It didn't sound too much like the King/Oakley partnership to me, especially their three goals and various other chances.

I don't see how King can be a defender while he's dropping the corner onto Morrison's head from which we should have had a penalty. Or while he's breaking into or close to the penalty area for a goal or a shot or two nor while he's providing a penalty-area presence during the action that led to Dickov's goal.

Or are you saying these things didn't happen, that the commentators were wrong in saying they did and that there was no need for someone to provide cover? Cos I am damned sure about what I heard.

I didn't say Weso was bad though it seems mighty strange that, while some who were there agree with you, several others rated him an above average seven. Seems that even those in attendance saw a totally different player. So stop being so pious.

And just be grateful that you were able to be there while I was sitting in a traffic jam at Leicester market caused by three fire engines apparently practising a sodding safety drill among a heap of other things I could have done without and which eventually stopped me getting away in time.

The other week you did claim King was a defensive midfielder.

The other week you did claim King was a defensive midfielder.

I have always claimed that King is equally comfortable as a defensive or attacking midfielder. He's done both throughout his time at Leicester.

There was even a time once where I felt we were playing him too defensively - in first team and reserves - and in great danger of wasting his attacking qualities.

so now he's scored but we have conceeded 3 goals, does this mean he is no longer a defensive but magically an attacking midfielder :giggle:

haha, i'm doing the lottery this week

Walsh on King:

The biggest plus point for me on Wednesday was Andy King scoring. He looks like he will be a player full of class. He must keep his head down, and City Manager Nigel Pearson will be good for making sure of that.

I believe King could turn into an influential midfielder for us in many years to come, and at a much higher level. I wonder what his mum and dad look like? Because in terms of football technique, it looks like Garry Parker has been breeding with Muzzy Izzet to produce this lad! What a thought!

I can feel another photoshop competition coming on. :P

Is it true King was rejected by Chelseas when he was about 15?

according to his profile on the OS when he signed his new deal yes

King's family is based in Berkshire and he spent quite a while at the Chelsea Academy. A problem for him is that he's often a bit understated. He's not particularly noticeable physically, he's not quick and he's not flash.

It's only when people watch him carefully that they start to realise what a good football brain he has and see that he has the passing and shooting skills to make things happen.

Maybe Chelsea just had so many fast and exciting young players that Kingy just didn't look special enough. Me, I look to look at how many shots he has per game from midfield and the number of times he either scores or assists a goal in whatevber grade of football he plays in. I also like to note the number of good results a team has when he plays.

Whether it be our first team this season or our Under 18s when they won the Academy play-off final. Kingy might be understated. But he's shown himself a winner and that's one of the best qualities a footballer can have.

He was very classy yesterday in a dominant peformance. Some lovely tocuhes, passes and shots. He had a lot more confidence to try things and to express himself, I hope we stick with him and hope he can produce this reguarly. It has taken him a while to settle this season but he is certinly getting better.

That is pleasing to hear. He's been quietly going about his business and this is evidence that it's often good to give someone time to settle in. Oakley seems to be stepping up his performances as well, which is a big bonus. 2 central midfielders that can compliment each other is what we've badly needed for a long time. Let's hope we have found it.

i think pearson must have a good eye for a player because if i am honest i didnt expect him to be give the nod ahead of wesalowski but fair play to Perason i guess thats why he is the manager and i am not!

Lloyd Dyer got City off to a flyer with the 1-0 scoreline registered on what must be the smallest scoreboard in the Football League. It looked more like a bedside alarm clock and it was later broken by a wayward Andy King shot.

lol:wub:
