, pace and tenacity. But it's waste of time because no doubt Oakley, Howard Hayles and N'Gotty will be in there. Ollie will see that as being risk free and if they fail he can blame the 'experienced' players
STUHILL Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Team I would want....... Hendo Chambers Stearman McAuley Mattock Bell Weso Oakley Hendrie Hume Dj Would have to play great to win though! Just don't think we're strong enough in defence to not concede without Kisnorbo.

Simi Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Henderson Stearman N Gotty McAuley MattockBell Oakley Weso Hendrie?Hume Campbell I think many people are forgetting that Chambers hasn't played for us in a long while, so probably wont be match fit. Secondly, Stoke have some seriously physical forwards, I think Bruno would be much more suited at dealing with them than Stearman, especially at centre half. I think some of the Howard bashing is a little over the top, but I'd go with Campbell and Hume, the potential for goals is good and we need to trouble there defenders as much as we can.
Cheese Me Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Henderson Chambers Stearman McAuley MattockBell Wesolowski Oakley HendrieHume Hayles/Campbell I'd be pleased to see that. Is Hendrie likely to be available?
Tilley Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Hendo. Chambers Stearman McAuley Mattock Bell Weso King Hendrie Hume Campbell **** Oakley, Howard & Clapham. As davieG said, its win or bust, but I can type on here as much as I want, N'Gotty, Oakley, Howard & Clapham will all start.

Mark Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Alnwick Stearman N'Gotty McAuley Mattock Bell Wesolowski Hendrie Hayles Hume Sappleton As much as I don't rate N'Gotty, we just can't play Stearman center back against the likes of Fuller, Sidibe and Ameobi, it'd be suicidal.
Chimp Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Henderson Stearman N'Gotty McCauley Mattock Bell Weso Oakley Hendrie Campbell Hume Subs: Alnwick, Chambers, King, Sappleton, Hayles I want the team to be told who's playing a few days in advance (as happened before the Barnsley game) so that they can train as a unit and mentally prepare themselves for what they have to achieve.

Guest ttfn Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Henderson Chambers Stearman McAuley Mattock Bell Wesolowski Hendrie Laczko Hume Campbell subs: Alnwick Howard Hayles Fryatt Oakley We've got to go for it. Hence a left winger who will at least have a go at the full back. 3 strikers on the bench in case it all goes tits up. Let's get Hendrie back in the centre. fook Matt Oakley he's been bloody useless since we signed him

A mixture of youth, experience, pace and tenacity. But it's waste of time because no doubt Oakley, Howard Hayles and N'Gotty will be in there. Ollie will see that as being risk free and if they fail he can blame the 'experienced' players That's a positive shout DavieG and arguably our best chance of a winning side. My only doubt would concern Mattock. I've not been convinced by him all season and his last reserves game was woeful. Sure he's got promise but right from the start I thought he needed more experience before becoming a first team regular and nothing's hapened to change that view. Meanwhile Beswick's been used at left-back in the reserves and has still made goals. There's no doubt Hendrie needs to play and be captain if fit so given the simple choice of Beswick or Mattock at left back I'd go with the latter on current form because I believe the additional benefit of his free-kicks tip the balance for me and we definitely need a specialist free kick taker to have any sort of chance against Stoke. Bert Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 How can justify that Beswick should be playing, after not even being in the first team squad all season. He'll have no match fitness at all, which is what you say in the defence of King. At least player's such as Lee Cox, Ashley Chambers have been travelling with the squad, Bes hasn't.

Any side travelling to Stoke needs to be physically competitive and that line-up has far too many lightweights. It would be ripped to shreds at every set piece. And poor as Howard has been in recent weeks, he is still our top scorer this year. We therefore need to stick with him and Hume. My team would be: Henderson J Chambers McAuley Worley MattockBell N'Gotty Hendrie HaylesHume Howard Subs: Alnwick, Stearman, Wesolowski, A Chambers, Sappleton I expect the chosen men of Clapham, Oakley, Fryatt and Campbell will all feature though.
Joe. Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 It's blatantly going to be Holloway sticking with his chosen ones. For me it should be: Henderson Stearman McAuley N'Gotty Mattock Bell Wesolowski King Hendrie Hume Campbell

He'll have no match fitness at all, which is what you say in the defence of King. At least player's such as Lee Cox, Ashley Chambers have been travelling with the squad, Bes hasn't. Beswick looks fit enough and has done for a while. Kingy's just about back to his sharpest too. I've nothing against Cox or Chambers but they won't do the job Beswick can do. The fact that he's not been in the first team isn't my fault and, since Shush!'s departure, quite possibly explains at least one of the reasons why we've created next to nothing from the left ever since, nor done much from set plays. If the team were playing well, scoring goals and collecting sufficient points no-one would have need to consider alternatives. And if he had been in the squad when I first suggested it he'd have some valuable experience by now.
Legend_in_blue Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Any chance of Stearman at centre half? N'Gotty is a waste of space.
