Wycombe Fox Posted 3 August 2009 Posted 3 August 2009 What about them? It's the pointy ears that get me and that thing they do when they grip the base of your neck. Do you ever get that moment when you've typed something, think it's a crass thing to post and then press 'Add Reply' anyway?

I hate salad, and lettuce makes me wretch. Having said that, I can eat rocket, and I can eat basil, so maybe some kind of herb salad would be in order?

I make my own cow pie, but I make my own shortcrust pastry. With regards to the meat, I like it plain and simple, so I braise casserole, stewing or braising steak for at least a couple of hours over a low heat. I put in a beef stock cube, and at the end I'll add a bit of arrowroot or cornflour premixed in cold water just to thicken the gravy. Done this way, the meat melts in the mouth. If you want a bit more flavour, you can add some onion and/or mushrooms.

lildave3 Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 Anyone want to come and cook for me this weekend? No? Worth a try.
Guest Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 Anyone want to come and cook for me this weekend? No? Worth a try. I would love to, but I've just had a glass of wine, and don't feel like I can get behind the wheel of my car in this inebriated state.

Libertine Posted 4 September 2009 Posted 4 September 2009 It's just the start.... I'm not incapable. Just lazy. And on my own.
Guest Posted 4 September 2009 Posted 4 September 2009 I'm not incapable. Just lazy. And on my own. I must admit, if Sir Fynwy is off on his travels, I don't bother too much. Simple spanish omelette or beans on toast does me.

Guest Posted 6 September 2009 Posted 6 September 2009 Tarted up Sunday Lunch today - celeriac puree (actually mash but hey, what's lumps between friends?), buttered cabbage, creamy thyme, coriander seed and chilli butternut squash and carrots cooked in a wine/orange juice mixture. All with bits and bobs chucked in. Not too keen on the carrots (overcooked them) but the rest was good - the celeriac being a 7.5 and the butternut squash was awesome. tomorrow is squash, sweet potato and chick pea curry...

Samilktray Posted 7 September 2009 Posted 7 September 2009 Can anyone recommend a cooking book for someone like me who has only just started cooking? Just want it to have recipes for simple meals, but nothing too boring? And hopefully can be picked up from a library.
