I've noticed it aswell. Did another couple against the trannies.

All wholly explained in another thread. It's not a case o pulling out it's a case of being responsible. He's in the hub of the team. If he goes in for 50-50 challenges it won't be long before he gets booked and then possible sent off.

If that happens his manager has a serious problem which might affect the whole balance of the side. King hardly ever gets booked let alone sent off so is virtually 100% reliable in terms of staying on the pitch.

That in contrast to the likes of Tiatto who might have hammered into people but was forever getting booked in the first half an hour putting unnecessary pressure on himself, his team and his manager in terms of substitutions.

If you are for one minute sugesting that Kin or anyone else in the City squad is afraid of a tackle then forget it. You don't complete as many years at a professional football club as King if you're scared. King is a thinking footballer and his team and his manager are better off for it.

In fact I don't think we've got any Tiatto types now which is probably why we're at the top of the League instead of underperforming near the bottom. In the season before he left we never won one single game that tough-tackling Tiatto started. The days of the hatchet men are long gone.

If it's 50/50 surely that would be the same for the other player?

And surely the ref would know that it was a 50/50 challenge, so maybe give him a warning?

My point on 50/50's is that their player isn't going to back out, so why should i?

I would imagine a true 50/50 challenge is a rarity, in reality someone is more likely to be seen as being first so it would be down to a degree of judgement and a whole lot of luck.

Part of that judgement would be to determine whether it was worth the risk of a tackle in the first place, I'd say that in a massed midfield very few are, better to try and close them down or in this league hope they mess up their first touch under pressure from our player.

It's not me you've got to convince. Try persuading the referees and the authorities.

Almost every time I see someone go down from even an innocuous 50-50 challenge, the referee is whistling like a kettle.

It's basically a health and safety thing. The authorities are obviously approached by Labour's health and safety nannies from time to time and referees' reaction to any sort of aggressive tackles is part of the crackdown they've called for on potentially injurous play.

As DavieG has mentioned to me many times, football is becoming a non contact sport. And it's no use pretending otherwise.

Well we wouldn't want to upset the children. :P

so now he's scored but we have conceeded 3 goals, does this mean he is no longer a defensive but magically an attacking midfielder :giggle:

Andy King - the next One-Goal Wonder?

Actually that's his second goal for the club - both of them crackers - and it sounded similar to one he scored at Quorn with the outside of his foot. Pure class. :D

Oh dear, what a willy puller.

I can see that 2:1 really added a whole new dimension to your ability to insult people. Fantastic.

I can't wait to see what you call me next - I'm sure it will be as upsetting as the last post. Oh dear - I fear I no longer possess the ardour to service my dear lady wife, cut to the quick I am. Cut to the quick.

lol

King passed thre ball well today and played well.

Imo, Weso was average, kept giving the ball away, but made some good tackles.
