Leyton Stewards

Did anyone else see the disabled person make the stewards at the front of D block sit down because they were obstructing her view? They didn't really know what to do withselves as they had to sit on the stairs :crylaugh: nice to see them get a taste of their own medicine really!

One came up to the back row on the right side of the stand and asked us if we wanted to sit or stand. He seemed to think the people standing on the back row were forced to stand because of the people standing in front of them. We advised the steward that we all wanted to stand so he said fair play and left...

Now THAT is how to steward a football match and it makes the efforts from the steward I went on about at Milwall last weekend look all the more pathetic.

Were you in the furthest section on the right, wearing a green T-shirt? Recognized you for some reason.

Aye got asked the same thing. You probably was right next to me.

I thought they were alright. When we got into the ground though, one steward directed my brother one way and another directed me in the opposite direction :giggle:

Anyway, they were pretty relaxed about the standing, and there were no problems. The people who wanted to stand did, those that wanted to sit sat down. Still a great atmosphere created by all the supporters.

Well, your standing affronted me as I was collecting a cob from the hog roast!

When oh when oh when will stewards realise that getting people to sit is important to both people sitting in front of them AND people not even at the ground?!

Me and a few friends managed to just claim 3-4 seats on the back row in Block D. Those who were meant to sit there weren't too fussed where they sat and got directed to different seats by the stewards. I thought that was pretty decent.

Didn't think the stewarding was that bad, they didn't have a problem with standing at all.

We were meant to be in row B but just made our way to the back in the middle block and stood up. The steward we chatted to was a sound guy, just used his common sense and could see that it wasn't hurting anybody, just made sure people weren't obstructing the aisles. I was stood on the decking, one mate was stood on my seat, my other mate was stood on the back rest of the seat, great fun.

Sounds like you were near me, just to the left of the halfway line.

Stewards were no bother.

Yeah, we tried to get further to the left but couldn't find any way to get along the stand so we made do for being at the back close to the half way line, i.e. the right side over 'ere.

From the number of police outside the Coach & Horses you'd have thought Gordon Brown was holding his resignation cabinet meeting.

Thought their burgers were excellent, certainly passed the time while I waited for my songs to come on the jukebox after seemingly the entire Oasis back catalogue!

Ha! Made the mistake of getting a burger from the take away up the road - absolutely disgusting!

The police outside the Coach and Horses were picking people out of the crowd and questioning them.

I reckon every time a Leicester fan entered the pub they called up an extra policeman so we had personal coverage.

I was concerned for my safety at one when two old dears, yes older than me tried to nick our seats but I was consoled by the level of police presence to stamp on any trouble they might have caused.
