Orient Viewpoint:

Orient boss believes his troops will be up for big Leicester test

11:12am Wednesday 17th September 2008

ORIENT boss Martin Ling is confident that he will find it easy to lift his players for the visit of Leicester this weekend following Saturday's crushing defeat against Stockport.

The O's failed to build on their four-match unbeaten run as they slipped to a disappointing 3-0 defeat against the Hatters at Brisbane Road.

But Leicester, who were relegated from the Championship last season also suffered their first League One defeat of the campaign after former Orient striker Gary Alexander scored the only goal in a 1-0 win at the Walkers Stadium.

And Ling is hoping that will be a sign of things to come this weekend, in what is likely to be one of the east Londoners' biggest gates of the season at Brisbane Road.

He said: “Leicester are certainly one of the favourites to go up because they are a massive club.

“But that only means teams like us lift their game when we play them and we saw that when Millwall beat them on Saturday, with Gary getting the goal of course.

“I'm sure that with Leicester bringing down a big following and us likely to have a decent home crowd as well it will be a red-hot atmosphere.

“So after a defeat like we had against Stockport this is probably an ideal game for us to be going into next.”

So far the Foxes have sold in the region of 2000 tickets of their 2600 allocation for the Brisbane Road clash.

I think Orient will be relishing playing us on Saturday, and they'll take confidence from our poor performance and the way Millwall controlled us so comfortably.

Like Bert says, it's very important that we get the win on Saturday or else we'll find ourselves playing cath up every week which we really don't want. Got to keep the pressure on the teams above us for as long as possible.

Big game for us. We've not won in London for a while, if I remember rightly? It's time we changed that.

If Orient try and play football, we'll be too strong for them. Their only hope is a horrible and physical battle and to sit back. I can't imagine their fans will like to see a home side do that, so it's important we turn the screw on them early on and get the job done.

I agree. Millwall played the perfect away-day performance, which I think is the best way to play us tbh. However if we get at them early and get the crowd on their backs, we stand a good chance. I'm going to stick my neck out and say we'll win 2-nowt.

I do think we'll step up a gear here and get 3 points. Millwall was a massive set-back, but it's reaction to defeat that is absolute crucial at this level.

We'll win, but Orient will make us work hard for it.

i'd like to think there won't be too many of them this season, in many ways the pressure is reduced on us now, we've lost a league 1 game, we have a bit of humility and know we aren't invincible...

for the first time in years the players seem to have something to be proud of and i'd like to think they'll go out and show this...

Let's not forget they had a 4 match unbeaten run prior to this last defeat and will also be determined to 'stop the rot'.

Looking forward to this. From what I hear from you lot London away games are special in terms of atmosphere etc so I can't wait :w00t:

They don't do atmosphere and crowd reaction at Orient.

1-1 draw I reckon, both teams determined not to lose, possibly a drab game. I hope not but still.

Also if it's sunny we'll lose, we never win if it's nice.

I wasn't in the country at the time, but having seen the highlights, it looked pretty sunny when he demolished Cheltenham.

If it's sunny we should resurrect this song

The sun is out, the sky is blue

There's not a cloud to spoil the view

But it's Leicester

Leicester in my heart

The weather man says clear today

He doesn't know you've gone away

And it's Leicester

Leicester in my heart

Ooh, misery

Misery

What's gonna become of me?

I tell my blues they mustn't show

But soon these tears are bound to flow

'Cos it's Leicester

Leicester in my heart

Ooh, misery, misery

What's gonna become of me?

The sun is out, the sky is blue

There's not a cloud to spoil the view

But it's Leicester

Leicester in my heart

Leicester in my heart

Leicester in my heart

Looking forward to this. Orient are a passing team, like us, so we won't have any of the Millwall-style physicality. Hope we can get a win to put ourselves back on track.

Is that the stand where they do the amazing jerk chicken that Spoony always bangs on about on 606?
