ibbosuk Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Newell, Penney, Lambert, John Collins or Simon Grayson, if we could get him.But I have reservations and i'll tell you why. All the above have only managed small clubs and although we are a mess, we are a big club with a large fan base that has high expectations. We've seen these sorts of managers do extremely well at small clubs or clubs that are in good shape, but can they cut it at a club in turmoil that's just dropped down to the lowest position it's ever been in? I'm not so sure, therefore we need a manager who has experience in taking on a job like this and suceeding and Joe Royle did that at Man City. The problem is, I want stability here in the long term and Royle wouldn't be here for too long as he's said himself if he comes back to football it's for a season or two. So perhaps he could come in alongside a younger manager? Or we sack the Royle idea and risk an up and coming manager to have the ability to get a club in our state promoted hopefully twice in quick succession. Forget stability...We are LCFC....you can expect 8 or more new player regardless if RATBOY stays or goes.. ....BUT WE NEED INSTABILITY ASAP!!!!!!!...
The People's Hero Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Instability is what we do. Even under MON, every 5 minutes he was leaving to go elsewhere, we were begging him to stay - then there was the GO4 etc etc etc. We crave instability. I hope something ridiculous happens soon, like it turns out we miss the deadline to enter league one and have to start from the bottom. Or Milan loses the keys to the stadium. Or something,.
RowlattsFox Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Steve Coppell? If he resigns at Reading, they have called a press conference for half 2 by the way.
teblin Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 (The Guru Says)....Ah Yes........The mighty Glaswegian atom.. Think Davies is a good manager would be a good choice, but he could start an arguement in an empty room!
The People's Hero Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Steve Coppell? If he resigns at Reading, they have called a press conference for half 2 by the way. Why would he do that? League One? Milan Mandaric? We need to lower our collective expectations a bit.

I did think that but he might be after one last challenge, I don't see him getting a job higher than the Championship. I agree its a longshot but I reckon it'd be worth an enquiry.
Babylon Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Martin Allen would be good, i know we wouldnt of been relegated with him How do you know that?
Fox You Forest Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 How do you know that? He has Mystic Meg on speed dial.

Surely most managers that are unsullied by too much failure are either going to have had little managerial experince at any level e.g Coleman, Keene or will have earned their chance by having some degree of success at smaller clubs e.g Little, O'Neil. Considering every managerial appointment is a risk I think a lot more notice should be taken of their personal traits, methodolgies and ambitions. Can they manage individuals including, potentially established successful players as well as youngsters Can they create a team ethic, never say die,all for one and one for all attitude Can they spot talent or do they know someone who can Can they deal with loony chairmen Are they tactically aware/astute Are they ambitious - even to the extent that we might eventually lose them. These are the sort of things we need in a manager and from what I can see has been sadly lacking. I'd sooner take a risk on an experienced, successful lower league manager than any other type in our current situation.

davieG Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 There's not many managers at our level that could do allthat let alone half of it!!! I think there's enough of them, today's apprentices are tomorrows winners, the difficulty is finding them!
Dr The Singh Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 I think there's enough of them, today's apprentices are tomorrows winners, the difficulty is finding them! Any names, davieG!!!
davieG Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Any names, davieG!!! Yes but they don't come free! I've offered my services to Loony Tunes I hear he pays his agents well

INstability!!...Anything is better than yet another year of dross at bottom end of the championship with More fukin excuses of lack of confidence and (DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING WE NEED STABILITY !!!!!!... FFS THIS FROM A **** OF A MANAGER WHO HAD HE PRODUCED EVEN MODERATE RESULTS WOULD OF KEPT HIS JOB!!.....which he won't).. So anyway this is a new adventure, like a season full of cup games....Thats how I'm looking at it anyway. If MM keeps picking the managers we will continue to struggle.. GO f... SACK YOURSELF MM!!!
l444ry Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 A new dark horse can be considered now that Paul Lambert has resigned at Wycombe.
BigGibbo Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 A new dark horse can be considered now that Paul Lambert has resigned at Wycombe. I could live with that to be fair if its all finalised before the end of june, but I'd rather stick with ollie if its gonna end up taking 'til August to get him or someone else in.
Simi Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 A new dark horse can be considered now that Paul Lambert has resigned at Wycombe. That is someone that I wouldn't mind, mentioned him the other day. Now that he's resigned it seems a more visable option. However, I'm not so sure if Milan would want to gamble on a young manager again. But, I hope he's still open minded about it, because I still feel that would be the right way to go for us. I'd like to see a young manager that can bring in new ideas and hopefully blend a lot better with the players, something I don't think our past managers have done all that well. It's all unclear at the moment, Holloway may even stay. I'm at a loss to predict Mandaric though.
Shrenchel Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 I'd be happy enough with Paul Lambert. Done pretty well with Wycombe. No pay-off needed. Seems to play a defensive game though. They only scored 56 this season and the next team with a tally as low as that was Brentford in 15th.
Ultra Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Lambert resigned for family reasons. He's looking for a move back to Scotland. McAllister or O'Driscoll might be worth an enquiry, depending on how the playoff final goes.
l444ry Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Lambert resigned for family reasons. He's looking for a move back to Scotland.McAllister or O'Driscoll might be worth an enquiry, depending on how the playoff final goes. He claimed earlier this week that it had nothing to do with family reasons. More likely that he wanted to make himself available for his next move after taking Wycombe as far as he thought he could after 2 seasons. Didn't Dowie cite family reasons for quitting Palace before pitching up a few miles away at Charlton? Whatever, at least the names now being mentioned make a refreshing change from the usual suspects.
RowlattsFox Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 What's Phil Parkinson doing nowadays? Did well with Colchester in this league.
