Daggers Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 That' why I left this open, the post of mine was to satisfy my Tuesday morning smug allowance. I am about to soundly beat my children at three different board games and in a video games fight. I am torn as to whether I should make them write congratulation speeches for the awards ceremony we are going to hold this afternoon so I can amass a collection of trophies.
MC Prussian Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 Goodbye and good luck. Could've done something here, but then again, I'm not too downhearted. Still, we're in dire need of another striker with Howard probably on his way out. Please. Just one. A younger one. A good one, mind you.
Austin Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 Dickov's destiny unclear Striker keeps interested parties guessing Blackpool boss Simon Grayson has been forced to concede that he may miss out on Paul Dickov. The veteran striker, who enjoyed a productive loan spell at Bloomfield Road last season, is available on a free transfer following his release by Manchester City. The 35-year-old has held talks with the Seasiders, Leicester and MLS side Toronto FC regarding a permanent move. However, it remains uncertain as to where the former Scotland international will begin the 2008/09 campaign. Targets "I left a message with Paul on Friday morning and that's basically where we are," Grayson told the Blackpool Gazette. "Until I can get hold of him it's hard to find out exactly what's happening, but we've obviously got other targets in mind. "I keep reiterating that we are short and we are working really hard to get people in." Still doesnt clear anything up I guess, but nothing confirmed about his destination. Link
ronnup Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 Piss off Paul. Dithering 35 year olds who think they're too good for us do not fit in anymore.
Daggers Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 Mandaric interview during the half-time on RL: This saga is not over.
Master Fox Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 Mandaric interview during the half-time on RL: This saga is not over. Is this about rolling contracts?
dandannieldanok Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 Mandaric interview during the half-time on RL: This saga is not over. He really isn't worth this bother, I wouldn't have minded signing him a week ago but this is becoming slightly farcical.

Guest Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 Mandaric interview during the half-time on RL: This saga is not over. That'll be the new club slogan for this year I can just see it. Leicester City : This Saga Is Not Over!!

MC Prussian Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 I think after all this back and forth with Little Feisty Paul, this whole story needs an appropriate ending. Any suggestions? (I simply want this to stop and can't understand how a player can fool three clubs simultaneously and probably getting away with it)
FilboFox Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 Sod him... he's clearly just somebody else who wants a last pay-check before he retires and won't put in the effort... especially the effort this club needs from a front man to get us back into the Championship.

JoeyB Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 Mandaric not giving up on DickovMilan Mandaric Mandaric is still talking to Dickov about a return to the club Leicester City chairman Milan Mandaric is still interested in signing former Foxes striker Paul Dickov. The Scot, 35, seemed to have rejected a move back to Leicester when he went to talk to Canadian side Toronto FC. Mandaric told BBC Radio Leicester: "Right now he's still in the process of talking to a North American team. "We're in dialogue with him, so we don't know what will happen but we do still have interest and we will see what happens." Dickov is also a target of Championship side Blackpool, where he spent a loan spell at last season. Manchester City decided to release Dickov at the end of the season. He played for Leicester for two years between 2004 and 2006, scoring 37 goals in 97 appearances. Mandaric also praised new manager Nigel Pearson on the players he has recruited this summer. He said: "The additions we have brought in are spot on. Its a tremendous recruiting programme by Nigel and his staff and I think every player that he brought so far is going to play a key role in our campaign next season." From bbc
paul12 Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 City are keeping an eye on striker Paul Dickov's situation.
FilboFox Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 you either have a short memory or never saw him play - thats one thing i would never of accused dickov of, and thats a lack of effort... Oh and you really think he's going to be putting in 110% if he comes to League One whilst knocking on the door of retirement... give it a rest! He's looking for a last pay check before he goes and I think whatever club he goes to, he'll be little more than someone you chuck on half way through a game to see if he can change things around with a few efforts... yes in the past he's done very well and was a real nightmare for defenders but at his age now? Why do you think he's waiting to see what offers come in? Not out of wanting to help a team or any sense of loyalty clearly... he's after the cash... I'd love to be proved wrong and for him to come here and be a mighty force up front and bag loads of goals for us but to be honest, I think he'd just be tagging along for the ride and picking up a cool few thousand pounds a week for it.
izzetafox? Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 From bbc Shows how much the bbc know, he played for us between 2002 and 2004, on 04-06! Tbh i just wish he would make his mind up either way, the whole saga is getting very tedious!

Austin Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 In all fairness i'd take him back .. teach DJ where the net is ..
FilboFox Posted 2 August 2008 Posted 2 August 2008 Fine... if you think that he'd be any good then stick to your deluded idea that he'd be the same Dickov we used to watch... I for one am not holding my breath if he does finally make his mind up about who is going to give him the most per week.

But he is getting older now and looking to the future, I dont reckon he would be worth it anymore.
