termite111 Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 I don't think this was everybodys first choice to be Leicester manager. But i think we all need to back him and get behind him! I have a feeling that we are going to boo him for some reason! I seroiusly hope not to. we've had managers in the past that have come in with good reputations and done absolutely nothing so why not try someone thats not got a big reputation. alot of fans expected to much last year and inperticular with holloway all brought on by the hype of MM but realistically not alot was gonna change. i was expecting mid table at best so it didn't surprise me what happened so let's just get behind pearson like our EXCELLENT FANS ALWAYS DO and make any team scared to come play us at home.
Thracian Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 When push comes to shove and whatever the background reasons, he's the guy we've got. And it's not his fault if we've become a laughing stock, if the chairman makes daft remarks orwhether some of the players may be intent on leaving. We've all expressed our views and, as an appointment, it appears to have prompted as wide a range of fors/againsts and everything in between as I can remember. To me all the matters now is the bloke's performance and I'll make it clear from the off that I sincerley hope he's successful. There are many important aspects of a manager's job that he will have to tackle quickly but the major factor is team spirit - and a team spirit which runs right through the club and includes every public announcement by the chairman, assistant manager's, players and everyone else. Sometimes it's seemed like the dog's wagging the tail at City and there is no general sense of purpose whatsoever. It's no use saying to fans give him a season, give him til Christmas, give him this that and the other. Fans will react to what is served up on the pitch and the collective spirit which the manager engenders. They'll notice if progress is being made or not. They'll even sympathise when results are bad if the performance offers encouragement. But, bottom line is we need someone to give us pride in our team and our football again. Pearson's been to clubs where that pride is part of the fabric. He has pre-season to prepare, backing will surely be available from the chairman, he has a passable squad for his starting point so there will be no excuses and much expectation. He presents himself as a hard-case. Well I'll be impressed if he's got the mental toughness and self-belief to steer us in the direction I've been talking about for some years. It's the era of speed, support and scoring goals. Of fast attacking full-backs, wingers who disturb defences and strikers/midfielders who know where the net is. What's required is simple. Having the single-mindedness to deliver is altogether harder. But it's a rare chance for Pearson and despite my well-founded reservations I would love to be celebrating the fact of his arrival here at the end of next season.
Jonezy Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Looked calm and composed at the press conference. Nice not to have a center of attention kind of guy, who just speaks bollocks. Hopefully the kind of character we need. I like the fact, that he has been involved with the U21s, and of course the nice things Saints fans are saying about him. I don't think I had a favorite for the job out of the potential ones. I'm just happy we finally managed to lure someone into the job, so he can start the rebuilding progress. This is the first tiny step in a long progress to get us re-established as a decent football club again. Nigel's Blue Army. Bring on the fricking League One!!!!!!!!!!
Hitesh Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Hmm..not sure about this appointment but I'll judge him on results and where we are at the end of the season (or when he's sacked, which ever comes first) Just a little peice of random informtion - Pearson was in the Boro Cup Final squad that we beat in 97. Link
Daggers Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Hmm..not sure about this appointment but I'll judge him on results and where we are at the end of the season (or when he's sacked, which ever comes first) 8/15 says he doesn't last the season according to the odds on Sky
Brainy Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Some presenter from Talksport has been chosen for the next managerial victim of the Leicester City curse. If that was the case Cant stand him.
DanTheFox07 Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Why three ****ing years?Baffles me. Perhaps Mandaric wants to show everyone that he is going to support this manager and not sack him if we continue to go downhill!
lookwhaticando Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Perhaps Mandaric wants to show everyone that he is going to support this manager and not sack him if we continue to go downhill! Allen - 3 years. Megson - would've been 2+ a bit years (effectively three seasons, he took over early enough). Holloway - three and a half years. Three years... that spells backing.
Noble101 Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 I told you! Better than Gregory, but not who I'd hoped for, fingers crossed for the season, but I can see all this happening again by Christmas!!
Candidcamera Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 He's a real unknown but unlike the Walshy threads he has remained in footie and he has learned his trade. No telling how he'll go but if he's going to be good he must play the youngsters. This includes Hume and Fryatt.
coale39 Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Im ok with this appointment. As a player he has had success and hopefully he has a winning mentality. Just so glad Gregs ant in charge.
davieG Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Why three ****ing years?Baffles me. Where does it say 3 years - I've not seen that? A link would be useful so I can update the squad topic. Sorry if I've missed it and it's been posted already.

Babylon Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 i'm absolutely devestated, i rate him so, so poorly. I really don't know where comments like this come from. He has barely even got a track record for people to look at as a manager. So how do you form that opinion?
Babylon Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 not happy..one word sums up this appointment RUBISH.......i dont think mandaric has a clue or was it a case of who would come to our joke of a club !!!! lavrentis Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 not happy..one word sums up this appointment RUBISH.......i dont think mandaric has a clue or was it a case of who would come to our joke of a club !!!! The one word you sum up your opinion of this appointment you spell wrong.
Simi Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 not happy..one word sums up this appointment RUBISH. So where is this "word" then, all I can see is letters scrambled together. I do not know this word.
Daggers Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 I really don't know where comments like this come from. He has barely even got a track record for people to look at as a manager. So how do you form that opinion? There's a book they get when they join a secret society - they get their own direct dial number for the moan-in and a signed picture of Elvis Hammond too.
Shrenchel Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 We are in league one, we have a bunch of moany arse fans and a nut job of a chairman.... what did you expect. Real talk.
markbsac Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 The one word you sum up your opinion of this appointment you spell wrong. sorry about that ..spose you could'nt understand what i meant then !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
reynard Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 What a complete gamble. Have to say I'm not sure I would have renewed my season ticket if I had known Pearson was to be our manager. All I can say is I hope he has learnt from his mistakes which have been several. His limited managerial experience has been hallmarked by abject mediocrity and failure. His time at carlisle was awful. He only kept southampton up largely because we were worse. Even more worrying he spent two years as assistant manager to Bryan Robson probably the worst manager in the world. At newcastle the defence was a complete shambles and he doesn't really carry an degree of gravitas in the game which may be the difference between players coming/staying and going elsewhere/leaving. As usual with city it is a case of hoping for the best. What chance he will be gone by christmas?
