Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 19 July 2008 Posted 19 July 2008 Alright alright. But if we get either one of those two players mentioned I will eat a hat which I will have specially purchased for just such an occasion. As will I.
Noel Edmonds Posted 19 July 2008 Posted 19 July 2008 Talking about Mattock. Why the fook is he not being played considering he is more or less the only u-19 squad memeber who has had 4 appearances for the under 21-s??
lcfc81 Posted 19 July 2008 Posted 19 July 2008 I think Mattock only got picked for the U21s as the starting U19s left-back (Bertnard or something) broke an U19 curfew just before Stuart Pearce was going to promote a left back!!!!! I think he is forgiven now!!

I think he is forgiven now!! Yep, but in his last 1/2 appearances for the U-21, Mattock played left-back and I think that Bertrand was played left-wing...
Noel Edmonds Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 Now that the championships are over and Joe will be returning, anybody else feel that his departure from the club will be soon?
Big Ol' Bob Posted 23 July 2008 Posted 23 July 2008 Got it on good authority from a family member of Joe's that the club have recieved contact from officials at West Ham. Joe is interested in moving down there after Nigel Pearson has said that he has a left back replacement lined up and that if Joe wishes to leave then he can do so. Hammers scouts were out at the Euro championships and spoke to Joe along with some Hungarian player. Joe has also been talking alot to West Ham duo James Tomkins and Fred Sears whilst out there and has more or less fully made his mind up. Contract negotiations are set to start sometime in the next week. Sad to see him go, there is always the chance of a loan back to us perhaps?
Houdini Logic Posted 23 July 2008 Posted 23 July 2008 His heart wasn't in it last night at all. I thought that. I thought he was there last night to stop his legs ceasing up
billyfox1 Posted 23 July 2008 Posted 23 July 2008 His heart wasn't in it last night at all. That doesn't sound too promising
Simi Posted 23 July 2008 Posted 23 July 2008 That doesn't sound too promising This isn't sounding too good at all. If he's got his heart set on a move then there is no point in him being here. Hopefully we'll be able to get good money for him and spend it wisely. It's football, players move on.
Unabomber Posted 23 July 2008 Posted 23 July 2008 As long as we get a decent fee I don't mind him leaving, as it is pretty clear that he will definately be leaving sometime within the next year. Wish him all the best, and like Trigger said his heart wasn't in it last night which was disappointing.
SamL Posted 23 July 2008 Posted 23 July 2008 This isn't sounding too good at all. It was always going to happen when we got relegated. It's a shame but if it's what the lad wants, let him go.

Big Ol' Bob Posted 23 July 2008 Posted 23 July 2008 Not an obsession, its all facts that I've been made aware of that is all.
Noel Edmonds Posted 23 July 2008 Posted 23 July 2008 Someone once said I was Obsessed. Which I find funny seeing how I only weigh 11st 6.

Noel Edmonds Posted 23 July 2008 Posted 23 July 2008 Obsessed. Obese. Doesn't matter, wasn't even trying to be funny anyway....
MC Prussian Posted 23 July 2008 Posted 23 July 2008 That doesn't sound too promising This isn't sounding too good at all. Well, it was somewhat bound to happen. Can't just cling on to young talent when you just got relegated. It's the dream and intention of every professional football player to perform on the highest level possible and can't really blame Mattock if this deal is going through. And once the offer's good enough, why holding him back? All I hope is that the money earned (together with all the other "high-profile" transfers) will be spent wisely for once. Yes, one can still hope.
Bryn Posted 23 July 2008 Posted 23 July 2008 Good luck to him, he'll be a tidy player. Hopefully a decent fee and a decent replacement.
Jonezy Posted 23 July 2008 Posted 23 July 2008 Bound to happen. Hopefully we will get decent money for him, and Hammers are not the worst place for a young footballer.
Joe. Posted 23 July 2008 Posted 23 July 2008 People will eventually realise that he's not that good. £2-2.5 million would be a great deal for us.
lildave3 Posted 23 July 2008 Posted 23 July 2008 I wouldn't be too upset if he went, didn't look interested at all last night. Still want a fair bit for him though.
