NewquayFox Posted 5 October 2008 Posted 5 October 2008 Hope not,be good if Howard could get himself on the scoresheet a bit more often though. ;0)
Narborough Bod Posted 5 October 2008 Posted 5 October 2008 Why don't some of you give Fryatt a break! He does have many chances that he doesn't put away, but he is growing in confidence. At least he is getting in the positions to create chances and trying to shoot when he gets the chance (which he had lacked confidence to do last season), he has a good footballing brain and will keep creating chances, more than any of our other strikers. Last season people moaned because he wasn't scoring enough, this season he's scored 9 already and he's still getting slated and people saying they don't like him. Why don't you like him? I think its time he was given some credit. Because the detractors don't like him full stop. he was shite last year year, so was the whole team, get over it. We're winning now so the moaners have to find something else to have a go at. Strikers miss chances, it's as simple as that, otherwise you would see games all over the country ending up 8-4 week in week out. If Fryatt is combining well with the team and getting into the poisition to make chances - and we win games - I'm happy with that. 3-2, 3 points, job done.
davieG Posted 5 October 2008 Posted 5 October 2008 To be fair didn't you say the other day on here that we weren't scoring enough goals? I think I was saying that if Fryatt's contribution dried up we could be in trouble. There's pretty much only him and Dyer scoring at the moment.
Corky Posted 5 October 2008 Posted 5 October 2008 He does, and will miss chances, but he's scored nine goals this season already. If he'd scored none and missed three or four chances every match I will be worried. His first goal yesterday was superb, control, touch and finish, and such a confident penalty as well. He looks far better than he did in the last two years, that's for sure.
The Blur Posted 6 October 2008 Posted 6 October 2008 Fryatt will get 30+ goals this Season but if he carries on scoring i reckon someone from the Championship will come in for him in the January window, hope not because the Lad is finally finding his (scoring) feet albeit in the 3rd Division. ;0) That is even more ambitious prediction I eagerly await a pint from you then!

Raj Posted 6 October 2008 Posted 6 October 2008 Plenty of players from last season "owe" city fans something for theid direness(Thats crap English but who give s afcuk!) I could name many who should be whipped in front of a large crowd. Fryatt has (in my mind) made amends towards laste seasons crap. He's banged em in(athough people will STILL say he's been handed em on a plate!). We've had players B4 who've been handed chances on a plate and still fcuked up. Let the lad score in this league(as he is doing) Let him get some confidence and if we do go up,lets see what a high in confidence Matty Fryatt can do in the C'Chip. We shouldnt be hammering the bloke whos scoring our goals for fcuk sake..
C-man Posted 6 October 2008 Posted 6 October 2008 Mainly because hes getting games. He had 34 games last year and scored 3 goals...
Bert Posted 6 October 2008 Posted 6 October 2008 He had 34 games last year and scored 3 goals... This is true. But, he didn't have 34 games in his best position. I believe every time he scored last season, he was playing up front.
Kilworthfox Posted 6 October 2008 Posted 6 October 2008 This is true. But, he didn't have 34 games in his best position. I believe every time he scored last season, he was playing up front. Who said Southampton away??????? Er oh it was me.... Well this season, the Opposition is different, in fairness the marking was poor this weekend for his first. Look Matty did not do well last year, we know it, he knows it (he must do) but at this moment he is doing well, long may it continue
Koke Posted 1 November 2008 Author Posted 1 November 2008 13 goals so far. 2 on Tuesday and 2 today. Credit where it's due. I bumped this so LD3 could praise him.

Koke Posted 1 November 2008 Author Posted 1 November 2008 Cock off Karim Remind us again how many goals he has this season?
lildave3 Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 Remind us again how many goals he has this season? Not enough
Nugent Posted 2 November 2008 Posted 2 November 2008 Not enough But think how many he would of scored if his goals hadn't been chalked off.
Corky Posted 2 November 2008 Posted 2 November 2008 He's not my favourite, some people will never take to him, judging by the reaction on RL after the game, but with 14 goals overall he's doing very well. I just hope he puts away more one-on-one chances.

Corky Posted 2 November 2008 Posted 2 November 2008 I just hope someone starts sharing the goalscoring responsibility./ Lloyd seems to have dried up, Howard's are always disallowed, King and Oakley don't score enough and our defenders haven't had a great service from set-pieces. We do need more goals from other areas though, I agree.
GLC Posted 2 November 2008 Posted 2 November 2008 im happy ive made £14 so far, i bet my mate that every goal he scores i get a quid , he did the same with tevez im winning
clazkel Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 I reckon he will score around 35 this season, his confiedence seems to be growing every game. I really hope he stays and doesn't leave and score his goals elsewhere

clazkel Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Theres still 28 league games left and maybe some more cup games aswell, i think its possible
Thracian Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 This is true. But, he didn't have 34 games in his best position. I believe every time he scored last season, he was playing up front. Come on Bert. In the previous two seasons he had loads of games as a striker and even when he was elsewhere he had the licence to attack and to shoot. Two things have changed. Having more attacking players around him and being brimful of confidence. Some might say we're playing one level lower as well but we'll see and it doesn't matter for now anyway. By any yardstick he's done us proud this season. .
