Thracian Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 Thracian has a girlfriend who posts on here? Blimey. Does Mrs Thrac know? :D I'm sure if I had time to enjoy the pleasures of a clandestine girlfriend my good lady would graciously tell her not to be so silly and that she had no idea what she was letting herself in for.
lildave3 Posted 21 August 2008 Posted 21 August 2008 This Dion lookey likey probably is Dion himself.
Thracian Posted 21 August 2008 Posted 21 August 2008 I'm sure I saw Richie Norman at a recent Jan Molby do. Now Richie really could play left-back. knowitall Posted 21 August 2008 Author Posted 21 August 2008 Okay the guy who from a 100 yards away looked abit like Dion Dublin. Came into my office today to say hi. It was Brian Deane. Don't worry!!!!!!!!!!!! he has asked Leicester if he could take his coaching badges with them and they made him train with the first team! However if you ask me I would rather have him now than DJ Campbell. Yes oh yes lastest signing. The player is older than me CHRIS POWELL. It will be official before Tranmere game. Maybe tomorrow.

teblin Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008 As rick said yesterday, if he marked Max and impressed in training, he should be fine as back up.
dandannieldanok Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008 As rick said yesterday, if he marked Max and impressed in training, he should be fine as back up. Hardly a game situation though, Powell was probably trying his hardest whereas Gradel wasn't putting in 100% (and before anyone says Pearson wouldn't stand for not 100% effort, it would be almost impossible to satay fit if a player went into training with the same intensity every day as a game).
Ric Flair Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008 Hardly a game situation though, Powell was probably trying his hardest whereas Gradel wasn't putting in 100% (and before anyone says Pearson wouldn't stand for not 100% effort, it would be almost impossible to satay fit if a player went into training with the same intensity every day as a game). I know what you are saying, but my original point was that just because Powell was on trial didn't mean he was nailed on to sign. He'd have to impress Pearson and to do that, he'd have to keep his wits about him if he came up against Max. Now it appears he's signed or about to sign so whatever has happened, it appears Pearson is impressed for some reason. I'm struggling to understand why we'd want him, but i'm neither going to get irate or upset if he does sign. I'll see how he does, but I understand why fans would be disturbed by this signing. We've seen enough of these in the past not work out and the lack of full backs has been a problem all summer for us. We only own one full back and he's injured and strongly rumoured to be leaving anyway. That's a bad situation to be in and Pearson has been here long enough to have rectified that by now. Chambers hasn't been replaced nor has a long term competitor for the left back position. This should be a focus for Pearson, I hope he sorts it.
Manwell Pablo Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008 .......Chris Powell. How old is he now 56? Quality.
brookfox Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008 With Mattock as the first choice it was always going to be hard to get cover in for him. No Prem club would loan us a youngster, an up and coming lower league player wouldn't want to play second fiddle to an 18 y/o and older players will want to be playing football. Given these circumstances, I think Powell will provide adequate cover and will hopefully be able to pass on a tip or two to Joe.
