Ultra Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 I've said what I think about Aldridge in the anti-Mandaric thread but I just don't understand the club's thinking on the tickets. Bradford did a cheap season ticket scheme and filled the ground, Huddersfield will probably do the same. Bradford had a sponsorship deal with their local paper which allowed them to sell season tickets on the cheap. It may be worth asking why City doesn't have the same deal with our local tabloid..
Matt Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Port Vale did a good scheme. They wanted 5000 supporters (Atleast) to sign up and commit to a ST, IF they got the 5000 they wanted they would freeze ST, if they didn't get 5000 they would be forced to raise the prices. It would be different fan bases I know, No disrespect to Port Vale but we would piss 5000 no doubt, but would have been good if we could do a same thing on perhaps a slightly larger scale or something.
Raj Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 I'm actually paying £36 less than I did last year. I still haven't really worked out why. Mine was £358 last year but it's £322 this year in exactly the same place. Is it cos you didnt have an ST the year before? Now you are renewing your ST before the deadline hence the early bird discount. I'm upset that they have increased it as its not in any way an incentive for non ST holders to actually pay 3-400 squid to show loyalty and watch LG1 football week in week out when they havent done so previously. I know that if i wasnt a current ST holder id be thinking why the fcuk would i wanna pay MORE money to watch shit football in a shitter league. However,IF we get off to a decent start in the League perhaps a few more people may appear more regular. Better to be winning in a lower league than strugging(Like the past 4 years!) in the CChip!!! (Im sure Derby will be glad to win a game or two in CChip than get pummeled week in week out in the Prem!)
Isopen Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Quite interesting that they won't say how many season-tickets have been sold. For a club that hypes anything up, this is surprising Whisper is less than 1,000 so far.....
Ultra Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 Not too surprising. Will probably be around 3000 by the end of next week.
Bert Posted 20 May 2008 Author Posted 20 May 2008 But you'd be getting it at the cheaper price then, so surly thats a good thing. As for a 4 quid admin charge, It's easy to say if you've got the money i'm sure but 4 quid...its not going to break the bank is it? No point doing the early bird if thats the case though. Certainly for how much i would save if i went this way anyway.
renards Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 No interest as such is being charged, but the club is imposing an "admin fee" of £4/month until the balance is paid off.It amounts to pretty much the same thing. If folk didn't bother with STs last season they're hardly likely to lay siege to the ticket office in an effort to buy one now. Still, I guess the money to pay off the latest failed manager and his "coaching" team has to come from somewhere.. When they make that public the ticket office will flat out
renards Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 With risk of people coming down on me like a brick wall, I have to say this.Unfair perhaps, and I know people don't have the money/can't get the money till next month but there is a finance deal (With no intrest to pay ) so why are people moaning? I don't see the reason or why they deserve a price rise but you either buy now or pay more later. Simple. I also feel this is sticking two fingers up to all those "Not getting a season ticket because Holloway is still here" - Whether he goes on the 1st or 2nd week of June or not those people will either not bothering getting a season ticket anyway or they will have to pay more.I have already got my Season Ticket for next season so tbh i'm really not bothered. I'm one of those waiting, only way I get to 'vote' on Holloway going. I was prepared to pay extra if my holding back contributed to the clown going, putting the price up though is taking the piss. May now just wait for the offers. (Not a fair weather supporter ST for 30 + years)
davieG Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 Club Clarify Season Ticket Pricing Structure Posted on: Wed 21 May 2008 Leicester City have today clarified that the prices of their season tickets for the 2008-09 campaign are in line with that of the previous season. Feedback to the club has suggested that supporters had been led to believe that a price rise had been put into place for the upcoming League One campaign. But the Foxes were today able to confirm that was not the case. A City spokesman said: "It is correct that our discounted Early Bird price will come to an end on May 31 - but at this point prices will fall into line with what they were last season. "We have tried to make our pricing structure easier for supporters to understand this year - and also placed a big incentive on fans securing their seats ahead of the deadline - as of previous seasons. Everyone who purchases their tickets ahead of the deadline will receive the discounted rate. Following May 31 the prices will increase by 10%. "We announced a price freeze and that is what supporters have got. Ahead of the deadline all of our prices are as they were during the discount period last season. This also applies following the deadline." The savings available on season tickets purchased prior to May 31 are substantial, over £200 in some cases. But from June 1 the Early Bird prices, which provide adult season tickets from just £12 per game, will rise to just over £13 per game while adult prices for the South Stand and the Marks Electrical Family Stand are frozen at £322 until May 31, rising to £354 from after then. Meanwhile, new family season ticket discounts and easy payment plans, designed to help spread the cost of a season ticket, have also been introduced for next term. The club will also continue to offer FREE season tickets for the Under-8s in the Marks Electrical Family Stand. Adult season tickets are currently available from £275 in some parts of the stadium.
The People's Hero Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 Don't you fickle lot realise that the club can't win. They need funds to get up at the first attempt. If they lowered of kept the prices the same and didn't spend money on playing staff again the fans would be up in arms.

The People's Hero Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 Tickets prices tend to be commensurate with ambition. Obviously you can't legislate for the manager being an idiot and spending it on sh it.

If we cannot slag off the club for everything it does, be it good, bad or indifferent, how on earth are we supposed to feel important?
RedHux Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 Face facts chaps, Football's probably the only industry that can openly serve up considerably worse product, charge more and still get people buying it. We do because we love our clubs. We've (forest)been paying premiership prices to watch L1 shite for years now and still we get an average gate of near on 20000 and the football at times has been worse then sunday league and I reckon you lot'll do the same and turn up week in week out. The bit from the original link that caught my eye was "This will then allow Milan the opportunity to review what level of commitment he wishes to make..." is it me or does that imply that unless you lot happily stump up the cash MM will not bother stumping up much of his?
Corky Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 I will refrain from posting my next opinion, as the Foxes Trust haven't told me what to say yet.
leicester1884 Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 But when you didn't bother with a season ticket last year, You knew or should have expected and knew that you would have to pay more, potentially alot more, when you drop out of buying a season ticket you lose your 3 season priority/honour/loyalty bonus (Whatever you want to call it) fair enough the prices are being raised anyway but in your circumstance you should have expected a price raise anyway. Its like I said in a shirt thread last week, I slag the club off myself and I see people's points on this subject but there are some things the club just can't win on, and on this subject I can see both points. I was expecting to pay more but didn't expect us to be playing in division 3. Think the prices should of been completely frozen with the Johnstone's Paint tickets thrown in as well.

Well we can't even be sure he's stumped up anything yet, is it his money or loans
Neil_LCFC Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 If it works out £12 a game before the early bird & just over £13 after surely they have to reduce the walk up prices ? Who is going to want to just turn up saturday for league 1 football & pay a minimum of £23 ? There will be about 8000 ST holders 500 away fans & hardly any casual pay on the gate fans. Prices should be £20 maximum on the gate anymore & crowds will be seriously affected. Not everyone can make every game so a season ticket isn't viable but paying £10 more than the person sat next to you in a half empty stadium to watch Hereford isn't very appealing it smacks of being ripped off.

Haven't they already used 'how much you save on match day tickets' as reason for getting a ST, doesn't sound like a cue for reducing match day prices; but with LCFC's undoubted logic anything could still happen.
Tommy G Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 It's business Im afraid. LCFC's costs will go up this year without a shadow of a doubt, they have to fund it someone. It's completely wrong, but it's life.
