Joe. Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 I think it was to be expected really. It's the state of modern football these days- prices will always be going up from now on until they become even more ridiculous.
GLC Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 rip off! were payibg for his new holiday home then!! they will put up food prices next at the walkers! there like the f**king government
BigGibbo Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 rip off!were payibg for his new holiday home then!! they will put up food prices next at the walkers! there like the f**king government I think more than £3.50 for a pint or a burger would be an actual criminal offence rather than just daylight robbery as it is now.
lildave3 Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Can't believe they've actually put them up. I was sure of a freeze once we went down.
Flynny Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 In what way is this a rise? There's always an early bird deadline, is there not? I could well be talking out of my arse here but I thought this was business as usual.
Webbo Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 The club still has serious debt regardless of relegation, and we'll all moan if the club don't spend any money in the summer. It was inevitable really.

Dames Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 We'll be lucky to break 12k on average next season. They have taken the piss majorly here.
ASH17LCFC Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Aldridge is a willy puller, i was thinking maybe i will get another season ticket after all but they can well and truely shove it now. Away matches and the cheap homes game for me now.
Leicester Lass Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Not sure what everyone was expecting tbh? And there's still plenty of time to get Early Bird prices - if you don't do it then you only have yourself to blame for having to pay more!

There's always an early bird deadline, is there not?I could well be talking out of my arse here but I thought this was business as usual. Thats how it seems. The Leic Merc have basically ran a full page ad for season ticket sales inc number and email. The 'story' is to frighten people into buying a ticket.

If it was only that easy. What about the many fans inc myself who do not want to buy yet as it will endorse the currant structure at the club.
Free Falling Foxes Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Let's suppose: Most ST holders get it before the deadline. A further 4000 get one after. £30rise x 4000 = £120 000. That'll get us a quality striker!! Pay-off a few months of Holloways contract. Cover the 1st teams squad wage bill for a month. Save MM dipping into 1% of his personal fortune. Get the changing room showers at the Walkers re-tiled (Inc 10% Topps Tile discount) Get the Johnsons paint trophy merchandise/logo embroiding on shirts underway. ETC ETC It makes perfect sense assuming more wouldn't have been sold IF prices hadn't gone up in the first place!

The 'story' is to frighten people into buying a ticket. I completely agree. There are two conflicting arguments going on in the article here - either made by Aldridge, Mandaric, both or whatever. The first of those is to quote that current sales are "encouraging" but then state later on in the article that basically Milan will put his money in, if we do. Suggesting that at present, he is unsure as to whether he should. But then you just said sales were "encouraging", so surely you should be sending us a more encouraging message? Work that one out. At the moment, quite frankly, I wouldn't trust a word Mandaric says. He is beginnning to get on my nerves.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 I'm actually paying £36 less than I did last year. I still haven't really worked out why. Mine was £358 last year but it's £322 this year in exactly the same place.
Shrenchel Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 A West Ham mate told me that season ticket prices went up by about £600 in the ten years Aldrige was there. Hmmmm
bigjonnyauk Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 if you think about it those fans who have bought the early bird ticket are not that much better off if they did the monthly dd works out to 24 quid extra i think and new prices from june 1st only 30 quid more so if you saved yourself for a couple of months u wont be that much worse off anyone how much leeds charged last season i can see those days down filbo of 10000 -13000 there and this was in div 1

Legend_in_blue Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 I'm annoyed because although I desperately want to renew my ticket, doing so would, in part, support the current management/behind the scenes structure of the club, which I do not agree with. Bullying tactics are in play here - pay up by May 31 or pay more and then I'll wait until I see how much "loyalty" I've got, before I tell you all how much I'm putting in. As if 32 000 on the final day of the season was not loyalty enough. Disgrace.
Maybes Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 I love it how they know say on the website site "save up to £200"......this is more like £100 after they have to sell tickets on the cheap next year . I can see myself getting very pissed of with price reductions next season after having bought a season ticket.

I can see myself getting very pissed of with price reductions next season after having bought a season ticket. And those price reductions are likely to increase in number next season. And when you've forked out £500 for your ticket (not including the 10% of course) its hard to stomach.
Legend_in_blue Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Having mulled over today's news I reckon this is a delibrate tactic by MM to measure season ticket sales over the next week, leading into the deadline the following week. Bullying and scare tactics might work on some - then he'll review it. A final push on ST sales may well coincide with a 'premature announcement' regarding the future of IH, say next Wednesday? A week early? Quite plausible that one. He's making his decisions based on the way in which the fans react. We've had the IH polls, now the scare tactics, what next? A great way to run a business. Congratulations.
Thracian Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 It's a disgrace. The sooner the Unholy Trinity of Mandaric, Holloway and Aldridge disappear the better. None of them are "Leicester City". They just seem self-serving as far as I can see. To increase ticket prices when offering a poorer grade of football is indefensible even if Mandaric is facing a heavy bill for HIS mistakes. They are not OUR mistakes! The fans have turned out in droves especially considering the shit they've been offered in the name of football, and not just for one season either. Their support in trying circumstances has been outstanding. With player wages likely to reduce dramatically due to lower grade football, the shedding of some high-salary players, a smaller squad, reduced stewarding/policing costs I don't see why the risk needs to be taken of charging more money for fewer fans to watch, nor the justificatiuonfor iut. But then I rarely understand any of our senior management decisions.

Aldridge and Mandaric believe that every supporter who went last season will go no matter what, doesn't matter about what division we are in, the standard of football etc. They are going to be in for a very nasty shock next month, if this attitude continues. Some fans, quite rightly, have had enough. They are fed up of being taken for mugs by the hierachy of this football club, and have said "no more". I don't want to sit in a half-full stadium next season, but I fear that I will, and the club have effectively shot themselves in the foot over this issue. Quite interesting that they won't say how many season-tickets have been sold. For a club that hypes anything up, this is surprising
