Team for Birmingham game

Based on the pre-season games so far what does everyone think the team will be for Birmingham?

I only went to the Quorn game but from what everyone has said i think it should be:

GK:Henderson

RB:Gilbert

CB:Hobbs

CB:Tunchev

LB:Mattock

RM:Adams

CM:Oakley©

CM:Wesolowski

LM:Dyer

ST:Fryatt

ST:Campbell

I definately think that Henderson should start in goal.

Gilberts the obvious choice at right-back.

Hobbs another obvious choice at the back.

Tunchev should get his chance i think.

Mattock is basically the only choice we've got.

Adams at right mid seems to work well with Gilbert down the right.

Oakley and Wesolowski for me in the middle Oakley can pass very well and Wesolowski can break up the play well.

Dyer is an obvious choice for me on the left wing

Fryatt and Campbell as they seem to be the only strikers interested.

I think Gradel should come on with 20 minutes to go and get behind the tired defences and score some goals.

Your Thoughts?

Well only if he's ready. I think he'll play some part in the match, see what he's made of against better opposition.

Think your about spot on, i actually think this will be the side that starts against MK Dons if Tunchev is fit enough which is a shame on Gradel but he will be good off the bench with his pace etc.

Adams won't play in the middle, he hasn't played a minute there all pre season. I think it will be Oakley in for Gradel and Adams on the right. Also not sure who will start at cb, hopefully Pearson will know who to play along side Hobbs.

It's wishful thinking more than anything. Basically I don't want to get rid of either Gradel or Dyer and Adams is a natural central midfielder. I do agree with you though, I think Gradel will make way for Oakley and Adams will go to the right.

Considering Adams hasn't played centre midfield at all so far I doubt he'll play there Tuesday, i also expect it to be close to what we'll see against MK Dons.

I'd like to see Hobbs and Tunchev together but I don't think he'll start so I think Worley will play alongside Hobbs.

I don't think Adams and Gradel have played together yet and its something I'd like to try, I think they could switch wings quite well and cause some problems.

I wouldn't go for Howard and Campbell myself but I think thats what Pearson will go for.

Still cannot see why Gilbert would get picked ahead of Chambers. He's looked far more comfortable for me in the posistion than Gilbert and linked up well with the winger.

I fully expect Adams to be ahead of Gradel, but my team would look like that. Gradel just offers more than Adams overall. Today you could see his confidence on the ball and he's willing to try a lot more stuff than Adams which is vital for us. We didn't create enough chances last season and it saw us go down. With Gradel in the team, he can always offer a moment of magic, which we'll be needing.

Tunchev needs to play in this game if he wants to start the season I think. Hopefully he can be a calm head to look after Hobbs, because based on today all of our centre halves need a little help.

He wanted it far more than Oakley today who was once again a passenger. I've just realised I meant to put Weso instead of Oakley, so let me edit that. But Kish for captain, for now.

But what really excites me is we've got Ashley Chambers, Billy Mckay, Levi Porter, Ryan Beswick and Andy King pushing for a squad place

With our options I'd go with pace and passing as far through as possible.

Henderson;

James Chambers, Worley, Tunchev, Mattock;

Adams, Weso, Porter, Gradel;

DJ, Fryatt.

subs: Logan, Gilbert, Hobbs, Oakley, A.Chambers.

Why with such pacey wingers we'd want to use two holding midfielders instead of have a creative midfielder like Porter I've no idea. Porter can shoot too so we'd have five potential scorers and posible Worley too if he can make his presence felt from set pieces. That team would have just about as much movement as we could muster too.

Three of the middle four could interchange constantly and Chambers/Mattock my well represent our best attacking options at full-back.

I would play as many as possible personally.

Give them a run out at the Walkers, and try and show off a bit. Dont worry about the score. fook that.

General idea of it would be to free up the wingers a bit more I guess. I wouldn't have a problem with a Kish-Weso partnership if meant that players like Dyer and Gradel could have a bit more freedom.
