Joe. Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 It's like football manager all over again. He rolled in the hat-tricks there.
Asha Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Lets hope he does as well as Gradelhttp://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/top...set_to_sign.php Apparently only for a month, would be good for him...get a bit of experience and facing a challenge to help get them back to positive points.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Would've liked to have seen him feature fo us this season but no doubt the experience will do him good.
Asha Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Would've liked to have seen him feature fo us this season but no doubt the experience will do him good. It's only for a month though, and if he blitzes the division he'll probably get more of an opportunity here afterwards.
Father Ted Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Nice to hear. The experience should do him well.
The People's Hero Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 It should at least keep him fit - in the absence of 'real' reserve team football here.

Tubes Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Underlines what Pearson was saying on the moan in about sending the youngsters on loan before putting them in the first team.
Thracian Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 I've mentioned that a loan would be ideal for him and Bournemouth gave our last loanee plenty of football at an elevated level which would be the aim of the excercise. The initial one month makes sense all round and Sappleton will have chance to paint a clearer picture of what his impact could be at League level. Having seen him lots of times I'm still not sure how good he is. When he's bad he can by abyssmal. His control lets him down, he seems sluggish and he can lack the spring to win anything in the air and will inexplicably get pushed off the ball too easily. On another day his control surprises you, he runs quite powerfully and he looks a handful for anyone unlucky enough to be marking him. Through it all his shooting remains a threat. Boy can he whack a ball. And he does so on sight of goal. Bang! There's no thoughts of passing to people better placed. If the goal's in sight he's focused and is invariably on target. The interesting thing will be whether he can improve his consistency and get enough shots in against good defenders. Cos goalkeeper's won't find it easy to stop them whether League he hits them in. Good luck Sapp.
Ric Flair Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Good news. He has scored a lot at youth and reserve levels, the next step is to do it at first team level and this provides him with a great opportunity.
Fox in a Box Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 he will shine and it will be league expereince for him.
Thracian Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Underlines what Pearson was saying on the moan in about sending the youngsters on loan before putting them in the first team. That makes lots of sense as a specific policy and now that we no longer have a reserves team in competitive football anyway. What we were doing was sending players away when they'd already shown in the reserves they were better than the alternatives in the first team. Or we were leaving them to get unfit doing nothing at all of consequence. Or we were messing them about so the reserves managers could occupy some foreign no-hopers. Pearson seems to have a proper development strategy - the idea of a finishing school if you like - and everyone should know where they stand and what they need to do to make progress. I've no argument with that at all particularly if the loanees go to clubs like Bournemouth where they're going to be used and helped properly. Odhiambo at Dundee seemed no bloody use to anyone.
wellsy Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 It makes sense letting him go on loan for a while, stretch his legs in a competitive match or two.
Tommy G Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Bet they will extend it to a month if our strikers are scoring and Sappleton's bangin' them in aswell.
jonw88 Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 That makes lots of sense as a specific policy and now that we no longer have a reserves team in competitive football anyway. How did you know about this? Was there any official statement or anything on the OS saying there will be no reserves team? I thought we'd still be playing in that Pontins league like last season. What will happent to Taggs now apart from getting to play in the Masters Final?

Thracian Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Lets hope he does as well as Gradelhttp://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/top...set_to_sign.php Big problem for LilDave3. Does he go to Leicester or Bournemouth for the next month.
