lavrentis Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 i reckon he's the right Pearson for the job I laughed at that!!!!!!! Quality
Corky Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Right, I am underwhelmed at this point, he hasn't got a lot of managerial experience so I'm not sure what his real credentials are. But I will get behind him, he has been appointed. If he doesn't do well, we are struggling, then have a go at him, but give him a chance to prove himself. He's not some washed-up has-been like Gregory, he will want to show what he is about.
Daggers Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 I think we need a new Pearson thread. One that has 'Latest' as a sub-heading is going to put pressure on him to constantly be generating news worthy of debate, as if he is going to spend his short time with us getting up to all kinds of malarky. I would suggest a more subdued sub-heading such as 'What Nigel did next'. This allows him to exist without the need to be doing something debatebale every hour or so. I bloody hope he does something to those hanging baskets.
Phube Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 He's not heard of you either Phube. How in the hell not?!?! I'm all over the internet!!
leicester119 Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 This is a joke Milan F*&k Off and leave us alone to get our club outta this mess which you seemed to have got us all into, thanks for absolutely nothing. Goodbye and go destroy someone elses club. We need owners and managers who give a sh&t about leicester city and you nor the manager do. ta ta.

GET BEHIND THE MANAGER!!
Bellend Sebastian Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 I'm so upset. In the absence of any suitable candidates I think the very least Milan could have done is to have a manager with all the required attributes genetically engineered and grown in a petri dish in some lab somewhere. Failing that, one could have been made of discarded body parts and then re-animated using one of those big machines that make lightning. Why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh does he not listen to the fans? And on top of all this, I get taxed too much
Jonbluefox9 Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Someone in this thread said that Pearson isn't a character. Did they want another Allen or Holloway who were 'characters' but made some awful signings and crumbled under pressure respectively? Someone else said 'will Pearson be able to keep our best players?', or something similar. Who are our best players? If they don't want to stay and play for us then they can go. We need to build a team and even if that means some of our better individuals leave then so be it. Personally, I don't think we have any players that can class themself as being the 'best' within the club.
Suffolk_fox Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Good luck to Nigel and the rest of the team. Let's bloody get out of this rut we have been in!
FleckneyFox Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Just seen the latest "New manager photoshoot" Its all to familiar
Bryn Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 I'm as pleased with as I would have been with any likely appointment. I feel he will do a decent job. We as fans have a huge task in making sure we don't put too much pressure on him. It's likely his squad will be decimated and that Mendacious Mandaric () will be penny pinching. I think it may take him a year or two to get anywhere near a promotion push.
Number 6 Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 And the 'his record is appalling' comments come along again, genius! Surely if he only had 14 games at Soton then he didn't have chance to buy anyone in and so had to go for loans. He kept Carlisle up too. If you want to quote stats then in his caretaker role at West Brom he won 75% of games and didn't lose, yes it was only 4 games but it seems unless he has a high win % people aren't going to be happy.
Katy Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Good. Now lets move on. I'm just glad I didn't have to worry about Gregory doing well so I don't have to ingest my underwear!
LE5 Chris Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 I will support him, as I always do with any new manager, but his record is appalling and I'm not going to pretend to be delighted. It rarely gets mentioned that Pearson was manager at Carlisle 9 years ago when they were bottom of Division 4, and he won 5 out of 30 games in charge. I've just seen that his total win ratio as a manager is 22%, making Ian Holloway look like a footballing genius. But in reality, no decent manager is going to come near us as long as the mad old fart Mandaric stays in charge.
Lovejoy Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Fcuk about Milan must have been desperate. Anyway having got that out the way, I will give Nigel Pearson my full 100% support, as with any manager. No he wasn't my choice (not even close) but he gets my backing! Good. Now lets move on. I'm just glad I didn't have to worry about Gregory doing well so I don't have to ingest my underwear! There's plenty of time for Nige to be sacked yet .
Flynny Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 As much as I don't think this is a particularly bad appointment, if Rob Kelly had left the club at the end of the 05-06 season to go to another club, I'm fairly sure the comments on this forum would be similar. Despite personally reckoning Kelly's slightly better than he's had credit for in keeping that shitbag of a team up two seasons running, most people wouldn't be happy with Kelly, so why this guy? Having said that, he seems to be a "good coach". The only thing I can see to suggest he isn't a Kelly type of character is that he seems to have changed the team by sheer force of will and tactical nous, rather than it all going swimmingly from nowhere. At any rate, here's to John Gregory getting the job when Pearson's sacked after two games.
Foxy1984 Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Ok I'm not excited..BUT Positive things: - Holloway is no longer in charge - We have a new manager - We can now start to look forward We're in League one. It's not going to be an easy ride! There is a lot to do to get this club moving in the right direction. It's been said before that the new man needs to work out from these players who wants to be here and who's up for the fight. Anyone who's not... has to go. This I agree with totally.. the mentality at this club has to change. We've been stuck in a big miserable rut for too long. We're all moving forward into the unknown.. with an unproven manager But lets get behind him and try and restore some pride in Leicester City.
Dames Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Hardly the most inspiring appointment. I guess we'll be slugging it out in League 1 for the next few years then.
Daggers Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Duh duh duh we have got a manager!!! Duh duh duh for at least a couple of weeks!!!
Number 6 Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 I feel a bit like Pearson is really going to have his work cut out here. He is taking over a club in a right mess, and a lot of fans appear already to be waiting for the first slight slip up. If he stays in charge he will officially lead us to our lowest position ever. I hope Manderic gives him a good go. I reckon he will be good for us.
MPH Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 i want three new players by the end of the day Or i want a new manager!!
