Koke Posted 2 October 2008 Author Posted 2 October 2008 Shoot me down if you like, but I'd say all of our strikers are no better than League One quality. I don't think Howard's 19 goals at Derby was a fluke.
Munzie Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 DJ & Fryatt are both league one strikers, this is there level so you could play either one & they would push for 20 goals!Which one I'd play, I don't really know or care (as long as were winning ) but I would argue that DJ would compliment Howard better due to his reasonable pace! Or you could just fook Howard off & play them both, but I don't see much of a partnership forming if we were to go down that route!!! I agree. Also, although he receives a lot of stick, Howard does have a role to play in relation to our strikeforce. Whilst I can't see him reaching the dizzy heights of 20+ goals for himself, he will play a part in Fryatt, Campbell, Dickov, whoever getting theirs. My vision of a 4-3-3 might just work!

I can't see how that would improve us to be honest! Who's in your 3 man midfield? Because if you're planning to play Gradel & Dyer then it would be more of a 4-1-5!
Thracian Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 I have never raved about DJ, never mind him being my beloved!I have simply stated that I wondered if DJ had a similar run in the side, as Fryatt has, if he would have scored a similar number of goals. I've already told Thracian that if crappy Fryatt get's 20 goals this season that I would gladly buy him a couple of pints. Can't say fairer than that. One way or another it should be a good party at the Swan and Rushes come the end of the season.
Munzie Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 I can't see how that would improve us to be honest! Who's in your 3 man midfield? Because if you're planning to play Gradel & Dyer then it would be more of a 4-1-5! I would retain Dyer & Gradel/Adams given their pace and link up play with Gilbert & Powell respectively. From what I've seen this could prove effective. Dyer & co are more than capable of tracking back as well as providing wide support going forward. It may even bring the best out of Oakley (or Celmence if he is fit), with Howard sitting just behind the front two. Would love to give it a try at the next paint pot round.
Ric Flair Posted 3 October 2008 Posted 3 October 2008 Shoot me down if you like, but I'd say all of our strikers are no better than League One quality. I'd tend to agree with you there, certainly none of them have proven to be very good for us when we were in the championship.
Koke Posted 4 October 2008 Author Posted 4 October 2008 Up to 9 now. But for the love of God, Matty, put those one-on-one's away otherwise you will make me look like a right muppet. I don't like you, but I'm backing you against all odds.
Joe. Posted 4 October 2008 Posted 4 October 2008 Today's game performance were absolutely typical Fryatt to the core
Koke Posted 4 October 2008 Author Posted 4 October 2008 Plays shit and still scores, you mean? Isn't that a sign of a half decent striker?
Joe. Posted 4 October 2008 Posted 4 October 2008 Plays shit and still scores, you mean? Isn't that a sign of a half decent striker? That's exactly what I mean. One of them was a penalty to be fair.
lildave3 Posted 4 October 2008 Posted 4 October 2008 Still shit Seriously though, when you get chances on a plate, ****ing take them.
Koke Posted 4 October 2008 Author Posted 4 October 2008 That's exactly what I mean. One of them was a penalty to be fair. If he reaches 20 whilst playing shit, who are we to argue? He does frustrate the hell out of me sometimes. I remember a season or two ago, when a lot of people were claiming he was the most natural finisher at the club. Hume was a better finisher back then, and Howard is a better one now.
Thracian Posted 4 October 2008 Posted 4 October 2008 That's exactly what I mean. One of them was a penalty to be fair. People would knock him hard enough if he missed a penalty. They're only easy when they're in the net.
Granno Posted 4 October 2008 Posted 4 October 2008 I know a lot of people rave about Fryatt, and fair play he's our top scorer. But he's not exactly prolific when you see all the chances he misses before he scores. That said he's firing us up the league
Daggers Posted 4 October 2008 Posted 4 October 2008 I know a lot of people rave about Fryatt, and fair play he's our top scorer. But he's not exactly prolific when you see all the chances he misses before he scores. as I pointed out in another thread... Look at today's stats below - we had 10 attempts of which 4 were on target and put away 3 of them. I really don't get that crap that is being thrown at Fryatt. He isn't a Premier League striker...but hey, guess what? This is Division III. Goal Attempts 17 : 10 Goal Attempts On Target 6 : 4 On Target Crosses 4 : 5 Crosses Corners 4 : 5 Corners Offside - : 3 Offside Fouls 16 : 19 Fouls Free kicks 23 : 16 Free kicks Yellow cards 2 : 3 Yellow cards Red cards - : - Red cards % Possession 55 : 45 Possession %
clazkel Posted 4 October 2008 Posted 4 October 2008 Why don't some of you give Fryatt a break! He does have many chances that he doesn't put away, but he is growing in confidence. At least he is getting in the positions to create chances and trying to shoot when he gets the chance (which he had lacked confidence to do last season), he has a good footballing brain and will keep creating chances, more than any of our other strikers. Last season people moaned because he wasn't scoring enough, this season he's scored 9 already and he's still getting slated and people saying they don't like him. Why don't you like him? I think its time he was given some credit.
davieG Posted 4 October 2008 Posted 4 October 2008 Only 3 teams have scored more goals than our 17. Bristol Rovers have 20 and are 15th (from 1 game more) Oldham have 20 and are 3rd S****horpe have 18 and are 2nd That's 1.88 goals per game. What's the problem?

JoeyB Posted 5 October 2008 Posted 5 October 2008 I have worked out that if Fryatt Continues his scoring run, he could possibly get 40 goals + this season.. This was a delaying tactic because i cant be arsed to do my college work
Uncle Albert Posted 5 October 2008 Posted 5 October 2008 I have worked out that if Fryatt Continues his scoring run, he could possibly get 40 goals + this season..This was a delaying tactic because i cant be arsed to do my college work Cosmic.
20mj08 Posted 5 October 2008 Posted 5 October 2008 fryatt could score 50+ if he scored 75% of his chances and kept himself onside! and another 20 on top of that if he reads the big steve better
NewquayFox Posted 5 October 2008 Posted 5 October 2008 Fryatt will get 30+ goals this Season but if he carries on scoring i reckon someone from the Championship will come in for him in the January window, hope not because the Lad is finally finding his (scoring) feet albeit in the 3rd Division. ;0)
