Staf Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Definetly a gamble and really am not sure whether this will work. I keep thinking that we shouldnt of got him however apart from Billy Davies and Paul Ince i think the managers being linked were as good as Holloway if not worse. Overall i think this is a big gamble but if it works then well done Milan but if it doesent work then we all know what will happen however i am fully behind him. Nigel Pearson's blue and white army
Daggers Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 What a complete gamble. Have to say I'm not sure I would have renewed my season ticket if I had known Pearson was to be our manager. Me too. Why oh why oh why did we not get Wenger in? I bet Mandaric didn't even speak to him - he'd have taken the job for sure because we are a massive club.
sdb Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 I really don't know where comments like this come from. He has barely even got a track record for people to look at as a manager. So how do you form that opinion? if he's barely got a track record at 44 then he can't be that good can he?! southampton were crap with him; they only stayed up because they somehow beat us at their place (we were awful and still better than them), attendances were low even for big games when he was there, he looked to me like he had no idea of what was happening, the players didn't seem to have any respect for him (again this is my opinion - but i remember them scoring in 1 game and celebrating with almost everyone on the bench apart from Pearson). He had a decent squad there and scraped only a handful of points together - if Fryatt had scored his sitter at Saint Mary's they'd have gone down. They were awful with him.

Cheese Me Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 What a complete gamble. Have to say I'm not sure I would have renewed my season ticket if I had known Pearson was to be our manager. All I can say is I hope he has learnt from his mistakes which have been several. His limited managerial experience has been hallmarked by abject mediocrity and failure. His time at carlisle was awful. He only kept southampton up largely because we were worse. Even more worrying he spent two years as assistant manager to Bryan Robson probably the worst manager in the world. At newcastle the defence was a complete shambles and he doesn't really carry an degree of gravitas in the game which may be the difference between players coming/staying and going elsewhere/leaving. As usual with city it is a case of hoping for the best. What chance he will be gone by christmas? Like what? Pearson may not have loads of experience but he's never failed anywhere either. I challenge you to name one managerial mistake he's made
Mighty Muzzy Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 We are in league one, we have a bunch of moany arse fans and a nut job of a chairman.... what did you expect. I agree. We are NOT Premier Leageu, sadly. Let's get behind old Nige and give him a chance .
Raj Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 I find it amusing that some people actually thought that we would be able to attract a REALLY high quality, proven well respected manager to our third tier joke of a club. No matter who the manager was, there would always be question marks about his calibre etc. Lets just see what happens. I mean as City fans its not like we wont be patient if he loses his first 6-7 games on the spin!!!
MikeyT Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Cant believe people are moaning already! FFS give the guy a chance. I really hope he does well for obvious reasons, but also so that all the doubters will shut their mouths. Give the guy a chance. He's been here 7 hours for god's sake!! Gees! People want instant success. Well the world doest always work that way. He could be brilliant or yes he could be crap, but moaning 7 hours after he's been appointed just goes to show how moronic some Leicester fans really are!

Ultra Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 What a complete gamble. Have to say I'm not sure I would have renewed my season ticket if I had known Pearson was to be our manager. All I can say is I hope he has learnt from his mistakes which have been several. His limited managerial experience has been hallmarked by abject mediocrity and failure. His time at carlisle was awful. It wasn't his team, though, and he had to deal with a chairman even more deranged than Mandaric. He only kept southampton up largely because we were worse. Even more worrying he spent two years as assistant manager to Bryan Robson probably the worst manager in the world. You got BSE or something? I can think of at least two City managers of the recent past who have plumbed far lower depths than Robbo - the initials IH and PT may help to remind you. At newcastle the defence was a complete shambles True, but Roeder and Allardyce signed the players, not him. ..and he doesn't really carry an degree of gravitas in the game which may be the difference between players coming/staying and going elsewhere/leaving. So why did so many managers/clubs want to hire him? In any case as long as players (and their agents) are happy with the terms and conditions at this club, they will sign - the experience of the past year shows that. As usual with city it is a case of hoping for the best. What chance he will be gone by christmas? I know managers have knifed us so often in recent times, but Pearson hasn't been one of them. Tearing him to shreds, a full SEVEN weeks before his side will kick a ball in anger, will serve absolutely no purpose whatsoever. Give the bloke a break FFS!
Father Ted Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Respect Hey What's the latest from the Walkers then?
Matt Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 After reading Saints fans views on their forum I'm slightly more optimistic, very rarely do we get a manager with so much praise coming from his former club. No more ridiculous 3 year contracts though Milan, let him earn it. Not much more to add really. I was worried, very worried when we were first linked and when this really start speeding up I felt sick, then I read some comments and it reassured me abit, I'm not over the moon, It's not an exciting appointment, and my first reaction to Pearson was - Boring, but again after reading some view from Southampton fans I feel different about him. As you say though - Does Milan not learn? 3 years? Why? If he/or any of the other manager past or in the future really think there right for this job, have something to prove, give them a 1 year contract which will lead to a longer contract should the impress. If they want the job they'll accept, If they say no I want longer - Fuk em'
Legend_in_blue Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 I think to offer any sort of negativity with regards to his appointment at this time is a down right disgrace. The bloke has been here less than 8 hours and already people are having a pop at his managerial skills. You haven't even seen him manage yet (1) at our club (2) in our circumstances and (3) with our set of players. Get off his back and let's see what he can do. But like the media said, he got us relegated last season, his win took us down - yeah right, what a load of old rubbish. Any of you lot who want to call him this and that, whatever, yeah go on, you do that, you're about as bad with the media. The more of you the merrier. It's not as if our club needs any more negative vibes surrounding it. Oh no. I for one am intending to get behind the man. The moaning needs to stop now.

Exactly, Well said, He did effectivly send us down, However he won to send us down...He won! At the end of the day if we won we'd have stayed up, we didn't, we sent ourselves down, and if he can get wins, no matter how we play (To start with and within reason) I don't care.
lilsmig Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 could at least give him a chance he cant do any more damage.. holloways already done as much as possble
Legend_in_blue Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 It really annoys me with everyone having a go at him. Having watched the press conference, I'm impressed with what he had to say. And with his previous experience of working with the England youth team setup, let's hope that he starts to mould a more attacking, younger lineup which wins us games.
Filberts lovechild Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Have to say when it was first announced I had my head in my hands at my desk at work this morning. However after reading what has been said on BBC 606 by the Southampton fans I reckon Milan might have gone and found a gem here. Yep ok an unknown quantity at management level, but very highly regarded and at the top level as well. He'll bring in some top quality backroom staff as well, none of the clown entourage that Holloway had with him. He will motivate, but is a very serious bloke. You wouldn't want to turn up late for training if you had to confront big Nige now would you?? I've got to a point with Leicester where I'm just not interested in who we bring in as long as they do well. People that are slagging him off now are the poison of our club, your the negative idiots that makes me hate watching Leicester, if you want to support then support, moaning isn't supporting you narrow minded fools! Big Nige's blue and white army

essexfox Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Hi crispies, Ollie here. I'm sat in my garden, I love this place, the worms and slugs, I've told the missus I'm here for the long term, this place deserves top soil treatment. I just heard you've appointed another Nigel, only this one's worse than the last one, not only that, he's worse than me! Well when you hit League 2 and you've dispensed with Nige tell Mandy to give me a bell, I've a feeling I'll still be sat in the garden. Luvly jubbly now where's me secateurs
Daggers Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Hey What's the latest from the Walkers then? Ask him if he knows of any movement on the manager front? I'd love to know if we are now close to signing someone up to lead us next season.

Big Nige's blue and white army Yep.That sounds about right got to give the guy a chance very highly regarded on the south coast cannot be any worse than Donkhead/JG but i am afraid if MM had appointed Phil Scolari some of the fans would have moaned,But when you drop into the 3rd tier there is not alot to choose from. I would have liked BD but the rumour mill tells that he is not easy to employ.
Guest Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 The Southampton fan at work is gutted we have Pearson, saying they couldn't afford to keep him. The way I see it, he got a very poor team to grind out the results when it mattered. If he can do that next season with us, I will be happier.
