surrifox Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 Yeah, we all know Milan loves the big spectaculars. If he can get them both it means he can hold a press conference and have a "Picture Special".And to top it off they'll get Savage to say something like "I'm glad I helped Derby get sent down, I was secretly working for City all along!" as well as "where can I park the bentley ? You can take it for a spin round the car park later Milan if you want"
billyfox1 Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 http://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/sports-n...oday.4366171.jp anyone heard anything about the so-called press conference yet?
mmarkie Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 This Dickov thing is really pissing me off now because i've been waiting for it to be announced as Knowitall said it would be today and then now in the Mercury it says that it will be done later tonight.
GLC Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 Leicester City fans are ready to "raise the roof" to welcome back former striker Paul Dickov to the Walkers Stadium. Dickov is expected to complete his move back to the club in time for Saturday's League One curtain-raiser against MK Dons. Negotiations were last night on-going between City and the former Scotland international, with sources hopeful a deal to secure his services will be tied up today. If the move goes through, Dickov, 35, will become Nigel Pearson's eighth signing of the summer and add to the competition in attack. And many supporters have been quick to express their delight at Dickov's likely arrival - four years after his first spell at the club, in which he scored 32 league goals in 81 league starts and eight substitute appearances. The Mercury has been inundated with emails and responses on www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk from supporters ready to welcome him back. Barry-John, of Shrewsbury, said: "Fantastic. Let's raise the roof for him on Saturday, make him feel special and he will deliver. Let's hope he inspires the others to follow suit." Ryan Finney, of Woodgate, added: "I think this is great news. Dickov plays with passion and that's what we lacked last season. "Well done Pearson. I like your style of play and I think he has restored the pride back in the City fans." City exile John king, emailing the Mercury from Spain, said: "I think the return of Paul Dickov is a real coup for Nigel Pearson. "This will put bums on seats at the Walkers and will help tremendously in League One." Dickov has been pursued by Blackpool and Major League Soccer side Toronto during the close-season. He scored six goals in seven starts and four substitute appearances during a loan spell at Bloomfield Road last season, including the winning goal against City in February. City Supporters' Club chairman Cliff Ginnetta believes Dickov will be an ideal addition to Pearson's squad. "I think most people will be pleased to see him come back," said Ginnetta. "He was a big hero. He scored a lot of vital goals, and I am sure he will again. He has bags of experience. "Having said that, he didn't leave in the best of circumstances and some people will remember that. "The fans I have spoken to have been encouraged. Everyone knows we need a fox in the box to score those goals. He will always get you a goal." Dickov's presence would almost certainly increase the interest in Saturday's clash, with City officials hopeful the attendance will top 25,000 whos gonna welcome him?

SamL Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 Jesus!!!!! 25000 attendance!!!!i think we need a sweep stake, see who comes closest to the official turn out We've already got a thread for people to guess the attendance, why would you want another one?
Ric Flair Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 This Dickov thing is really pissing me off now because i've been waiting for it to be announced as Knowitall said it would be today and then now in the Mercury it says that it will be done later tonight. Are you this impatient about things that really matter in life as well?
MC Prussian Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 Blanderson and Ginnetta... "... would almost certainly increase the interest in Saturday's game, ..." And again, a one-sided free ad for the club and its officials with loads of bollocks in between. The only reason we'd need more people showing up this season is to pay off Dickov's wages...
Corky Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 I agree, I'm only going in the hope of seeing Paul Dickov. Sod the rest of the team
Jordan Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 While I think Dickov will do a fine job if he stays healthy, the whole tone of the article still irritates me. "Raise the roof?" A Cliff Ginetta quote? The Leicester Mercury is to LCFC what Pravda was to the Communist Party. Our favorite club has been in the shit for years, but everything is sunshine and rainbows in Mercurytown. Here's hoping that, in addition to Dickov doing well, that there's plenty of quality articles on Foxes Online this season.
billyfox1 Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 from TB - no mention of dickov though There is a 2PM press briefing at the stadium today. It's supposed to just be the normal briefing they hold before every match. But I was notified of this yesterday, so things may have changed since then. "Leicester City will be holding their pre-MK Dons press briefing on Thursday, August 7. The event will take place at the Walkers Stadium Media Suite at 2pm. Nigel Pearson, Matt Oakley and Michael Morrison will be available for interview. Refreshments will be available from 1:45pm. "

Thracian Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 We've already got a thread for people to guess the attendance, why would you want another one? And that was before Dickov really came into it. Should be a sell-out, including the roofs, if his signature's confirmed.
Corky Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 Is there anyone on here, or anyone that knows someone, that will go along just because Paul Dickov may be here?
Trav Le Bleu Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 Is there anyone on here, or anyone that knows someone, that will go along just because Paul Dickov may be here? Mrs Dickov
Thracian Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 Is there anyone on here, or anyone that knows someone, that will go along just because Paul Dickov may be here? If you fall short, Blanderson will give you lots of names and emails.
Wycombe Fox Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 Is there anyone on here, or anyone that knows someone, that will go along just because Paul Dickov may be here? A couple of tarts from La Manga
Tilley Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 This is getting a bit ridiculous. Is he our player or not.
