SussexFox Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 At the risk of sounding a bit unpopular are most Leicester fans being unrealistic about the new manager, we are a League 1 club now! All i've seen is people moaning; we don't want Gregory, we don't want Pearson, we don't want Worthington its just stupid. The fans didn't want Warnock and look what he's done at Palace. The fans didn't want Worthington to stay and after he went we got relegated. If people think the likes of Allardyce, McClaren even Ince would come to us they are on cloud cuckoo land quite frankly, Allardyce and McClaren in particular are far too big for League 1
Finchy Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 No but we do have a chance of getting Larry or Steve Clarke and i just think they are much better options. Although on the other hand, i just get the feeling it's irrelevant who we get, we'll still do badly because that's the way the club is at the moment.

Mickey O'Neil Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Are we a tad unrealistic?? We're f ucking miles unrealistic. As I said before, we're a bit of dog shit on the shoes of some of those who have been mentioned for the job(Allardice, Maclaren). We ARE a fu cking 3rd division club now whether we like it or not, and some people still seem to be forgetting this. Saying all that, the only person I do not want in charge, is Pearson. I just think he's too soft (I can't prove it, just my opinion like). I don't think hoping for Wortho is being unrealistic though.
davieG Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 I don't think any of these are unrealistic Steve Tilson - had promotions from this league and managed in the Championship with minimal resources Dave Penney - been successful at Doncaster & Darlington in the mode of Brian Little Sean O'Driscoll - currently enjoying success at Doncaster John Ward - Experienced having been assistant to Graham Taylor, Josef Venglos, Dave Jones he got Cheltenham promoted and currently having some success at Carlisle. Jim Gannon - Stockport has a similar record to Ince.

Oh, and can people stop comparing fans not wanting Warnock and Gregory? The reason a lot fans didn't want Warnock is because of his attitude/personality etc, the reason a lot of fans don't want Gregory is because he's not a good manager. That's how I view it anyway.

We fit the bill perfectly, Holloway has made the last managers job easy, Bernie would look good after him. WE ARE the biggest lower division club (could argue Leeds)? perfect Job for somebody on the way up or wanting to get back up, its just that our chairmans a nutter!

renards Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 John Ward - Experienced having been assistant to Graham Taylor, Josef Venglos, Dave Jones he got Cheltenham promoted and currently having some success at Carlisle. Spoke a very good game when interveiwed at the end of the season, did think at the time why can't we have somebody like that instead of our clown

Guest Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 We are Leicester City fans.... being unrealistic is a pre-requisite ain't it?

Doesn't matter how good a manager is - got to stick by your guns
Katy Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Bollocks to that! It's not unrealistic to not want that shyster Gregory at the club, Worthington, etc = fine. To compare Warnock to Gregory is laughable as well, whether we like Warnock or not is irrelevant, he has a proven track record of being a slightly better manager than Gregory

Can't remember but think they might have been. And they had Al Fayed as owner and he's a bit crackers. You never know someone might like the Mandy challenge.
l444ry Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 There are plenty of good managers around who would jump at the chance of running Leicester City.........but without Mandaric. There's your problem, pure and simple. My God, if Nigel (Mr. Joe average) Worthington comes back that says all you need to know about him and Mandaric. Pathetic.
Father Ted Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Exactly. Agree with you 110% on that And all that Warnock crap, do you all remember when he was so anti-us when we went into administration?
davieG Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Personally I don't think Worthington has done any worse than any of them as a managerStve McClaren is too big for Leicester wake up I wasn't comparing them with Worthington with respect to being better or worse, I was responding to your thread title about us being unrealistic - all these people have been touted on here at one time or another so I don't believe, in general the majority of us are being unrealistic. What is unrealistic is to believe that Gregory has a winning mentality. But our problem is not our league situation it's Mandaric.
lookwhaticando Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Stve McClaren is too big for Leicester wake up So big he still hasn't really managed to attract much serious interest from anyone?
Raj Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 I'd settle for a youngish up and coming manager who has something to prove rather than one who is on the road to retirement. we need someone who can kick some arse. We need........Jean Tigana!!!!!
SussexFox Posted 18 June 2008 Author Posted 18 June 2008 So big he still hasn't really managed to attract much serious interest from anyone? Well other than FC Twente a Champions League club next season - slightly higher than us in the European standings
