There are always going to be more important things though, that's like saying "I have syphilis but at least I don't have aids". People cry at films and books etc, are they pathetic too?

A book or a film, in many cases, is designed to do just that. They deliberately play on our various emotions. That is their function. My problem with John Terry crying is that I simply don't believe that he did so because he cared about that trophy to that extent, or about the feelings of the fans who paid good money to watch their side lose. I think he was feeling sorry for himself. I would have far more sympathy with a staunch supporter who shed a tear, although it isn't something I would do myself, as I just don't react in that way to a lot of things. I'm not unfeeling, I just have my own way of dealing with stuff, as do we all.

Fair enough. So would you say it's justifiable if he was truly crying because he felt he had let down the fans, manager and his team mates?

I'm actually looking forward to watching this for some bizarre reason.

This is what happens when there's no other football going on. <_<

I would say that it was more justifiable. But I still don't believe that football is worth crying about.

I love the game. I'm passionate about it. And yes, when we were relegated, I was gutted, even though I'd experienced relegation with this club on 3 previous occassions. But I didn't even come close to crying. It put a dampner on the week, but there you go, it happens. I just went out and enjoyed the company of some friends and a couple of pints.

I think we'll scrape through with a 1-0 win.

Me too, but friendlies can throw up some weird results so anythings possible, especially where englands concened.

Fair point. Don't think I would ever cry over a football match either but each to their own I suppose.

I've just turned over.... was that kelly rowland singing the USA anthem?

Yes........

........................and fvcking awful it was too!

Not helped by a sub standard PA system.

It's the first time I've seen an anthem booed because of the performance and not the anthem itself.

Pedictable England. There's no pace down the wings, no height up front which we need when we consistently play the long ball. At half time, we need Gerrard off and hopefully out of the squad forever as he is useless for England. We still need a proper left winger and at the moment, the closest thing we have is Downing. Bring Beckham off and bring Walcott on - his performances at the end of the season were fantastic and would be good to see someone run at the defence. Bring Defoe off and bring Ashton on as a target man. Why England always plays players based on reputation I'll never know. Beckham will be too old for the next world cup, and a few other players will be past their prime so do what I've thought since we knew we weren't going to the Euros - start bringing through some of the younger players and give them experience. Players like Agbonlahor, Walcott, maybe Huddlestone and maybe Wheater.

Just as I post, we score. lol.

1-0 Terry :)

At times I think we've been decent, but just not penetrative enough really. Want to see Ashton, Walcott and Agbonlahor in the second half.

Is it me... has Mark Lawrenson lost his passion for the game...?

he's always been miserable but you can't really blame him when he has to sit through so many turgid england games!

Its Motty I feel sorry for. Calling Terry Rio, he should have retired years ago like Barry Davies.

He doesn't have to do anything!

Lawro tries for the cheap laugh and fail on every occasion-he's third rate at best.
