Zinedine Zidane will become the new manger of QPR later today, according to a report in Sunday's newspapers.

The sensational claim dominates The People's backpage this morning, with the paper declaring: 'Rangers owner Flavio Briatore has promised a major announcement before today's final match of the season at home to West Brom - and informed whispers insist he'll name Zidane as Loftus Road boss.'

Rangers captain Gareth Ainsworth is described as 'adding to the intrigue' by inviting fans to attend the 'dawn of a new era'. "Sunday promises to be a day every QPR fan, old and young, remembers for the rest of their lives," he wrote in his programme notes.

QPR's match with the Baggies is scheduled for a 1400 BST kick-off.

:o Wow. Don't know if that's good or bad, I'm surprised though.

Or he could be a totally amazing manager! lol

We'll have to wait and see lol

But i reckon he's gonna be one of those really good players that can't be a manager, don't know why i just have a feeling. Also he never played in England so he's gonna need to get used to the English game first, so one things for sure it's gonna take time.

Sounds like the owners of QPR are just going for a big name. Surely they should have taken someone with a decent track record. I suppose there will be plenty of money for new players though.

But do track records, experience, young but abit of experience really work? Just look at some of the managers we've had in recent years, None of them have had amazing track records but some have had some success at previous clubs come to us and been shite.

Picking a manager in most case is pot luck IMO, and you have to give them time.

Seems a bit unfair on that De Canio, he has done a decent job in keeping them up comfortably. In December they were bottom, so to finish mid-table is a good achievement. Zidane is a real gamble, and one that could backfire. An advantage for Qpr is the fact Zidane could attract virtually any player he wants.

Think about the players Zidane could bring in, i bet alot of people would go to a club like Qpr if Zidane was there.

Spot on.

When QPR became the richest club in the world I said its alright being the richest team in the world but if QPR were after a player and Chelsea went in for the same player even if QPR could offer more money (In theory) i'm fairly confident that player would choose Chelsea.

Now QPR are the richest club in the world it's all about getting the names in now, getting the reputation up and that is how QPR need to work.

They have it all wrong Flavio is buying Milan out

Are we still getting Jose Mourinho as manager? Martin O'Neil is the answer to all our problems :crylaugh:

But seriously, I thought Luigi Di Canio had done a pretty good job for QPR, why do they need a new manager?

What's so good about Cerny?

No idea what Quitanta is on about there, but Cerny is the regular Spurs keeper nowadays. It would be a good signing.

Nothing (too much) mate. Just find it a bit weird that he's quite possibly got a chance to be Spurs No.1, and goes to QPR. £££££ talks I suppose.

Not anymore. Was on SSN, breaking news...off to Rangers

Hes not going to be their manager apperently. The announcement was their new badge which looks like Huddersfields.
