syston_fox Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 im guessing there wont be any more space for me? Just bang your name down - there will be a fair few drop outs I reckon!
Ashley Posted 7 July 2008 Author Posted 7 July 2008 Just bang your name down - there will be a fair few drop outs I reckon! There will be drop outs we had a squad of 22 for the talking balls game and we ended up with about 15 players.
Sparky Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 To be honest i reckon we need a manager , somebody who dont fancy playing .
Ashley Posted 7 July 2008 Author Posted 7 July 2008 To be honest i reckon we need a manager , somebody who dont fancy playing . I'd be happy with you or DavieG taking charge.
Sparky Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 I'd be happy with you or DavieG taking charge. Id prefer to concentrate on the playing side to be honest . Davieg or Thraction if either interested
Katy Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 Davieg did a cracking, well organised job. Even if you don't get a game it's always worth coming along to watch, it's a cracking social event. Could get linesmen then if demand is high

Could get linesmen then if demand is high I'd be happy with DavieG as Gaffer. He did do a great job last time and he can be trusted and not be biased.
Kilworthfox Posted 7 July 2008 Posted 7 July 2008 Cheers for putting my name down! Who ever did it Legend!

AoWW Posted 8 July 2008 Posted 8 July 2008 This is the problem we're going to get from now on - interest is always going to be high because these events have become so popular. There's not really any fair way to do this but something has to be done. Priority should be given to those who regularly turn up. Not sure I agree, to be honest. I guess those that do regularly turn up would say that though. Just seems pretty biased to me and it effectively makes these teams a closed shop. What would happen if, for example, one of the Aussies or Yanks or someone from further afield was over and wanted to play? "No, sorry mate - you're not a regular, hard luck." Maybe I just have a different perspective as I don't live in/near Leicester.

But then on the other hand how would everyone whose made the effort before feel if the team was comprised of mostly people with 10 posts of less but who got their names down first?

I don't recall saying anything about how many posts people had. Oh, I get it - you have to have say a minimum of 2000 posts, live within a 10 mile radius of Leicester, attend each FT game religiously, be friends with the right people........... then you can be one of the favoured few.

Nooooo I don't think that was meant at all, there has to be a easier, fairer way if there's a big demand for places but I do not know what that is unfortunately.
Finnegan Posted 8 July 2008 Posted 8 July 2008 haha which one did you play on how long and what age ? Fook knows, tbh. I was only about 13 or 14 and playing for Rothley Imps (I'm 22 now.)
Ashley Posted 8 July 2008 Author Posted 8 July 2008 If we carnt get a pitch i've said in the time and date thread that Thurnby Rangers normally lend pitch out for about £40/£50 and normally food and drinks are on sale however it might be too far into Leicester for the Forest fans? Just an idea i'm still up for playing at Loughbrough Dyanmo tho.
Hullfox Posted 8 July 2008 Posted 8 July 2008 As ever, I'm interested in playing a part but appreciate that many names are down already.
Sparky Posted 8 July 2008 Posted 8 July 2008 Has anybody come up with a fair idea how to select the squad ? Seems that ideas keep getting knocked but no one has come up with a good 1 yet

Uncle Albert Posted 8 July 2008 Posted 8 July 2008 I think the 15 who turned up at the TB game and then choose another 7 players?
Simi Posted 8 July 2008 Posted 8 July 2008 I think the 15 who turned up at the TB game and then choose another 7 players? Controversial.
