I feel sorrow for his family - living with an alcoholic is a real bitch. The man is ill and needs treatment but everyone in society just enable his behaviour - like with Best, there'll always be a **** who'll buy him a pint.

Thats very true.

My Dad was an Alcky when i was a kid, hence i refrained from Alcohol as best i could.

However in Gazzas' case, perhaps the LACK of family support has been his downfall too?

I dont know if Jimmy 5 Bellies and his old man would be ideal candidatese to support an alcoholic?

I know he was divorced but dont know about the rest of his family etc..

And his daughter?

Well im sure she'll be in The Sun soon...

'Bianca reveals all about her Dads drink problem...erm...whilst showing off her fake tits to get a slot on some shite 'Celebrity' show with Calum Best!"

This is what happens when you're friends with Danny Baker.

In all seriousness though, how many actual real friends would someone like Gazza have? Because of the way he's always been portrayed, there's probably no shortage of people buying him a drink and hoping he puts on his comedy breasts again, but rather fewer interested in him as an actual person.

I'm sure if you're a footballer the money's great, but I don't think I'd like to be surrounded by c**** the whole time, which a lot of them seem to be

'Agitated' Gascoigne is sectioned

Former England footballer Paul Gascoigne has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

Hertfordshire Police confirmed he was taken to hospital on Sunday following reports that he was acting strangely in Hemel Hempstead.

A police spokesman said he approached a member of the public and appeared to be unwell and in an agitated state.

He was previously detained under the Mental Health Act in February following an incident at a Tyneside hotel.

A Hertfordshire Police spokesman said: "Police were called just after 12.30pm on Sunday following a report that a 42-year-old man had approached a member of the public who was unknown to him, appearing unwell and in an agitated state.

"Officers arrived and accompanied the man to hospital so he could be checked over. He was sectioned under the Mental Health Act."

Highs and lows

The ex-midfielder, who has battled with alcohol and health problems, was treated at Middleton St George Hospital in Darlington for two weeks following the hotel incident.

In January 2005, Gascoigne, nicknamed Gazza during his football career, was hospitalised with pneumonia and last year he underwent emergency surgery for a perforated stomach ulcer after being taken ill while he was celebrating his 40th birthday.

And in the same year he was arrested for an alleged assault on a photographer outside a Liverpool city centre hotel. The charges were later dropped.

A former player with Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Lazio, Glasgow Rangers and Middlesbrough, Gascoigne was sacked after 39 days as manager of Kettering Town in 2005.

During his football career he was capped 57 times for England.

I feel sorry for Daggers (Disco Bob) because he reads the Mail. Maybe he will be next to be sectioned.

Do I hell.

It was my search engine.

I am currently seeking a divorce from my laptop.

Gascgoine doesn't warrant sympathy anymore. What a waste.

Just out of interest, how come?

Don't deny your inner tory, embrace the dark side.

I think the fact that he'd chosen to go to Hemel Hempstead of his own volition makes him a troubled man.

I was winding up for something along those lines as soon as I read the unintentionally-hilarious description of him "acting strangely in Hemel Hempstead", which I took to mean "acting normally, but he was in Hemel Hempstead and all things are relative".

:D

I can't say I've ever been to Hemel Hempstead, so perhaps I'm being unduly hard on the Hemmlers, or what ever they call themselves. It strikes me as the sort of town that has a leisure centre with a water flume. My money's on Gazza acting strangely in a water flume. Fully clothed, of course.

It's no Berkhamsted, that's for sure.

I've always thought that when I do go completely mental and got sectioned, I'd like to have it happen in Cockermouth, receiving an imaginary blowjob from an imaginary prostitiute in a very real town centre at 4.30pm (outside Boots).

I don't think you'd lose it in Cockermouth. It's very relaxing.

I saw a red squirrel AND went on a brewery tour when I was there. That would pull anyone back from the brink

Right, forget my ill-fated trip to Teignmouth/Tiverton/Tavistock/whichever T in Devon in was, we're going to Cockermouth.

Me and Bellend McChoplin are gonna find us a lighthouse to live in, we'll keep labradiiii. Oh and move the lighthouse inland to Cockermouth town centre. We'll be the talk of the town (and the greater lighthouse dwelling community).
