Basingstoke Fox Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 Meh However I still think we will need one more decent striker so im not too disappointed with that.
teblin Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 think we have been waiting on this before we looked elsewhere, wouldn't be suprised to see an alternative over the next day or so.
paul12 Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 but on skysport said The 35-year-old is a free agent following his release by Manchester City and gas held discussions with the Seasiders, Leicester and Major League Soccer side Toronto FC over a permanent move.
Matt Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 Thank fook for that! He didn't want us then, I didn't want the little shit now...For once in his life he's done a good thing.

Thats correct, he has. And chose Toronto. He's not allowed to play for all 3
Father Ted Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 I thought that he had gone to Blackpool like a week a ago...
filbertway Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 100% agree. We've been scoring goals for fun in pre-season. Looks like our strikers may actually step up the plate this season. With improved service from midfield this season, the need for Dickov just isnt there. I'm sorry but it's been against weak opposition, you can hardly say we don't need better strikers based on netting a few against Hinckley, Quorn and Kettering.
bigneville Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 I'm sorry but it's been against weak opposition, you can hardly say we don't need better strikers based on netting a few against Hinckley, Quorn and Kettering. You can only score against what your up against. Yes the opposition may be weaker than the normal standard we're going to play week in week out. But the fact that the goals have been free-flowing starts to suggest that goal-scoring may not be an issue. The 42 league goals we scored last night, looks like it will be put to shame with ease this season. Add on top of that, that Dickov is well over the hill, and never has been a prolific striker, I cant see whats he's going to add. I would much rather see a youngster given a chance, than an over the hill Dickov. We currently have enough strikers on the books who will score goals at League One level. There a couple of areas of bigger concern for me.
Finn Claw Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 Old, past it, have better options and youth to blood. If Hayles and Fyratt both went then maybe but I'd rather see Chambers get some first team action

Daggers Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 Former Leicester City striker Paul Dickov has turned down the chance of a return to The Walkers Stadium and is set to move to Major League Soccer.Dickov is currently in Canada for talks about a switch to Toronto FC who play in the US league. The 35-year-old Scot spent part of last season on loan at Blackpool, who were also interested in signing him. Dickov, who played for the Foxes for two years between 2002 and 2004 was released by Manchester City in July. BBC
