Unabomber Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 For me it has to be The Office, and nothing really comes close to it. Just for its originality, and I find it can be watched over and over again.

Yeah, The Office is awesome tbh, one of those few things I could watch over and over again, and laugh at every time.
Unabomber Posted 27 June 2008 Author Posted 27 June 2008 Having said that I also think that every episode of Alan Partridge it fooking hillarious. Abso-Bloody-Exactly!
General Smuts Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 Spaced. Nuff said. Front runners also - Coupling, Greek, The Inbetweeners, Family Guy.
Unabomber Posted 28 June 2008 Author Posted 28 June 2008 The Inbetweeners Fair point, when this first aired I wasn't expecting much, but parts of it were hilarious.
Ozwin Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 Curb Your Enthusiasm. Larry David is a pure genius and this show just makes me laugh every episode more than anything else. The situations he finds himself in during the show are insane and I know it's not real but the unscripted writing makes it feel as though it is. The American Office. Much funnier and laugh out loud'ier than the UK one. That's not to take anything away from the UK one, as it's very good, but the US one gives me more laughs which is what primarily I'm looking for in a comedy.

Just can't agree with the office comment at all, but that my opinion. I have just started watching Curb Your Enthusiasm and it is great. It is great how it is mainly improvisation. Have you seen the poker scene where he suddenly calls the guy a ****? lol

Much funnier? Not in a million years, don't get me wrong the USA one is ok, but the original is in another league entirely. The whole point of the Office is that it's meant to be a believable, realistic documentary about an Office, and the original is perfect in every way. The characters are incredible and believable and in the US version they just aren't. It's not believable, it's obviously a comedy show and the characters are so obiously following a script, which misses the point entirely. They've basically taken the original and changed it to suite an American audience who aren't familiar with the British sense of humour and IMO dumbed it down by making the jokes much more obvious. Gareth, Brent and Tim or Dwight, Michael and Jim? no contest. It's no better than your average American comedy like Scrubs or Friends. So yeah anyway The Office ORIGINAL is the best comedy of recent times, and IMO one of the best comedies of all time, nothing beats it for painful, awkward scenes, for example : http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=4_7bz3gj2bI But in more recent times, i'm going with Flight of the Conchords, it's just fantastic, very dry humour but brilliantly done and the characters in it are some of the best i've seen. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=8v62uLnpOvY&...feature=related

I love the reactions of everyone else around him and then later on him and Jeff talk about how **** is worse than p*ssy nd that he should have used that insult instead or something. If you get the chance you should watch the bloopers, I was literally in tears.

I will, that episode was just hillarious though, the way it goes completely quiet during the outburst is priceless.
Libertine Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 Spaced. Nuff said.Front runners also - Coupling, Greek, The Inbetweeners, Family Guy. Just bought the boxset today and am about to watch some on me laptop. Anyway mine is probably Scrubs or My Name is Earl.
Mr Happy Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 Seen a couple of episodes of My Name Is Earl, pretty funny stuff, but for me the best comedy of recent(ish) times was Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere, easily Never watched The Office so can't comment on that
MikeyT Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 The (British) OfficeScrubs Yep i'd go with that. Ive never been a fan of The Office, Alan Partridge or anything like that. I have to be honest and say, i'm more attracted to the American sitcoms and comedies. Dont know why! Although if it comes to something like Stand up comedy then i think we are far better over here in the good old UK.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 Early Doors, criminally underated. I really want to see this only ever saw one ep and it was quallity
Fox You Forest Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 My Name Is Earl Two Pints Of Lager The Office - British
AmericanScott Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 I have to agree with the Curb fans! The show is just amazingly funny. I've got one of the seasons on dvd and find mself watching the entire thing on a lonely night. This is one of my favorite scenes http://youtube.com/watch?v=-B3oC6yWY0A Oh Larry!
purpleronnie Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 The Office (English one), Spaced, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld, Peep Show, Alan partridge, Game on, Men behaving badly, Phoenix nights, Red dwarf, Ellen, Just shoot me, King of queens, Black books.
Jay Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 can the likes of The Office, Red Dwarf. Alan Partridge and so on really be classed as recent? I mean the first series of I'm Alan Partridge was in like 1997 11 years ago, Red Dwarf started in 1988 20 years ago, The Office 2001 7 years ago surely recent means 2-3 years? I'm loving this on E4 at the minute. just makes me howl with laughter
