The fact that Savage has even been offered to Pearson by Mandaric shows that he hasn't learnt any lessons.

How do we know Mandaric offered this to Pearson, perhaps, an agent has touted Savage about and Pearson has been asked and after thinking about it, has said 'no thanks'. A lot of agents will target Mandaric because they know his reputation, a lot of agents will target Pearson as well because he's a manager. I would imagine that if a player is made aware to Mandaric that he would pass this through to our manager, but that doesn't mean he's instigated it. That's what happens at clubs, it's not just the manager that is phoned up by the agent. It's the chairman, chief exec, etc as well.

You're right, we don't know and I'm speculating, but I'd personally be amazed if Mandaric didn't instigate this or at least try to push it forward (more than most other chairmen/owners would). It just smacks completely of last season and Hasselbaink for me.

Dickov's set for return

by Bill Anderson

Leicester City are today set to seal the return of striker Paul Dickov to boost their assault on promotion.

The 35-year-old fans' favourite had been chased by Blackpool, where he was on loan last season.

He scored the winner against City at Bloomfield Road at the end of the last campaign and had an offer from Canadian Major League Soccer side Toronto.

But, while City will make no comment until the deal is finalised, I understand the formalities will be completed by this evening.

The terms are, apparently, a one-year contract with a one-year option for the former Arsenal and Manchester City man, and he will bolster the strike-force of Steve Howard, Matty Fryatt, DJ Campbell and Barry Hayles three days before the new League One season starts against MK Dons.

City were linked with Dickov weeks ago, but the word from Blackpool was that Nigel Pearson had lost the race for him.

City, though, kept an eye on developments and made their move yesterday.

Once everything is signed and sealed, Dickov is set to go straight into the reckoning for Saturday's big League One opener at the Walkers Stadium.

The Blue Army are bound to welcome him with open arms, despite last season's final-minute winner at Blackpool and Dickov also dumping them out the FA Cup with a sixth-round winner for Blackburn from the penalty spot at Ewood Park in March 2005 during the Craig Levein era.

Dickov's goals for Blackpool arguably helped put City down as the Seasiders escaped by the skin of their teeth.

But all that will be forgiven if he powers City back to the Championship in the same way his 17 league goals in the 2002/3 season lifted them into the Premier League. He scored 20 goals in all competitions that season.

Certainly, his fiery style, undimmed after all these years, will fit into Pearson's lively team which was looking positive even before the chance of adding Dickov to the mix.

The combative Scot will be Pearson's eighth acquisition this summer and, to the Blue Army, the most exciting as they remember with great relish his previous performances here.

City have also been linked with another former player, midfielder Robbie Savage, 33, whose future at Championship side Derby County is clouded in uncertainty.

If he does and nothing goes wrong i shall be very happy.

Him and Fryatt upfront. Brilliant.

ive always resented dickov for the way he left but from an objective viewpoint, he could be the real shot in the arm we need.

we needed a player with his attitude upfront for the last 2-3 months of last season creating their own chances when service was at a low.

his age doesnt concern me as pace was never an issue but they way he battles and holds ball up well is what we were lacking, so, so, so much last season.

Being a football fan is so much more fun if you don't take much interest in all the off the pitch bollocks.

People seem to get very upset by the what Dickov and Savage supposedly said and did, 'the manner of their departure' and all that, but at the time I was gloriously unaware of any of it, despite being a season ticket holder throughout, so I really don't give a toss about anything other than whether they still have the ability and desire to make a contribution on the pitch

Yes, but all that is irrelevant.

Will the consider investing in our lighthouse dream?

If the Blanderson Express says so, then be it...

Dickov kept us guessing for weeks and 25 pages now.

Meh.

Time to cheer for him comes Saturday.

I only wonder what we need five to six first-team strikers for?

surely we can get rid of comedy Hayles now?

I don't have a problem with Milan offering players to NFP, I would have a problem if he forced them on him.

I would have even more of a problem with an owner who wouldn't put his hand in his pocket at all.

Just heard this right now on Sky Sports Just In.

I will say 1 thing for Dickov & Sav if they were to sign the workrate of the team would go through the roof in comparison to last year
