billyfox1 Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/ Is MM paying the mirror to make Mattock their manin football headline. Trying to raise his value?
jaybee Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 Young Joe Mattock is one of the few remaining jewels in Leicesters' currently slightly tarnished crown. West Ham are a good footballing club but he will be going there to warm the bench not play football. If he has to go, I would expect Milan to squeeze every last penny out of them for one of the bright young emerging talents in English football.
Guest ttfn Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 Does anyone know why Mattock wasn't even in the squad for the U19s the other day?
Spiritwalker Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 I hope he stays but if he is going then 2m is the least we should let him go for. I just hope this is given to NP to strengthen rather than back in MM's poket to recoup his outlay last season.
breadandcheese Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 If West Ham's reserve team players Pantsil and Zamora go for £3mill a piece, then a valuation of £2mill upfront falls far short for a signing who will join their reserve team.
rickylcfc Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 Sell him, he aint as good as you lot make him out to be.
Charnwood Norris Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 Hammers have got the cash from the sales of Pantsil & Zamora. £3m I'd take for Mattock - England u21, young; they'll put him into the 'maturing hut' and he'll probably get 10 prem games from the bench and a couple of cup run outs. I still question his defensive capabilities, though.

Agreed, I know he is still very young but defensively Mattock has a lot more to learn than people seem to think. I reckon we should take any offer in excess of £1m providing there is at least a 30% sell on clause that could make us a tidy sum in the future if he does get good.
Ashley Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 I hope we dont sell him and if we do surely a season long loan back to us, as part of the deal?

Noel Edmonds Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 He's been linked with the hammers for ages, wouldn't be surprised to see him sign for them when the u-19 chamionships is over. Perhaps he's seen how West Ham youngsters and fellow England u-19 teammates Freddie Sears and James Tomkins have broken into a top half premiership side and cemented places in the run in last season.
Jimmy Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 watching the scousers on 5 Liverpool want to loan out Insua, an Argentinian youth international left back, might be worth a shout should Mattock go
sdb Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 watching the scousers on 5 Liverpool want to loan out Insua, an Argentinian youth international left back, might be worth a shout should Mattock go Bit good for League 1! Newcastle are after him too...
Jimmy Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 Bit good for League 1! Newcastle are after him too... rumoured to be he said I think, spose it depends on weather they want him to play or as back up, their little no 9 looks a bit of a gem as well
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 watching the scousers on 5 Liverpool want to loan out Insua, an Argentinian youth international left back, might be worth a shout should Mattock go We will never get Fernando Insua.
Jimmy Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 We will never get Fernando Insua. good job he's called Emiliano Insúa then ...
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 good job he's called Emiliano Insúa then ... It is. I got him mixed up with someone else. If Liverpool are loaning us Argy youths though, I'll take Sebastian Leto.

Dames Posted 18 July 2008 Posted 18 July 2008 this is gunna seem weird coming from a leicester fan in recent years, but do we need another winger? Yes seeing as we only have 2 proper out and out wingers. Gradel and Dyer.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 19 July 2008 Posted 19 July 2008 You crazy arseholes. Leto? Insua? You having a laugh? Nowt wrong with dreaming. And we've got a kid on loan from Arsenal, I'm sure Liverpool actually wouldn't mind loaning them out if they are going to get regular experience.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 19 July 2008 Posted 19 July 2008 Fair point but these are a class above Gilbert. Gilbert is more experienced in English football though, and although there have been smatterings of brilliance in the ressies, I doubt they're that much better than Gilbert.
Ozwin Posted 19 July 2008 Posted 19 July 2008 Alright alright. But if we get either one of those two players mentioned I will eat a hat which I will have specially purchased for just such an occasion.
