AoWW Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 2-0 up and I'm still bored. Still, good excuse for a few drinks.
lildave3 Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 Can't for the life of me understand the point in bringing on the likes of Crouch, Cole and Bridge when he's got uncapped players like Ashton and Agbonlahor sitting there desperate for a chance. They'd better play against Trinidad.
The Stig Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 Can't for the life of me understand the point in bringing on the likes of Crouch, Cole and Bridge when he's got uncapped players like Ashton and Agbonlahor sitting there desperate for a chance. They'd better play against Trinidad. I give up with international football. No common sense anymore.
Daggers Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 I can't believe I actually turned this on for the second half - Christ this is shit.
lildave3 Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 Ha. I must be so easily pleased, i've not found this too boring at all. Not exciting, but not boring. Would rather watch this than most other things on TV anyway. At times we played some good stuff there, especially the 1 touch stuff. Not bad at all.
The Stig Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 At times we played some good stuff there, especially the 1 touch stuff. Not bad at all. I agree. I was encouraged by that, I just wished around the 70 minute mark we gave some debuts. It was an ideal time.
Noel Edmonds Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 fooking Ridiculous. He puts out a team almost identical to the one who didn't get us to euro 2008. The season is over, we have no competitve internationals this summer BUT he still puts out the same old players, and then uses the substitutions on the likes of Cole and Bridge. And why......simple, because they wont want to travel all the way to trinidad the little darlings!! Absolutely stupid.
C-man Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 Well if there was ever a game to show that Bentley is not good enough to play for England yet, that was it. Good in patches, dreadfully boring in others.
The Reverend Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 First half was very average, but i think in the second half we played some excellent stuff, and considering a lot of the players are probably very tired, it was a pretty good performance. Happy for John Terry. He needed that. It'll help him a lot.
Tomassi Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 Thought England were superb tonight, outclassed their opponents and made them look shite! Capello got it spot on tonight with the system and has drilled the right mentality into the players Also, great idea to have Gerrard on the left, and though England were even better with Barry and Hargreaves in the middle I'm starting to get really excited about England again, and for the first time since the Glenn Hoddle days i think we could mount a serious challenge on the next world cup! Also, i dont think its pointless playing established players, we only have 2 friendlies left before our world cup campaign! we need our best team to gel!
DBEightyFive Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 I thought it was a poor game. USA were poor (1 shot on target all night) and England could only beat them 2-0...thats gotta say something. And according to Motty, the team that started tonight, the same team that didn't get us to Euro 2008 will be the team to start the World Cup qualifiers...fills me with hope already not
Joe. Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 I didn't even watch this, played poker instead. When I saw his intial team selction I just thought what's the point anyway? It's absolutely ridiculous playing players like Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard etc when there's uncapped players on the bench who he needs to see more of. He knows what the experienced players can do so why play them? They've played enough together and failed enough together. Same again next week for Trinidad then in another pointless England friendly?
lildave3 Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 I'm watching England v Croatia from Euro 2004 on ESPN Classic, and it's just hit me how different this summer will be. I'm on holiday for the tournaments every year in the same place, and it's brilliant watching all the games in the bar with it packed full of english. Ah well, roll on 2010.
Bert Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Thought England were superb tonight, outclassed their opponents and made them look shite!Capello got it spot on tonight with the system and has drilled the right mentality into the players Also, great idea to have Gerrard on the left, and though England were even better with Barry and Hargreaves in the middle I'm starting to get really excited about England again, and for the first time since the Glenn Hoddle days i think we could mount a serious challenge on the next world cup! Also, i dont think its pointless playing established players, we only have 2 friendlies left before our world cup campaign! we need our best team to gel! It wasn't that good! The second goals was a good move though. fook England.Where's the Ched Evans thread? Fook Wales too then.
Finnegan Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 This time I'm serious, Ched Evans will be a better player than Dean Ashton ever will!
lildave3 Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 This time I'm serious, Ched Evans will be a better player than Dean Ashton ever will! I knew as soon as Motson said Ched Evans has scored that you'd be all over him tonight!
Finnegan Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 I knew as soon as Motson said Ched Evans has scored that you'd be all over him tonight! Seriously. Move over Christiano Ronaldo, move over Thierry Henry. The Chev Evans back-heel is where it's at. Yes, yes, isn't it a funny language, blah blah blah. Just wank over the goal, already.
Finnegan Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 I just got home ... what did I miss? A Ched Evans wonder goal.
Jordan Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Awesome. That finish makes Nate Jacqua look like, well, Nate Jacqua.
ozleicester Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Team NewsJames, Brown, Ferdinand, Terry, A Cole, Hargreaves, Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, Rooney, Defoe. "Ah feel good"..... da da dadada.. "Ah knew that ah would now"
purpleronnie Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Can't understand why the US picked such a poorside, I hguess the likes of landon donovan will be saved for more important games.
Darkzzz_ Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 I didn't watch the game either.... I want to say well done to John Terry though,it is well know that i am not his biggest fan, i am not going into that again, but from the highlights and the interview i seen, it shows the real man behind the mask (which he sometimes wears) I wont bother with these type of matches, it is getting the results when they matter, I think Capello is the man for us though!
