  1. 1. What's your initial reaction to the new manager?

    • Hot and bothered, really excited, he'll take us places.

    • Luke warm, a bit of drizzle. More of the same.

    • Completely wrong choice, another relegation fight looks likely with him.

    • Apathy. Wait and see policy. Not bothered who city appoint anymore.

My first and only thought when I heard we'd got Pearson was "well, at least we've got somebody."

We'll only know if he's any good or not when he's got a few games under his belt.

Ho hum...

Personally I think we could have done a lot worse, but could have also done better.

I'm prepared to support the bloke if he gives it his all. Only time will tell whether it's a good appointment but if it's not, Mandaric can go.

Mildly pleased.

The man had captained a couple of very good clubs, including Sheffield Wednesday. No doubt he is a leader on the pitch then and from what I've seen he's a leader of it. This is certainly something we have lacked over the past few seasons.

He won't take any shit, based on what Southampton fans have said. He's got a lot to prove in the game and no doubt he wants bigger things in the future.

Roll on August.

Luke-warm, but extatic that it's not the Gregory/Walsh "dream team".... we'll see i suppose, he's been solid in his past jobs and always a good number 2, he did the job that was asked of him with Saints and cant be faulted as somone with out experiance of coaching at the highest level so some grounds for optimism i suppose.

We'll see. I really don't like the look of him tbh, he was assistant at Newcastle and and always came out with the same shit every week when Allardyce wouldn't do the interviews. He does seem like the type to tell people to shut the **** up if they get mouthy which is something Holloway I don't think would do. So yeah, we'll see.

Managers come out with the same shit anyway and if you were being shoved in front of a camera getting asked the same inane questions, being asked to do Allardyce's job for him you'd give the same replies and quotes each time too.

If he gets backed by the Chairman, backed by the fans and the players take on board what he wants to do then he'll have no excuses for failure. As ever, it'll all come down to the players and whether they can be arsed on a Saturday afternoon.

He looks like an arsehole, sounds like an arsehole and I bet his tactics are arsehole worthy too. Not happy.

Let's not let your lack of personal attraction to the man get in the way of things.

Just out of curiosity, did you fancy Gregory?

As for the 'same shit' business... so bloody what? If he gets the job done, I couldn't give a bollocks as to what he says to the press after a game. It's not as if having the wittiest clown from the South West did us much good. Humour the clown did provide... usually with his team selections rather than his post-match interviews.

I was hoping for Nigel Worthington myself. And he was saying the same old shit when they were losing, so they weren't getting the job done anyway.

I've just this seconds found out having been at work all day and no one said owt.

My reaction was ... What aload of crap, the guy couldn't even get the southampton job ffs. Holloway was bad and i hated him but this guy is another Peter Taylor, oh yes i've worked wonders as coach blah blah blah.

CRAP.

He was just the assistant manager at Newcastle... it wasn't his ship to steer. Hence, he's somewhat limited as to what he can say to the press after another loss - especially when the actual manager ducks out of it. Most managers say the same shit after several defeats - what more is there you can say?

Funnily enough, your reaction is eerily similar to that of 99% of this forums' posters when they see that you're replying to a topic.

Ships?

Ducks?

I can see more water-based puns flooding the forum again.

Oh yeah, also why i laughed at Pearson. Man Utd played Newcastle at OT this season and smashed them 6-0 and he was in charge and you should of heard his excuses ... He set that team up and hardly like Newcastle had bad players. Owen, Duff, the fat oz one, Butt.

He didn't continue at Southampton because is wasn't financially viable, not because he wasn't good enough. I really hope Pearson does well for us not just because I want Leicester to be successful, but also to ram sentiments like these straight back down your throats. I for one am looking forward to the season, considering the managers (an ex-players) that would realistically have wanted the job, Pearson is right up there as one of the better candidates. We're League 1 with a nutjob chairman, the job isn't an attractive proposition anymore, I'm just glad we've got someone.

We could have done better then him easily though. The man is another Peter Taylor fer god sakes. Typical yes i've got all my coaching badges and coached English best young talent before. Then give him a REAL MANAGERS job then watch him burn.

He'll be like that tit who was in charge of Charlton was it Les Read ? Great coach = Crap manager.

There's no evidence to suggest Les Reed was a great coach.

He was employed by the FA, for fcks sakes!

From a football perspective you can't really pre-judge because as we know to our cost relatively successful managers don't always deliver. He's not exactly failed any where so that's a plus. Mandaric insisted on having someone who would at least attempt to play attractive football and by all accounts Pearson does do that even if it's built on a strong defence.

On a personal level reports indicate that he is a man of substance with integrity and dignity and that is something that is severly lacking at LCFC at best we are seen as a laughing stock and at worst cheats.

Our reputation needs restoring on two levels football and club level, restoring our football credentials is going to be difficult for anyone to achieve and anyone would be a risk but I do sense that Pearson can restore a degree of self respect in how the club conducts it's business, deals with the media etc. I'm hopeful that in spite of Mandarics presence Pearson can restore our pride in the club.

What alot of players who trained under him have said apart from Steve EGO Gerrard.

Who?

A real manager, Grayson would have took it.

A lot of players say it's "a dream come true" to play for a "big club" like Leicester City.

A lot of players say they have no intention of leaving a club, and then do so anyway.

A lot of players say a lot of things they don't genuinely mean.

Considering we just narrowly avoided a serious case of Gregory, I think we should all be a lot happier than we are, tbh.

The Saints fans seem fairly impressed with him and we could have done a lot worse, as well as a lot better. Where have decent, up-coming managers with a good track record gotten us recently? Pftt. How anyone can be overly negative before he's even done anything is beyond me.

I'm joining Team Apathy. Go, go mellow rangers!
